Welcome one and all to thread 168. We're still going though because, (like the HBFs) we have stamina Grin and an unending supply of double-entendres and HBFs

I'm thinking that when you visit LetUs, we won't go to the beach and throw chips into the air for the gulls to catch... Grin

Night all...

LetUsPrey · 23/04/2021 22:09

Like exposure therapy ? Grin

We have watched a mostly boring football match and now have a boring snooker match on. It’s okay though because the snooker has additional commentary from DH. I may head to the hayloft.

LetUsPrey · 24/04/2021 09:07

Morning wenches.

Not sunny but quite warm so there’s a wash out already and another on the go. There will also be homework wrangling today. Not sure of any other plans.

FancyFancy · 24/04/2021 14:04

Afternoon
Had a nice day yesterday with FancyMan, had to change our plans somewhat when DD arrived home from school hours early Blush so did a bit more gardening and went for a walk.

Yikes to the cold shower talk Shock

How's psychotic cockerel now Helen?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/04/2021 14:51

Afternoon all. I think we have the same weather LetUs - I have been out in the greenhouse potting on the vegetables which DH always sows too early, and then rampage out of control in the greenhouse getting ridiculously pot-bound, So I've been productive and now feel fully justified in having a sit down/read/eat/mooch online.

I have sussed the cold shower thing. It's in the gradual temperature decrease, without turning off the hot tap completely, so it's a chilly shower, but not a baltic, glacial-meltwater-cold shower Grin

Psychotic cockerel is fine now thank you - staling about and looking psychotic again. And eek! At unexpected arrival of DD. How massively inconsiderate of her. Grin

LetUsPrey · 24/04/2021 15:48

Lots of washing done with the consequence of an Ironing Mountain to be climbed tomorrow.

at change of plans due to early arrival home of FancyDD.

Gradual shower temperature decrease sounds more sensible than “fuck me thats fucking freezing”. I’ve been sitting outside with headphones on, doing a sudoku. Must remember to make DS2’s bed though.

Excellent news re psychotic cockerel!

ApricotCrush · 24/04/2021 17:38

Afternoon. Same weather here. I've been sitting outside doing a sudoku too LetUs. Didn't get very far with it, I only got 2 numbers in on the first run through and it didn't get much better. Confused

I've also been helping DH with the perspex roof. Shock It involved being up a ladder Shock and fitting in spacer-thingies above a beam so he could screw them in from above. Good job he didn't tell me there were 21 of them or I would probably have run off. I don't do heights, I get giddy on a thick carpet. Shock

Yes, seagulls are aggressive, I've seen them grab sandwiches. I did think of the band when I posted that. Are they still going then?

FancyFancy · 24/04/2021 17:49

@ getting giddy on a thick carpet - what a fabulous phrase Grin

LetUsPrey · 24/04/2021 19:59

Love that description Apricot Grin I think you were brave to go up the ladder.

The internet tells me that A Flock of Seagulls are indeed still going.

I have gone old school with this evening’s viewing. I’ve started Robin of Sherwood from the beginning. I did rather like Michael Praed Grin

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 24/04/2021 20:16

Oooh, Michael Praed, had such a crush on him eons ago Smile

LetUsPrey · 24/04/2021 22:01

He was lovely in Dynasty too

DH has put Jonathan Ross on. Boy George is on - they’ve just said he’s 60 this year! Whaaaaatttt?

Although DH has just left the room so I’ve turned over to Mock the Week.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/04/2021 22:30

at stealth channel changing Grin

Eeek to Boy George being 60.

Michael Praed was very pretty... Was that the series with Clannad doing the theme tune? (Robin Hood - not Dynasty, obvs. He was Prince of Moldavia (not Thieves) or something there?)

getting giddy on a thick carpet is a marvellous expression Grin

Wenches - it is bright, and sunny, and NOT FROSTY!!! Hurrah!

Wildly report - angsty. Finches are chasing each other off the food, and the buzzard is being mobbed by crows because they both want to nest in the same trees.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 25/04/2021 09:06

Morning wenches.

Beautifully sunny here too.

He was indeed Prince of Moldavia.

We have birds that are very loud and excited about all the food DH put out yesterday.

Today I shall be ironing and possibly having a bath as there’s a lot of football on later. And the obligatory homework shenanigans.

ApricotCrush · 25/04/2021 16:25

Afternoon. Lovely day here, but a cold wind. I came in from sitting in the sun frozen. Confused

Oh dear. DH is planning on watching a football match which he thinks is on this evening. I looked online to see what time it starts and it was this afternoon and I've seen the result. Shock Now I've got to sit through it without giving anything away. If I say I don't want to watch he'll know. Awkward. Hmm

I loved Michael Praed in Robin of Sherwood and Dynasty too.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/04/2021 20:36

Evening. There's another football match on just now Apricot - would that one do instead?

It's been warm in the sunshine today, but cold as soon as the clouds come in. We had one of those annoying walks today where you're constantly taking clothes on and off

Gardening and bonfires have been done. I'm a bit whacked and will be having an early night. (Unless I start reading my book, in which case I will styay up later than planned and curse myself for it tomorrow.)

LetUsPrey · 25/04/2021 20:43

Oh dear MrApricot. If it’s the premiership one DH was really looking forward to today, he’s not missed much.

Ironing done, parent visiting done, homework shenaniganed, all washing away, and even got to sit outside with a book for a bit. Now watching Galaxy Quest and ignoring DH who has apparently decided to be in an epically grumpy easily irritated mood, which is odd considering this is one of his favourite films.

Line of Duty once DS2’s in bed, so at about 11pm at this rate.

FancyFancy · 25/04/2021 21:37

Had a very Sunday sort of day - pottered & got some chores done. May do a bit of ironing now, was planning a bath & a new book but DD came back from her dad's a day early at least I wasn't in a compromising position this time and used all of the hot water so need to do something while I wait for the tank to heat up again

The robins have at least one chick - one of them fed it in the tree near the feeder on Friday Smile

Last day off tomorrow before going back to work on Tuesday. Boo.

LetUsPrey · 26/04/2021 07:35

Morning wenches.

That is very Sunday on the scale of Sundayness Fancy. Awww at baby robin! Enjoy your last day off.

Sunny here. Birds are tweeting away.

Line of Duty was very good last night. Still don’t understand most of it but excellent nevertheless.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/04/2021 09:11

Morning all. Cloudy, birdy (no chicks out and about though), etc etc...

This morning's excitement was my phone pinging at me (and being ignored because I was upstairs and it was downstairs), and then the landline ringing (Cue me, from under a duvet and StupidCat: "Oh FFS, it'll be DS, what's wrong?") DS school bus had broken down - so what did he want me to do...? Was this just for information or did he want a lift? Good question.... He finally decided that he'd like a lift to school rather than wait for the replacement bus. So I did that and then got home to DH swearing at the internet because it was mysteriously not working. And then it mysteriously was again. No idea what that was about either, other than the hub wanted to show off the array of colours that it can produce. Maybe it has delusions of working at a disco and being feted for it's dazzling technicolour displays, rather than being stuck away in our utility room and only being paid any attention when it goes wrong. Maybe we should try positive parenting techniques on the hub and praise it when it's doing a good job and has that lovely blue light on. Hmm

I want to see Galaxy Quest - I did see half of it once, but the bloody Sky box only recorded half of it because it was on one of those channels where they literally split the film in two. FFS and all that.

I suggest a midday bath'n'book Fancy since you're on holiday still - assuming that DD doesn't scupper your plans this time...

Have a good day all.

Sorry for not being that active on MN. I'm making my apartment ready for viewing, hopefully this weekend and I'm also signing the lease for my cottage on thursday and I also might lose my job since the company need to chuck some people out Hmm

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/04/2021 13:41

Oh wicked - that's shit (the job thing, not house stuff) Sad Have they given any timescales for redundancies, or is it all just speculation and gossip at the moment.

OP posts:
WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 26/04/2021 13:50

30 medical secretaries have to go, we are 138 at the moment. Negotations with the union is this Friday. It's supposed to be last one in, first to go, but who knows.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/04/2021 15:29

Sad Fingers crossed for you. I'm sure you'll be fine. Otherwise Kylo will be round to sort them out then he can sort you out too. Grin

Actually, he'll be round to see you anyway.

ApricotCrush · 26/04/2021 17:46

Afternoon. Nice day, I did some tidying up and pruning in the garden this afternoon as it's bin day this week.

Awww at robin chick Fancy. I haven't seen any chicks, but the robins are very busy. I'm sure they communicate, I often look up and there's one less than a yard away.

We've had tech trouble this afternoon too Helen. DH tried to log into the laptop, the password didn't work so he tried again, and again and then in the end it locked him out. Shock Turns out the caps lock was on. Shock I switched everything off which is my answer to everything and then it worked. Phew!

Don't worry about not understanding Line of Duty LetUs, even the MN LoD hardcore fans are bemused by last night's episode. Confused

Yay for signing the lease WW, and everything crossed for your job.
