Evening all. Busy day of picking up and fitting a new door (mostly DH to be honest) and gardening/laundry (me) I don't know how we cope with the excitement.

DS1 coming home today! Have to tidy his room from when DS2 was using it for remote schooling. Going to make a toffee loaf and I also have ironing. The forecast thunderstorms didn’t arrive but the rain did and we have it for most of this week.

Today's activities include playing taxi for DS, and I should also bake - we had bananas which are dying, so they need to go in a cake. I think DH wants to do more door work, which will mean he has to wake up. Not sure if there's a hangover in play or not. Meantime, CuteKitten is stretched out asleep on me. He's huge! How did he get so long?! We had vague progress yesterday - he and StupidCat were left in the same room unsupervised. StupidCat was very disapproving, but they ended up asleep on opposite ends of the sofa, which is as close as she'd let him come without cuffing him and hissing.

Yay for DS1 coming home today Letus, less so for the room tidying! That'll be me next week as DS is due for a visit on Wednesday and I've been using his room to work in. Probably ought to give it a good airing to dispel all the germs

Afternoon. The weird weather continues. Bright and sunny this morning so DH decided to prune the hedge. There was an immediate downpour so he had to give it up.

Seeing my DF's side of the family got me continuing with the family trees I started ages ago. One of my cousins sent me a huge one going back to the 1700s a few years ago, and I want to extract the information going back to my grandparents as DS has expressed an interest.

Yay for returning DC but not for having to clear rooms out.

Cat truce appear to work on the basis that StupidCat won't kill CuteKitten unless he gets too close. There is still lots of hissing/growling and batting, but not all out war yet

Family Treeing is fun Apricot but I never seem to have the time. I was fishing through the files a few weeks ago for some of the last work Mum did on it, which finally proved family legends of Huguenot ancestry. She never got round to actually updating the tree, so I must do that at some point.

So, this has taken at least 45 minutes to write, if not longer, what with kitten-shaped, child-shaped and general life-shaped interruptions.

Know all too well about disappearing stuff.....DS is terrible at looking after stuff, but I now take the view that if he wants to piss away his own money replacing stuff that's his call. Didn’t sleep very well and then the forecast light rain showers woke me up early so they were so light. And now DS2 is being a little sod and has only just got up.

Afternoon wenches. An unexpected turn to the day. Got a call from school probably around 9.30. DS2 fallen in PE and hurt his ankle. In pain and couldn’t put much weight on it. Anyway, they iced it and waited to see if he improved but he didn’t so it was quite fortunate DS1 is home. He collected him and I’ve taken half a day to take him to walk in centre. Thankfully, no sprain or achilles damage so it’s rest and ice, etc and no sport for about a week. I shall be being heartless mother and packing him off to school tomorrow.

Afternoon. No rain today so DH has been able to finish the jobs he wanted to do in the garden.

Went to Sainsbury's this afternoon while DH collected DGS. Shrieks of laughter coming from downstairs, think I'll leave them to it.

We are currently having “I don’t know whether I’ll be okay for school tomorrow”. DH and I are being all light and breezy and “oh, I’m sure you will be”. I have pointed out he managed to go outside and kick a football for a while earlier this evening . He said he wasn’t running though. That’s okay, you don’t run at school either. It’s a bit like his 100% attendance has gone now so might as well have another day off. Le sigh.
