In the ongoing saga of stuff breaking, my electric banket has given up the ghost. DH has tried to mend it, but has given up on it. It must be over 20 years old, so I can't complain. I'm going mad trying to get another one from Amazon as none of them are the right size. I'll either have cold feet or a cold back. Aaarrgghh.

Evening. As predicted I have been watching far too much sport - diving, cycling and modern pentathlon today, have saved up the athletics for this evening.

I did get out last night - FancyMan and I went to a comedy gig. Was lovely to have a change of scenery, if a little weird to be wedged in a crowd for the first time in well over a year.

Fucking soakaways and bloody temperamental pumps, that's all I have to say on the matter. FFS. Will have to borrow DF's pump and see if it is less useless. CuteKitten has also been trying to 'help' by mountaineering on the woodpile. CuteKitten, by the way, had morphed into Young Psychotic Cat while we were away. And yesterday, Scruffy took the chicks outside for the first time. Am still slightly worried about them being carried off by the Local birds of prey - much like the rabbit we saw on holiday, dangling form a buzzard's talons as it flapped off. (That was our holiday, not the rabbit's. OR it was a spectacularly bad holiday for the rabbit. )

Hope you manage to find another blanket Apricot Maybe you should go for one of those heated throws instead, and snuggle under it rather than over it?

Afternoon. After this morning's temper tantrum, you'll be pleased to know that pumping out is complete, the drain trap is unclogged, and none of the sinks are glugging any more.

I have had a shower than very through scrub, and need to think about prepping bread and butter pudding.

Comedy was good thanks. Warm up act was a bit lame - the one joke seemed to be that he was gay and liked cock. It was a mature audience so we've all seen those kind of gags before, it's not as subversive as he thought it was. Main act was much better, lots of laughter

I've found an electric blanket although it's a bit wider than my other one. DH is always hot in bed hahahahahahahahaha and doesn't like them so I have a single. He thinks it will be okay.

Afternoon. Nice day, lots of washing done and fetched in just in time for a downpour.

Oh dear. A body has been found in a lay-by on the main road by us, and they're treating it as murder. It's such a shock when it's so close to home. I needed to go to Sainsbury's this morning, but all the roads are closed off and in spite of going all around the Wrekin (local phrase) I failed.

New electric blanket has arrived, I'll try it out tonight.

Oh dear Apricot I know what you mean when it’s so close by.

We had glorious weather today which is not ideal when you’re doing a six mile round walk. Honestly, some folk are never happy . There was a lovely cafe in the middle of the walk and I finished off the visit with some locally made blackcurrant ice cream. Lots of noisy sheep and enormous cows. Not sure of tomorrow’s plans.

Have bought some blister plasters. Went for a mooch round nearby town, bought some earrings from a lovely little gift shop, and a couple of books from a charity shop. Been out for a meal which was delicious but I think I’ve eaten a bit too much. Sat outside earlier in the sunshine reading for a bit. Was lovely.
