Sunshine and cloud here. Wildlife report - 3rd mouse has been dispatched by CuteKitten. I think he's going to be a 'good mouser' I also suspect that our mouse population has been lulled into false sense of security since InconvenientCat died, and StupidCat really can't be bothered most of the time.

I have been doing some holiday prep for livestock-sitters, which involved dropping a tub of chicken food all over the floor. Now I'm doing holiday prep by sitting down and relaxing for a few minutes before I go and stare at my computer screen.

We are visiting friends and family for a week - first time we've seen the inlaws for... 18 months? Will hopefully be fun, but work is a bit and I suspect I'll be working for most some of the holiday. At least they have broadband now.

There are NO big jars of Marmite in our feeble excuse for a supermarket They only stock the silver podium and their own brand 'yeast extract' which sounds massively unappetising

Hurrah for more Olympic stuff today.

I've got no idea what the forecast for today is - it's cloudy and dull at the moment, but dry. We had about 3mm yesterday.

CuteKitten is purring away on my lap . Awww. I do need to turf him off though and log into work...

We’ve had big rain and thunderstorms on and off all day to about 6pm. I’d better stay under Aramis’s cloak though for safety.

In excellent news, LovelyMIL is home from the hospital.

In not excellent news, the freezer part of the fridge freezer is broken. Noticed it last night and tried a couple of things which seemed to work a bit but nothing doing this morning. So there was much rescuing of stuff that hadn’t defrosted —much— to be dropped off at sister’s house, trying to squeeze other stuff into the fridge and looking at everything else and thinking fuck it. DH keeps saying we can try some troubleshooting which means me googling stuff which won’t (and didn’t) work. I’m ready to sack it off and get a new one.

DS1 was supposed to be getting the train to join his girlfriend on her family holiday. First one he was supposed to get from BigCityStation was cancelled and then as he was about to get train from LocalishStation, the next BCS train was cancelled too so he had to come home. They’ve worked something out though and he’s getting a lift.

Importantly though, LovelyMIL is home so that outweighs the crappy stuff.

Argh for freezer, hurrah for MIL LetUs FFS at train cancellations.

We had lots of rain. I know this because I was up a ladder in sorting out gutters again and the rain gauge says we had about 1.5 cm, in about a hour. The garden is a bit squelchy.

I have been holiday prepping - getting out the grooming and milking kits for you all CuteKitten and StupidCat will be separated by a glass door Apricot - so StupidCat can hiss and bat at him to her heart's content without making contact.

I haven't even started packing clothes though and now StupidCat has jumped onto me and started purring her little heart out. I will make lists of things to pack....

Also - IRK Wicked?! It's so unfair of me to, um, use the internet.

Afternoon. It's been a nice day and I didn't do any washing.

Went to Sainsbury's this morning and bumped into DD. We're always doing that.

Shame about your freezer and fridge LetUs. We're going through a phase of stuff breaking. The kettle has a puddle underneath it every morning, the Karcher isn't charging properly and my car wouldn't start again this morning. Fortunately DH was here to put the charger on it. I he must get a new battery. Also, DH's electric golf trolley has broken and he keeps telling me all about what's wrong with it, as they do.

I now have a vision of StupidCat and CuteKitten

FML - I didn't hit 'post' this morning. But yes - it's very much like that except that Stupid cat hisses and bats at the glass while Cute Kitten looks bemused and chirrups hopefully at her.

After much to and fro nonsense and websites that say one thing re delivery times and then another when you go to checkout, have ordered a new fridge freezer. I hope we’re not on a stuff breaking streak.
