Welcome one and all to thread 168. We're still going though because, (like the HBFs) we have stamina Grin and an unending supply of double-entendres and HBFs

Afternoon
Need to get out to mow the lawn before it starts to rain still at least I can add the clippings to the compost bin which should raise the temperature .I am officially a bin nerd Grin

ApricotCrush · 11/04/2021 16:21

Afternoon. Nice day here, cold, but the washing has dried so that's good.

Oooo, you could be right Helen. You see I was looking in the Gardens section and the long-tailed tit is in Broad-Leaved Woodlands. Hmm I'm not sure that he had any pink on him but DH said he did have a long tail, so yes, that's probably it. I haven't seen him (or her) again, but will keep a look-out.

Line of Duty tonight.

FancyFancy · 11/04/2021 18:37

Lawn mown and fed. The promised shower has not arrived though Still, it looks tidier out there.

Comedy & pizza night tonight - DD has got me into Derry Girls. the Head Nun is bloody hilarious Grin No faf though - boo!

LetUsPrey · 11/04/2021 19:13

Evening wenches.

Not much done other than ironing. Oh and banning DS2 from everything because he was beyond ratbag this morning. Sigh.

I’m watching Wellington Paranormal with DS2 Grin. Line of Duty tonight with DH, or as he said “so are we watching Silent Witness tonight?” I’ll add Derry Girls to the list . NiceColleague has been recommending it for a while.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/04/2021 20:43

Evening all. We have been in the garden most of the day, again. I got washing on the line and spent the afternoon trying to decide if we were having a quick shower of rain, or if the washing had to come back in. It got mostly dry in the end. I think we may have had your showers though Fancy.

Apricot - do you think that anyone told them they're meant to be in the woods?Hmm Grin They seem to spend an awful lot of time in our garden.

We're watching Transformers Last Knight. Dear Lord it's awful. I think Santi is meant to be in this one at some point? DS is enjoying it though.
Derry Girls looks fab, but we've never watched it. Oh - here's Santi. (and gone again).

Morning. It is bright and sunny and cold (except when its being cloudy and cold). This morning I had a blackbird telling me to hurry up with the food, and one of the robins looking slightly bemused to have been usurped from it's role as '1st food demander'.

We're back to school/work here, so there is a metaphorical cloud of gloom over the house. (Though I am sitting on the sofa/under a cat, basking in the sun.) Have a good day all...

Morning wenches. It’s not a great film is it Helen Grin

I like to think there’s a stand off now between the robin and the blackbird

I am taking advantage of my week off and am still in bed! Getting up though now as I shall be berating myself later for wasting the day.

ApricotCrush · 12/04/2021 17:35

Afternoon. Did a food shop this morning and then went a walk round the road. Still cold. DH had lunch at the golf club outside and got covered in hail and came home frozen. Hmm

We do seem to be having some strange birds in the garden at the moment. DH saw a pair earlier with vivid red breasts (not robin or bullfinch) and white spots on black tails. By the time I got there they had flown off. Google failed to find them. Confused

Totally lost the plot with Line of Duty, although I may have rested my eyes for a couple of minutes. Confused Will have to watch again.

Hope everyone's day went well.

FancyFancy · 12/04/2021 18:54

Have had a relaxed day - dentist, walk to the shops with FancyMan, lunch etc - the usual lockdown stuff!

We did get a shower overnight helen so hopefully the lawn will green up.

I am intrigued by your mystery birds apricot.....

LetUsPrey · 12/04/2021 20:20

Evening wenches.

Hope MrApricot has thawed out by now. We’re —very- a bit lost with Line of Duty too but it doesn’t help that we’ve never seen the first four series.

That does sound a rather relaxing day Fancy.

Got a couple of loads of washing done and dried. Did a bit of shopping with DS2. Was sunny for the most part but flipping chilly. Wouldn’t have enjoyed sitting out because of - grump alert - the constant noise from next door’s kids and their friends. Yes, I know it’s super that children play outside and get lots of fresh air but this was constant shouting and screaming from 10am to about 4pm. I don’t know how they kept it going. I suspect some kind of tag team system. Could hear them in the house with the windows shut too. And the neighbour on the other side finds it compulsory to have all phone calls outside on speaker.

Clearly I need to live away from people.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/04/2021 21:36

So, today has mostly been work, playing taxi for DS, and booking a covid job for some antisocially early hour on Wednesday - just in time for returning to BoringSpareRoomJob and feeling too rough to doooo iiiiitttt. Hmm The weather has been mostly lovely to look at, but very cold to be outside in. Someone at work said they'd had snow in Surrey today. Shock This evening we've watched Unbreakable, which DS enjoyed - his education continues Grin.

Other people are very annoying LetUs - our neighbours will insist on talking to each other in their garden. Massively thoughtless of them - only we are allowed to talk outside. Grin

Was it a Chaffinch Apricot? The males have bright orange chests and heads, and white bars on their black tails

I'm jealous of your relaxed day Fancy - and especially of your dentist!

FancyFancy · 12/04/2021 23:42

I was supposed to wait for them to call me to arrange an appointment but got fed up waiting so rang them Grin have also been to the hygienist - most welcome

Yay for getting a COVID jab booked helen

Morning wenches. Hurrah for jab Helen!

And yes, only wenches are allowed to go into their gardens Everyone else has to stay inside. Honestly why can’t next door’s children and friends sit inside all day playing computer games like normal children Grin

Today I think I’m going to local bookshop which also sells jigsaws. I’ll be supporting local businesses and boosting the economy. I’m such a selfless hero Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/04/2021 07:47

Morning. It's lovely and bright and sunny again, with a hard frost on the ground. Even the birds weren't daft enough to come out of the hedge for food first thing. The robin has been out since, and I've just waved a pigeon away.

ApricotCrush · 13/04/2021 16:50

Afternoon. Sunny this afternoon and a bit warmer, I went and sat out in the garden for an hour of so.

Yes, neighbours are annoying. We have a lady over the road who I swear lies in wait for people passing by and jumps out to talk to them. She's very pleasant and friendly, but she's so loud.

It doesn't really help to have seen the previous series of Line of Duty LetUs as there are about two years between them so the plots and characters have been forgotten. Confused

Yay for jab Helen. DS has had his first one too.

I showed DH a pic of a chaffinch, and he says it could have been.

FancyFancy · 13/04/2021 17:03

Afternoon
Bit warmer here too thank god.

Yes helen is good with her bird identification Smile

I think I am pretty damn lucky with my neighbours - well somewhere there is bonfire wanker, but all the close neighbours are really nice & devoid of annoying habits. When I was doing loads of gardening recently I was accompanied by the sound of someone practising violin (mercifully they were very good!) Grin

LetUsPrey · 13/04/2021 17:30

Evening wenches.

Bit cooler here but got the bedding done. Dressing gowns tomorrow if I can stand the excitement. Went to bookshop and ordered new book. She does second hand books (which I knew) and jigsaws (which I didn’t) so I got a Shardlake novel for £2 and two jigsaws for £5 each. I’ve had my eye on one of them from John Lewis so I’m quite glad I didn’t buy it before.

DS2 and I went for a walk this afternoon because I really fancied getting complained at for about 40 minutes. Saw/heard lots of bird so could have done with OrnithologistHelen.

That’s reassuring to know about Line of Duty Apricot. Glad you were able to spend some time in the garden.

Gardening to violin practice sounds lovely Fancy Smile

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 13/04/2021 19:06

Changed to summer tyres today, so hope it won’t snow again like it did yesterday Hmm
Woke up at 5 this morning and couldn’t go back to sleep so feeling a bit sleepy.

FancyFancy · 13/04/2021 22:49

Dropped my car keys in the compost bin. Don't ask

Sounds like a relaxing day letus, apart from being moaned at Grin

Fingers crossed for no more snow ww, winter needs to properly piss off

FFS - I sent wicked off for a nice hot bath last night, complete with HBF GIF and the whole message was still sitting trying to post this morning.

Anyway. Morning all. I'ts all bright and sunny and white again this morning. Birds are stuffing their faces - Robin beat the blackbird to the table this morning - the blackbird's been pecking insects at the window again. We are very lucky to have a vast array of birds here, so I ought to be good at id'ing them - apart from what are commonly known as LittleBrownJobs, which are usually indistinguishable female finches. etc.

Now I must away to get dressed and get jabbed. I'm looking forward to having a better phone signal... Wink

(PS - eek at KeysInCompost. Though better than the PhoneInToilet situation...)

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 14/04/2021 08:41

Morning
Oh I've done PhoneInToilet as well - luckily it was an old Nokia, seemingly the cockroach of the mobile phone world, worked perfectly after drying out Grin

This morning I saw a blue tit on the roof outside my bedroom window collecting cat hair from the gutter. Nice to know me being too lazy to take hair I've removed from my bed to the bin benefits wildlife - I shall continue throwing it out the window.

LetUsPrey · 14/04/2021 09:25

Morning wenches.

Here’s hoping the snow does indeed stay away.

Was there even a brief moment where you thought “do I really need those keys?” and then sort of eyerolled at yourself?

Happy jabbing Helen!

Awwww at birds using the cat hair. Our bird feeders are empty of birds right now. Perhaps they’re having their after breakfast snooze.

Dressing gowns in the machine and engineer due later from alarm company as alarm keeps randomly going off when it’s not even set. Think there’s an issue with an upstairs sensor. Hopefully do a garden visit to the parents in the afternoon.

ApricotCrush · 14/04/2021 16:48

Afternoon. Warmer here too.

I've been strangely motivated to do jobs today, but unfortunately I start one then get side-tracked by another and then another and end up with ten unfinished jobs. Confused And my back didn't appreciate lugging the vacuum cleaner up and down stairs. I won't be able to move tomorrow.

Oh dear Fancy, I bet retrieving them was fun. Well done for helping the local birds with their nest building.

Hope Helen's jab went well. DD had her second one today.

Also hope the snow keeps away WW and LetUs's alarm has been sorted.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 14/04/2021 19:18

It’s the thought that counts Helen Smile
