Oh, someone has been arrested on suspicion of murder! ITV are parked at the end of our road. That's as near as they can get to the scene.

The rain stopped about an hour ago. We had a drive out though to an area with a visitor centre and a cafe and of course a gift shop. Tomorrow’s plan is forest walk followed by cafe/bookshop.

Morning all. We had friends over yesterday which was lovely - bbq and blether in the garden. Then a late night and the car needs an MOT so I must get my backside in gear and take it to the garage...

Today is walk - if people will actually get ready so we go out before today’s downpour - and then cafe bookshop.

Afternoon all. slightly expensive MOT (apparently my breaks were on their last legs) and I need new tyres. Still better than DH whose car continues to be a lame duck.

Nothing to report really. DH has gone golfing at another club somewhere and I don't know whether he needs a meal when he comes back.

Yes, I love a gift shop, there's a lovely one near the caravan and we always pay a visit.

We managed to dodge the showers and had a lovely forest walk which really underlined how unfit I am. Played a bit of tennis/randomly waved a racquet around in the general direction of the ball when we got back.

Evening, the last couple of days it has permanently looked like it was about to rain, so much for summer!

Have been rather inefficient at work this week, not really back into the swing. Still, it's been nice seeing the new staff settling in.

Meteors!!! (remembered to stand outside getting a crick in my neck fo 10 minutes. Saw one nice bright streak, then back in to fetch cakes out of the oven.

Morning all. Is bright and sunny at the moment. CuteKitten is rampaging, StupidCat is sulking upstairs. All is as normal... DH and DS are out today doing sporting things. They will doubtless ness food of some sort when they get back, but we'll figure that out when it happens.

We have swimming today. I’m not a fan.

Afternoon. Sunny intervals here and very windy, which was good for getting the bedlinen from the caravan washed that DD has brought back. I like to do it myself so I can keep track of it all, otherwise it ends up in someone else's cupboard and gets lost forever. It's like running a blooming hotel.

I had a phone call from the GP last week saying they want to see me face-to-face about my blood test results. It's tomorrow morning with the rather hot doctor who I had the shoe-stuck-in trouser-leg-and-had-to-do-a-strip incident with five years ago and swore I never wanted to see again. Hope he doesn't have a long memory. Most people can't get a GP appointment, I get one I don't want.

I'm not keen on swimming either LetUs. It all stems from the teacher pushing me in the deep end every week when I was dithering on the edge.

We’ve had rain most of the day, including now. Swimming wasn’t too bad, although it was very busy, and then we had ice cream from a shop we always go to. It was bloody delicious.

I had a lie in this morning and then woke up 10 minutes before I was meant to be somewhere - oops. Turbo-charged exit from the house for me! Home again now with washing in the machine and lovely sunshine outside. Nothing exciting planned - mooch out to a VillageEvent later.

Afternoon. Appointment with the HotDoctor went okay, except my mind went blank and I couldn't remember the name of my treadmill and after an ominous pause called it my walking machine. I already knew what the appointment was about as I'd looked at my records on the app. My cholesterol is up and he suggested statins, but I really don't want to be on anything else so I promised I'd get more exercise on the walking machine.

Some very welcome dry weather here so I can finally empty the bottom of the compost bin (the compost needs to dry out a bit so I can sieve it before using), have also pottered in the garden and got washing done.

I do like meteor watching, not so keen on all the sodding bitey insects in the evening in my garden though - maybe I need a hazmat suit?

Lucifer looked fiiiine - god he's faf in a waistcoat.

ScaredyCat is completely unable to resist anything like that Helen. Every morning she attacks my dressing gown belt when I tie it up

Do we not stock HazMat suits in the Tav Fancy? I'm sure we used to (if only to wear when -cleaning-- burning the chaise) The mozzies are a pain though... at Scaredy Cat - it's nice when they're so easily amused!

Holiday was the usual mix of walking, arguments, good food, sulks, reading, DH being baffled that we haven’t turned miraculously into The Waltons, and ice cream. So a success all in all
