Calling all smokers who roll their own...............

and before anyone starts, I don't want a debate on the wrongs of smoking, I already know them.

Anyhow, back to the subject.

Since the revelation that DH has the odd cigarette I've also discovered (well he discovered actually as he'd not tried before) that he's pretty good at rolling his own cigarettes. We've decided, since it's a lot cheaper, that he'll roll mine for me too (when I try they come out looking like "gone wrong Cigars that have been cut open on one side" ).

Anyway, at the moment we've just bought a pack of "Golden Leaf" tobacco from the local shop, some slim filters and a pack of green Rizlas.

Now what I want to know is -

What are the differences between all the different papers you can buy to roll your own? (when I bought the green pack there were loads and I bought the green as the lovely shop assistant said that was what most people use).

Are there lots of different types of tips???

What tobacco do you buy - Golden Leaf is ok (and cheap) , but I wouldn't mind spending a little more on some decent stuff given that it works out so much cheaper than buying cigarettes.

Do any of you buy online - and if so from where???

dh once took the baccy to work, after leaving m one on top of the telly.
it had been there all night and i took one drag and went back indoors for a glass of ice cold water!

Oh, and liquorice papers! They still sell them, in an orange packet. I quite like those ...

hi well my 50g bag will last me 4 weeks, so 12.grammes a weeK.

have to say I am quite a mean fisted, well practised roller tho, but still manage to put them out before the end!!!

if it weren't for my mum living in spain, it wouldcost so much more tho, but there we go.

i 2nd the making them in advance thing, you end up smoking more.

My mum does AND she rolls themto full and tight, thinner at the end like a back to front joint. You cant suck them at all.

pirate I won't smoke more - especially as long as DH is rolling them for me - I told him the minimum I'd need to keep me going until he gets in at 10pm.....and that's how many he rolled - I've already smoked less than I normally would as I've cut out some of the ones I have out of "routine".

So how many do you smoke a day (roughly?).

2 in the day and then another couple at night..

Blues are meant to be 'self extinguishing'.

Greens are for rolling in bad light so you can see which side has the sticky on.

King size are for stoners lorry drivers (so they have to roll less often )

I was a rollie smoker for years and years but gave up in August. Though I will still share one on a friday night if I,m in the pub .

Green papers have 'cut corners' making them easier to roll.

sushi mats are lot cheaper/easier than rolling machines if you are crap at rolling.

Personally I prefer blue papers (hate paper being to thick but too crappy at rolling to use silver), drum baccy, and swan normal filters (not extra slim ones, though will use if necessary).

oh you can get sushi mats at local oriental supermarket or our local markets do them (with big pictures of weed leaves on).

Before getting pregnant I used to smoke amber leaf, much nicer than the others and just used the papers that came with it and swan slimline filters.

DH rolls his own.

He likes Rizla papers, but Swan filters, teh extra slim ones.

He buys Golden Virginia baccy because a work mate erm, goes to Europe and sells it for £5 for a 50g pouch.

I hate amberleaf - always makes me feel slightly nauseous. NOt sure why.

Heard some horror stories about Golden Virginia.

There used to eb a baccy shop (specialist) in centre of Bristol. Not sure if it is still there.

I used to smoke vanilla tobbacco when I was 17 and still lived at home. My mum didn't know I smoked and she would come into my room and comment on the lovely smell.

I tell you what though after smoking rollies for a while if you have a normal fag they taste really thick and really toxic (obviously all tobacco is but bought fags are worse).
