Morning all. [grin[ at 'Much Rain' and 'Much Laundry'. Reversing that, there's a wonderful couple of books by Douglas Adams (and someone else) called 'The Meaning/Deeper Meaning of Lif', which used place names to describe "things that there should be words for but aren't" e.g. 'woking' means 'standing in the kitchen wondering what you went in there for.' (I do a lot of woking. In the kitchen and in other rooms.)

Anyway, I have MNed, and I have Wordled, and now I need to paint (in between taxi-ing DS and horsing...

May our day be full of HBFs and happiness... #WenchBlessingsUponThisTavern

FancyFancy · 13/02/2022 13:03

Not yet Letus

Completely hammering down here, will not be taking that leisurely stroll to the pet shop for bird food.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/02/2022 15:28

Afternoon all. The rain has just arrived here, and I have not got the laundry on Hmm I've also finished painting the bedroom walls. There's a bit of woodwork to do still, but the - oh. The walls aren't done. The walls that got replastered have been done, but the wall that hasn't been replastered still needs painting. Still, the walls that are done mean that we can move wardrobes back in and start getting the house back to being slightly less chaotic.

I am having hot chocolate and cake, with rugby

ApricotCrush · 13/02/2022 17:42

Afternoon. Rain all day here too.

Ouch at MrHelen's back and ooooh at Olympic athlete. I remember once when DD and I were in Dunelm and a famous local footballer was behind us in the queue. He made a fuss of DGS who was about 3 at the time and we both went all starstruck. Blush

We've been watching The Responder. Martin Freeman deserves a BAFTA. It's about a damaged police officer whose heart is in the right place and it has an actual proper ending with all loose ends tied up. Not like everything else which has a cliffhanger to set up the next season which may never happen and you wonder why you bothered.

I now want hot chocolate and cake.

What happened to the weekend? Confused

LetUsPrey · 13/02/2022 20:58

Evening wenches.

Nothing particularly thrilling today. Agree the weekend has whooshed by again Wicked.

I shall look into those books Helen. Well done on more painting.

indeed Fancy. Don’t they know of your expectations?

I think DH has been watching The Responder Apricot. I agree it makes a pleasant change that everything’s tied up

DH and DS2 are being daft and stupid together right next to me and it’s really winding me up, especially as I’m trying to concentrate on my knitting.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/02/2022 23:00

Evening all. It's half term tomorrow. I have to juggle work and DS socialising and life. Woe is me

I should also go to bed and stop mucking about online.

Hope that Fancy's birds are suitably grateful, and that Fancy/Scaredy cats enjoy the view Grin

LetUsPrey · 14/02/2022 07:52

Morning wenches.

Rain. So much rain. Half term is next week here.

Thank you for not talking at me whilst I was knitting Helen. Perhaps others could take the hint.

Need to get a shift on. Have fun Mondays everywench.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/02/2022 08:17

Grey and rainy here too. Today is juggling as per last night's comment. Though at least we've all been able to sleep past 7am today.

Had unpleasant 'almost falling off edge of building' dreams. And there was a distinct lack of dream FAF riding to my rescue. Inconsiderate. I have no idea why my subconscious decided that LocalVillage had such a large shopping centre though! I think it needs to take a long hard look at its priorities. Hmm Grin

ApricotCrush · 14/02/2022 16:52

Aternoon. Sunshine and showers here.

I coloured my hair this morning, first time since October. It's cheered me up no end, I hate having grey roots.

Half term next week here too, but we're not on duty today as they have an inset day. Hmm

Evening wenches.

gorgeous!

Not too bad at work especially considering it’s a Monday. I’m getting on with some knitting now.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/02/2022 20:59

Evening all.
Oooooooooooooh! Nice hair Apricot - Athos is impressed and coming over for a closer look.

Work was... hard work but I finally feel like I made headway on current difficult project. I maybe shouldn't have said yes to a new one, but it should be more straightforward than the current complicated ones. I hope Confused

I am going to finish tea and then get into the cwtch cupboard do the book and bath thing because I need some serious chilling/de-stressing time.

FancyFancy · 14/02/2022 23:32

Have had a day of pottering around - done a Big Shop, so loads of food in the house, and went to the garden centre. Only bought a few new plants, plus plenty of bird food. Was rewarded with a pair of robins at the feeder today. Am yet to be rewarded with some faf on Homeland though

LetUsPrey · 15/02/2022 07:32

Morning wenches.

Hope you went to bed feeling suitably chilled and de-stressed Helen.

That sounds a rather lovely day Fancy, except for the lack of Homeland FAF. It’s like it’s not even a concern for them or something? I think we should stage some sort of protest because this is important.

Rain again. Forecast isn’t great for anyone it would seem.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/02/2022 09:37

Morning all. There was a lie-in chez SisterHelen today, which was good except I also needed to get DS out the door to HolidaySportsThingy and he was moving at the speed of slug, despite wanting to go. So we were a bit late, but ho hey! hum. Now I am home and plugged in for another happy day of freelancing/being a cat bed. We have no rain here yet, but I think it's forecast.

Bath was very hot and sleep-inducing last night, so that was gooood. (apart from the having to get up this morning bit, which was baaad)

What should our protest placards read do you think? 'Free the FAF!' 'Bring out the FAF!' 'What do we want? FAF! When do we want it? Now!' That sort of thing? No sure who we protest at though.

FancyFancy · 15/02/2022 13:53

Hope everyone is staying dry?

Protest are good, but you know what those in management like to say to their minions - 'Don't bring me problems, bring me solutions. I can think of no-one better than us to provide the required type of solution for the issue of Absence Of Faf

ApricotCrush · 15/02/2022 17:57

Evening. Rain all morning, cleared up after lunch. We did the school walk, but there was a freezing wind coming back.

Yay for plants, robins, knitting and being a cat bed.

I'm still waiting for Athos. He lied. Angry

Evening wenches.

It seems the powers that be have ceased asking whether FriendAtWork and I have any capacity to take on more tasks and responsibilities (spoiler alert - we don’t) and now just present stuff as a done deal with no discussion. Perhaps they’re running on a book on how long it’ll take us to crack.

You’ll have to give Athos a stern telling off Apricot and then demand he finds many ways to keep you warm.

What is it with slow-moving DC Helen? Watching DS2 put on his socks in a morning is something to behold. He puts one on and then just stops.

Good idea Fancy. We should also then ask the FAF what their demands are. Just to be fair obviously.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/02/2022 21:30

Evening all.

LetUs - the FAF demand us, surely? What else could they want? #baffled Grin

I got a bit damp picking DS up at lunchtime, and it was a bit windy too. No taxi services are needed tomorrow though, unless I've just talked up DH needing a lift.

LetUs - can you just hand it back to people at the end of the day with a breezy 'didn't have time for this'? Tell PowersTheBe1 that you were too busy doing stuff for PowersThatBe2 and get them to argue amongst themselves? It's shit though.

apricot - you'll have to think of a suitable punishment for him when he turns up. Hmm

LetUsPrey · 16/02/2022 07:41

Morning wenches.

Well obviously they do Helen. Perhaps we’d like them to be more specific, more detailed with what they want Grin

Is all the same PTB piling on the work. They basically don’t give a shit.

Stormy winds have arrived early. Batten down the Tav and stay inside.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/02/2022 08:30

Is there a higher power than PTB? Can you send all of PTB's crap back to PTB's line-manager? Or do we just send Vinne? Wanker Angry

Storm winds are not here yet.

Afternoon. Eeeerm, it's a bit windy as we used to say before they had fancy names for storms.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 16/02/2022 20:36

Evening wenches.

Very fecking windy. I’ve checked the forecast where DS1 is and it’s worse there so I’m now worrying about that.

PTB are the highest up unfortunately. They can get to absolute fuck.

I’ve been waking up stupidly early and not been able to get back to sleep before I need to get up so I think I need an early night.

FancyFancy · 16/02/2022 21:29

It's fairly blowy here too - both cats are disgusted. Well it's been a day of work. Mostly productive, apart from an hour on hold to a bank to chase up a query from last September. Lesson to be learnt from that - go to the loo before calling. Had to get a colleague to take over for 5 minutes so I could go for a toilet break and get my lunch out of the fridge Grin It was a waste of time - I got cut off. A rather curt email was sent.

Helen, that selection is most diverting
again

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/02/2022 22:20

Evening all. The wind is howling out there, and we don't even have the worst of it Confused Definitely recommend that all wenches get tied down with the HBF(s) of their choice. It's the only sensible course of action.

I had a day off today which meant a proper lie-in (after feeding livestock) and a relaxed morning, followed by freelancing for the rest of the day. On the plus side, the two difficult projects are finally making some progress.

We have been watching the final hobbit film, and it is clearly a very bad idea to have good hair if you're a dwarf, because they all got killed. Whereas the ones with dodgy hair all survived. Cause and effect, obvs. (We also had a 15 minute interruption to buy ice creams retrieve a mouse from under furniture )

Hope everyone survives the wind overnight - apparently Friday/Saturday are meant to be worse Confused
