Afternoon. Still somewhat chilly here.

I went 'up town' this morning, as we say around these parts. Actually we were made a city 20 years ago, but it has never been a city to me. I thought I'd go before it gets busy next week with all the shops opening up. I was quite surprised at how many are open now. Nice to just potter round and pick up a few bits and pieces.

Afternoon. We had a very nice walk, followed up with very nice cake, so all is good. I've also spent most of the afternoon baking. Today I shall be mostly following the advice of Marie Antoinette (misquoted or not)

Yay for getting 'up town' Apricot. It's very nice doing 'normal' things. I have four things in the diary now for this year - get me and my social life!

Your walk and cake sound great Helen, as does your trip up town Apricot. As Helen said, it’s nice doing “normal”. I’m looking forward to my local bookshop reopening —they also sell jigsaws— and to getting my hair cut.

Fed up with higher ups at work saying they have something urgent for NiceColleague and I to do but oh dear the stuff for it isn’t at work so it only gets brought in at the last minute. Fucksake.

Played Mario Kart with DS2. There’s a circuit called Cheese Land. I thought of wenches

And now the washing machine is beeping at me.

My washing machine doesn't talk to me. But it is about 20 years old so doesn't have any fancy modern stuff.

Yay for a week off LetUs.

Oh and RIP Prince Philip, shame he didn't make his 100th.

He was at the same electrical exhibition as DH many years ago. DH was going down a flight of stairs two at a time and DoE was going up and DH nearly knocked him flying. Could have been nasty.

Today I have worked, again. More. Like everyone else really, but it just feels like a bit of a grind just now.

I have lost all track of what day it is over the Easter holidays.

Also agree it's a shame about DoE - lots of nice stories coming out about peoples' meetings with him.

DS1 going back today. I shall miss him, as will DS2. He seems to have been calmer with him her so we shall see how that pans out over the next few weeks.

Usual weekend stuff and the weather looks okay.

Worked between 7-9, then foodshopping and also bought Pimms! Shopped as fast as possible to get away from people. A bit tired now.

It is rather monotonous isn't it helen? roll on being able to go more places for a change of scenery!. It's drizzly and grey here so not even a day for getting out in the garden.

Lancelot was looking fiiiiine last night, sadly I think it's a while before we see him again.

Afternoon. Your weather sounds like ours Fancy, miserable with sleet showers.

at blackbird. Funnily enough, we had a little bird doing that the other day and I didn't know what he was doing. We watched him for ages, tapping his beak on the window. I couldn't see any insects on there. I grabbed my Book of British Birds as I didn't recognise him. Nearest I got was Gold Crest although he hadn't got any gold on his head.

I've been shortening some golf trousers for DS. I get all the sewing jobs for both DC. I don't mind, makes me feel needed.

Hope DS2 settles down without his brother LetUs.

My mum has always done sewing jobs (well, ones that need to look decent) for us too.

Started off quite nice today and my sisters came round and we sat in the garden, but then it went rather cold.

I’m happy that DS1’s happy but blimey I do miss him when he goes back.

I am off for bath’n’book.

It started cold here, and then the sun broke through later on, which probably means a cold night. We've been in the garden most of the day - more drains work, and DH has a new garden gadget which he needed help setting up - kind of like needing 5 hands to stuff pills into cats, but fewer claws and more nuts/bolts. Much weeding was done (happy chickens).

We've been watching Sense and Sensibility, which DS giggled through, and played 'Spot the Harry Potter Actor'. Alan Rickman can read poetry to me any time he wants...

for LetUs and miniLetUs, and yes to mothers doing the sewing jobs. I fear that the standards of mending round here have dropped somewhat
