Welcome one and all to thread 168. We're still going though because, (like the HBFs) we have stamina Grin and an unending supply of double-entendres and HBFs

Was there snow LetUs? We have the rain that was forecast. DS is being a grotbag over schoolwork and life is just peachy. Hmm Today feels like a duvet day, and tonight I AM going to bed at the same time as DS - or earlier, because I'm tired...

Morning
Drizzly here, although not too dull, and lots of birdsong, so it's feeling a little spring-like. Also I have Friday off, so it's a three day week for me - yay! Not that I can do anything exciting - DD & I may do some spring cleaning & then reward ourselves with pink wine & Lucifer in the evening.

ApricotCrush · 02/02/2021 16:21

Afternoon. Rain here.

Yay for LetUs Mum's jab.

DH's hair is okay. I cut it in the first lockdown and watched a YouTube video first. Hmm

Eeeek at deceased rodents. That's horrific about the nun. Sad

ApricotCrush · 02/02/2021 16:36

Oh, RIP Captain Sir Tom. Wonderful man. Sad

FancyFancy · 02/02/2021 16:50

Yay for DM having her jab yesterday letus, excellent news

Sad @ Capt Tom news

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 02/02/2021 18:58

🤮🤮🤮 about dead rodents Helen

I once found two mummified mice at the back of the stove when I was moving out, I never smelled anything so they probably been there the whole time. They were in a thingy at the back of the stove so I only saw their eyes and some fur, I let the landlord deal with that.

LetUsPrey · 02/02/2021 19:11

Evening wenches. RIP Captain Tom Sad

There was indeed snow which rapidly became slush which was extra slippery under foot. Lots of rain this afternoon though so it’s almost all gone.

🤢 Wicked

That’s an excellent thing to have to aim for Fancy for Friday.

The ghost of the nun was supposed to walk the corridors of the abbey/priory and the grounds. Part of it used to be let more recently as a holiday flat. Only stayed there once myself and the only thing that bothered me was the heating system’s inability to provide enough hot water for a bath. Late LovelyFIL though had stayed on several occasions and claimed to have seen her. He was a super level headed type but apparently he’d had a few wee drams Grin

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 02/02/2021 19:16

Snowed like crazy here today Confused

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/02/2021 21:09

pink wine & Lucifer - wench aspirations Grin

Sad re. Cpt Tom

Rain here - rain and persistent drizzle this morning, though this afternoon wasn't so bad.

I've just found out that I didn't get a job that I'd been asked about, which is good because I'm busy, but bad because it sounded like a lot more fun that most of the stuff I do. Ho hum, they know I exist anyway, so I may hear from them again - you never know. (Bet I don't.)

LetUsPrey · 03/02/2021 08:04

Morning wenches.

And that’ll be proper snow Wicked, not like what fell at mine.

I would give all the good jobs to you Helen.

I think it’s raining, it’s definitely wet. Had a blast of I Am What I Am whilst making breakfast. Thought it might be sort of life-affirming to sing and bop along. All it seems to have done is aggravate my hip. Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/02/2021 08:47

Well if your hip is sore LetUs, then you'll need to lie down and let the HBFs take care of you. Fact.

Dry here, but cloudy, so not very inspiring. DS is being a grotbag already. How very dare I make him wash up his breakfast bowl?! Shock

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 03/02/2021 16:25

Afternoon. Quie a nice day here, I can sense spring on the way. Smile

Eeek at the mummified mice. When I was sorting out my Mum's house when she moved to a flat I found the skeleton of what I think was a frog in a suitcase that had been in a cupboard for eons. It can't have been alive when it was put there, but how it got there I have no idea. It freaked me out. Shock

Shame about the fun job Helen.

FancyFancy · 03/02/2021 16:51

Afternoon - it's rather pleasant here too apricot, spring feels closer will probably snow tomorrow now

Speaking of getting warm - am constantly surprised that Lucifer wears a 3 piece suit much of the time - would've thought that was a bit warm for LA. I mean I'm not complaining as he looks fiiiine - would be even better with the jacket off mind.

Maybe it's cold compared to hell? But then everyone thinks he's English. Your average English person would be in shorts and T-shirt at those temperatures Grin

LetUsPrey · 03/02/2021 18:03

Evening wenches.

and do your washing up!

We’ve had rain mostly today.

Ick at frog Apricot.

Grin Fancy at considering Lucifer’s wardrobe and the LA temperatures. I think you’re right in that it’s cold compared to hell. I recommend you watch very closely, particularly his clothing, as important wench research.

Getting mightily fed up of attitude from colleagues when NiceColleague and I can’t fix their technical issues because it’s something that’s an ongoing problem that an IT company are working on. Appreciate it’s frustrating but it affects us too and sulking/tantrumming at us isn’t really on. Fuck them all.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/02/2021 20:22

Evening. It's not been too cold today, but that's due to change at the weekend Confused Lucifer will need full Arctic gear on if the forecast is to be believed.

I'm enjoying the sharing of 'mummified wildlife I have found in my house' stories Grin.

Work was spent bouncing from one meeting to another - phrase of the day: "I have to go, I have another meeting..." They all involved spreadsheets...

There were also more Confused comments from the builders. "WTF have they done here?!" was probably my favourite. I'm looking forward to the next round of comments once the ceiling come off.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 03/02/2021 20:48

Someone else who is looking fiiine is Johnny Lawrence in a tight fitting black shirt and snug pants kicking someone’s ass. Phwooaar Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/02/2021 09:37

Morning all. Sunrise was all silvery gold today and we've got blue skies, which is nice.
DS is sitting at his desk doing schoolwork and whistling Still, at least he's cheerful. Grin

I'm loving your summary of your working day helen

letus I never fail to be gobsmacked by the fuckwittery of some professional staff to support staff - I mean apart from the whole issue of failing to be a decent human being, have they not considered how useful and completely necessary these staff are? Pillocks.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 04/02/2021 17:33

Have the builders discovered something interesting today Helen?

ApricotCrush · 04/02/2021 17:49

Evening. Bit miserable today and it's raining again now.

Nothing going on here.

We're watching Perfect Planet. David Attenborough is a bit depressing as you said Helen, but it will be his legacy I suppose, he desperately wants to save the planet, bless him.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/02/2021 17:57

Work was spent bouncing from one meeting to another - I feel I should point out that the 'bouncing' was not done an enthusiastic Tigger-like way. It was more in the style of a squash ball ricocheting uncontrollably about in an enclosed area before gradually rolling to an exhausted halt in a corner. To be fair, BoringSpareRoomEmployers are being very "look after yourselves/your mental health is more important the the work" and telling people not to book meetings over lunchtimes, and saying we should all be going out for fresh air breaks, etc, so it's not that there's a culture of flogging us until we drop, it's just that there's a lot of work just now. LetUs - we all have to work from home now so you could join BoringSpareRoomEmployers and work remotely - my department is very lovely and appreciates me all its minions (at the moment).

Today DH has declared that my unsolvable spreadsheet/maths problem is indeed unsolvable (even if you 'use Sigma' and do freaky imaginary maths with it). Unfortunately he didn't phrase it as "You're right, it can't be solved for reasons-you-have-already-described - he told me it was impossible and then parroted my reasoning back at me as if it was a new concept to me. Sometimes I think he doesn't actually listen to me at all. Still, it was nice to have the impossibility confirmed by a better maths-brain than mine.

Sadly, I've not spent much time within earshot of the builders today Wicked, and since they've reached the point where they are doing actual work rather than getting rid of the previous badly-done work, there's less scope for incredulous horror such as yesterday's "This isn't even attached!". They will get to rip out more stuff in a day or so though, so that should be entertaining. I must put up dust sheets and stuff tonight though.

Hope everyone's had an ok day...

-13 here Confused

LetUsPrey · 04/02/2021 20:44

Evening wenches.

I would love to work with any wench because you’re not unappreciative dickheads. In fact, the opposite. Also, here’s to the use again of pillock Grin

I’m loving Perfect Planet. I really enjoy the bit at the end too where they show how much goes into filming it.

Grrr at MrHelen and explaining things back in your own words.

-13 Wicked?! Blimey. Wrap up in HBFs to keep warm.

FancyFancy · 04/02/2021 20:49

Yikes ww stay warm!

We would be awesome colleagues letus and have the best office decorations EVER
