How was he when he woke up Letus? And how is the ankle?

Looking like more rain is imminent out there, am working at home today even though I am now free to leave the pest house Grin

LetUsPrey · 06/07/2021 10:50

He hasn’t gone to school. Got up, got dressed, had breakfast - all seemed fine. Generic I’m not sure I can go comments. I kept it light and breezy. Time to put his shoes on and said it was too painful. I suggested a few things, he got upset, I gave up. We had issues re Tuesdays a couple of months ago when remote learning - stomach ache etc. He assures me he’ll be better tomorrow and will go to school. I got cross and went to work and now feel like the shittest mum ever.

And it’s still fucking raining.

FancyFancy · 06/07/2021 12:59

Aw, you're definitely not a crap mum it is such a hard call when they have form for not wanting to go in

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/07/2021 13:36

LetUs - you're fab, and don't you let anyone (including yourself) tell you otherwise. Second guessing 'ill' children is a nightmare - far too much crying wolf going on to ever know if they're really not up to it - unless they have obvious symptoms.
DS is having a fit of the whinges about being tired in the morning. But is very definite that if he goes to bed earlier, he'll just lie awake being tired and stressed Hmm FFS child. He went to bed earlier last night, and we giggled together over Tom Hiddleston's CBeebies bed time story. Grin

We have rain tipping down, then sunshine, then more rain tipping down. I have put the washing on regardless. (And next door have lit a very smokey bonfire Hmm)

Afternoon. Cloudy and coldish here and it's just got very windy.

LetUs you are not a shit mum. It's not easy and they take advantage when they can.

I went to a follow-up appointment for my heart scan this morning. It wasn't with the lovely cardiologist, but with one of his 'team' who was a lady who looked about 20. Hmm My blood pressure was through the roof, which was to be expected after driving to the other side of town in the rush hour and having to find a parking space which is always a nightmare. I also had a ECG and the guy doing it apologised because he has a bad cold! Thanks for that. I asked him if he was sure it was a cold and he said he'd had a test and he was alright. Anyway, all seems to be well and they'll see me again for a scan in a year.

Whilst that was going on DH was in a big golf competition which he and his team won. Yay! It's not exactly the Open, but he came home with a posh cool bag, a bottle of Jack Daniel's and various vouchers, so he's happy.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 06/07/2021 18:02

Evening Smile We just have sun, sun, sun here Hmm

Lots of hugs Letus and Wine and Cake

I would also get a high blood preassure after doing that Apes Confused Congrats to MrApes!

LetUsPrey · 06/07/2021 19:21

Evening wenches.

Rain rain sun rain rain rain sun rain RAIN RAIN. Summer eh?

Not really had problems with him going into school before and he’s always been super keen to get 100% attendance. Hadn’t seemed much wrong with him when he was walking around last night and this morning. He’s now having a go at me because homework’s been set today due tomorrow and he doesn’t know what to do. He’s messaged the teacher and I’ve tried to find out what they’d already discussed about it last week. This morning and this now just bookends a truly crap day at work so I plan to settle down with a drink in front of a lovely calming Miss Marple.

Thank you for the kind words wenches. Means a lot

I also hope Helen’s neighbour’s bonfire got well and truly pissed on.

That sounds exactly the sort of situation you definitely don’t need before a blood pressure reading Apricot. Excellent news that all was well. And a big well done to MrApricot and his team!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/07/2021 20:42

Evening all. We have the same weather LetUs - it's just been lashing down again.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 06/07/2021 21:02

Would you believe it, he’s remembered something that he can write for his homework at 8.45pm.

I think Thursday’s weather is supposed to improve. It was loud rain on the way home - couldn’t hear the drama thing I was listening to.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/07/2021 23:18

Better late than never LetUs? Hmm

LetUsPrey · 07/07/2021 06:51

Morning wenches. I know Helen Hmm

Shocking night’s sleep but it’s a short work day so there’s that. It’s raining but tbh I’d be surprised if it wasn’t.

DS2 checked last night he could put his school shoes on so we’re all good for today so I don’t need to worry about any last minute can’t go to school claims.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/07/2021 07:47

Morning wenches. Am engaged in family birthday flailing, and trying to stop Cute BastardKitten biting me while I type.

Hurrah for DS2 school shoes going on ok...

Have a good day all...

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 07/07/2021 13:32

Am back in the office - feels weird Grin

Glad DS's ankle is improving

How is the flailing going Helen?

Congrats to MrA, is he going to treat you with those vouchers?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/07/2021 14:57

Flailing is vaguely under control... cake is prepped, we have been out and had a birthday outing. Flaked out in front of Wimbledon now.

How's the office?

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 07/07/2021 17:05

Afternoon. Aaaand it's raining again. Hopefully tomorrow we'll get some of WW's sun. Really jealous, it's so depressing here.

Well Fancy, the one voucher is for a round of golf at another club so that's no good to me, but the other is for afternoon tea somewhere we haven't been before, so that will be nice.

Glad MiniLetUs's ankle seems to be improved.

What cake are you making Helen?

Good luck to England this evening. Football

LetUsPrey · 07/07/2021 17:25

Evening wenches.

DS2 is happy because Sports Day is postponed to next week (soggy field - can’t think why) so he’ll be able to join in. I’d have been the opposite.

I’ve risked pegging out the washing when I got in and no rain so far.

The afternoon tea sounds lovely Apricot!

Tennis is not going to plan as far as I’m concerned. 🤞🏻For the football later.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/07/2021 18:34

Victoria Sponge (with added strawberries on top) in on the bar - help yourselves.

Shock at Wimbledon - nobody expects the Spanish inquisition Federer to have a bad day, ever. Who knew that he could, even?

We've actually had sunshine this afternoon - I'm sure it was forecast to rain Hmm Oh well - I'm not knocking it!

Excellent news re. Afternoon Tea Apricot.

I am evil parent of the year for telling DS he couldn't watch a 2hr+ film starting from 8pm. FFS.

You monster Helen! That poor child!

LetUsPrey · 08/07/2021 06:36

Morning wenches.

I think we’re in for a warm, non-rainy day here today. I’ve a wash on already which should finish before I go to work. Quite excited by the idea Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/07/2021 07:45

Morning All.

I'm looking forward to Sunday. I discovered a previously unknown talent for doing football commentary last night, so I may be divorced repeat that performance on Sunday. Grin If I can be bothered of course. I did only do the last 10 minutes or so, so I may be unable to stay interested for a full match, plus the commentary may get boring - there's a limited number of ways I can describe how 'the white people' and 'the blue people' (Italy do play in blue - yes?) kicking a ball about.

Washing is a good plan LetUs - it's sunny here too.

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 08/07/2021 16:48

Afternoon. Well that didn't go to plan. The forecast said sunny intervals all day so I got the washing out and did various jobs, then went and put my towels and pillows on the lounger. It then clouded over. Angry

Wildlife Report:

WhatsApp from DH to next door neighbour:
DH: Hi neighbour, there's a squirrel on the fence eating your strawberries. (Encloses pic)
Neighbour: Hi DH, it's not just the strawberries, he and his mate have demolished the 2 bird feeders and eaten all the bird seed in 3 days.
DH: Send for the police, they can catch them in the act. Grin

Smile for England but Sad for Federer.

Grin at Helen's undiscovered talent.

Swagger Inn 169 - Sod this for a game of --soldiers-- Musketeers - let's go somewhere hot and sunny.
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/07/2021 17:40

Oh yes - bloody squirrels. Despite netting and all, we did not have a strawberry patch - we had (apparently) and all-you-can-eat buffet for Squirrels. Bastards. We had about 3 strawberries from 20+ plants Angry at least they haven't managed to crack the squirrel-proof bird feeders.

I did washing today, and it monsooned this afternoon. Fortunately I had already brought in the still-slightly-damp washing.

Wildlife report - haresx2 and BigBirdOfPreyx1 while giving DH a lift to the garage and back.

Evening wenches.

Miraculously dry all day here. I have the added insurance at the moment of DS1 being home all day, although having said that I’m not sure how much I can rely on “sure mum, I’ll keep an eye on the weather” when his eyes will be fixed to his screens Grin

I had the Italian and Spanish teams mixed up for most of the first half the other night Helen so just referring to shirt colours seems perfectly reasonable to me. I occasionally listen to the commentary and if I can link a song lyric to what they said, I’ll burst into song. It really annoys DH Grin

Squirrels are sneaky sods aren’t they? Determined too. Perhaps the military will train them up for secret missions. Perhaps they already have ….

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/07/2021 22:13

Hmm at DS1 'keeping an eye on the weather' I suspect that he won't notice any weather unless it goes pitch black outside, the wind howls like a banshee, and the rain hammers against the window - if he's anything like DS. Grin
I need Athos sleep...
