Welcome one and all to thread 168. We're still going though because, (like the HBFs) we have stamina and an unending supply of double-entendres and HBFs

Thank fuck it's Friday. Have next week off work too and neeeeeeed that time off as I seem to have done little beyond work all week. Have been feeling a bit off since my jab too - escaped any dramatic side effects but my digestive system has been feeling unsettled and my mouth tasted funny. No change in actual taste and smell of anything else and negative LFT earlier in the week, so I think that was a vaccine thing. This morning seems to be an improvement thank god.

Sounds as if it was side effects of the vaccine Fancy, but glad you're alright now.

DH seems to be fine, although he's working on the roof again and we had a hailstorm which was rather a panic to get everything covered up.

Work was crap. DS2 is complaining loudly about something and I’m hiding in my room.

Usual Saturday here. Also going to make cakes with DS2 to make up for the ones he made at school which didn’t quite turn out right.

Morning. I have a cat on my lap and a sudoko that I can't do. I also have plants that need to be planted and we have painting to do.

Weather looks quite nice - cloudy with sun, but quite windy.

Afternoon. Got a particularly fiddly piece of work done yesterday and sent the resulting colour coded workings spreadsheet off to the client who will be doing the final step. Assuming they can follow my workings . Continue to feel better and planning to spend the afternoon in the garden. And then spend the evening watching TV and drinking pink with DD.

Afternoon. Yes, he's fine, but back on the roof again. He's doing some re-tiling at the moment, which doesn't look that different, but it keeps him happy and he's able to give me full details of how it's going.

I'm sitting here looking at a school shirt of DGS's that DD wants me to do an alteration to which involves cutting and working a buttonhole round the neck to insert one of those tabs on elastic with a button on the end. I think I'll leave it until tomorrow.

Yay for getting tricky work done Fancy Hope the gardening went well. I did weeding, and planted some sweet peas. DH did painting, and I washed some of the floor. Also, chicken herding, because they escaped. To be fair, they're not exactly hard to lure back into their run - shake a tub of corn at them and they'd follow you into an oven

Glad to hear that MrA has survived another session on the roof and that Apricot is fulling informed Bet you can't wait for Monday

Evening Worked between 7-9 Then drove to another city to have pizza with my sis and one of my nieces, nice to finally meet up. Then after getting home I was totally knackered and fell asleep on the couch drooling on a cushion

We were going to watch Rush tonight, because I thought it started at 9pm. It doesn't. I'm having bath instead while DS watches Death in Paradise.

That sounds a bit like DH here Apricot. Did lots of gardening (explaining what he was going to do first) and then explained what gardening he’d done. Went for a run, having explained his planned route, and then told me about his run when he got back. He even - and I think this was my favourite part - later showed me his route on the app on his phone.

Cakes went very well. DS2 did most of it, although I had to demonstrate folding in the floor (no DH, it’s not the same as just stirring it in), so he can legitimately say he made them.

Haven’t done much today. Did bath’n’book. Have just started a book about Charles Sobhraj, The Serpent, but I think I’ll probably read it in small chunks.

Planted the last of the new plants - have started on changing the bottom of the garden. Was serenaded by a robin the whole time. In reality it was probably shouting at me to piss off so it could scour the freshly dug earth for worms.

I shall have to take an umbrella for the driveway parent visit. Also there will be ironing and homework reminding.

We watched Line of Duty last night. We too had a list of acronyms open whilst watching it Apricot.

Afternoon. I had a lie-in and brunch and my back aches from the gardening yesterday, which wasn't even that hard-going or enthusiastic. FFS. Maybe I should just turf over all the flower beds On the plus side, it's a distraction from the pulled hamstring

There was a little bit of drizzle here, but no actual rain, Just cloudy and windy. Not cold though. Hope that either MrA isn't on the roof today, or it's not at windy.

I think Wicked's fall asleep idea is a good one too.

Am being massively lazy today. Mostly because I need to do some cleaning and I am putting that off.

Afternoon. It is windy and he is on the roof, but he's working on a flat bit which is in a sort of valley so he's not in danger of being blown off.

Today I've finished the jumper which I set a target to finish by the end of February so I'm only a month late.

I've also done the buttonhole on DGS's shirt but now need the sewing machine and have realised that I broke the needle last time I used it, so have to search for another one.

Not sure if we’ll done Line of Duty. I’m rather tired.

Been tired all weekend, getting up early yesterday and today didn't help. I never get 8 hours sleep at night, more like maybe 5-6, I have trouble falling asleep and I also wake up during the night. Can't wait for next week, only working four days and then four days off in a row (except that I work 7-9 on Friday.

Evening all. Another for Wicked at feeling knackered. It's shit when you don't sleep well.
I'm always impressed by any knitting, so finishing a project like that a month late is still awesome Apricot.

Today has been mostly painting (again) but with gloss this time, and badly - so I need to sand down and re-paint - FMPainting. Also much cooking. I made Queen of Puddings which took a while and then the oven tray was set too high, and the meringue got stuck to the top element. FMCooking. And that was after the oven went BANG (in solidarity with the chickens I presume) and tripped the switch. (Actually, it turned out that a bulb blew and took the whole thing offline.)

Then there has been much excitement because DS has a SportingCamp thing next week, so we hauled out all his stuff and discovered that he's grown out of his footwear. He's now wearing DH's spare set And then I started flailing slightly because he needs a packed lunch, and I haven't had to think about those for months I think I've got enough things together to stop him starving, and I baked some cakes as well, to be sure.

So there we go. Now I'm back to being a cat bed. (Though a few minutes ago I had her chasing a piece of string, which is always fun.)

Hope that Fancy has managed to have a lazy day and that the cleaning got done by someone else magic.

I hope Helen didn’t go straight to the hayloft after that rub down. With the amount of lotion Athos used all that straw will have stuck to her oh dear . Helen, you’ll just have to get in the shower with him.

Getting back into that routine is rubbish.

Anyway it’s Monday and it’s actually sunny. And it’s a short week so hurrah!

Afternoon all. Hurrah for sunshine and golf. I have taken DS to sportything (and got a phone call on my way home to say he didn't have some equipment that he needed, which is pretty basic tbh and we're all complete idiots for not noticing. Fortunately it's so basic that SportyPlace should have some he can use.)

Anyway... DS is at sportything and DH has gone off to the local walk-in clinic with something in his eye (left from weekend gardening). I did, literally, run up the stairs announcing happily "I'm all alone in the house!!!" Or words to that effect. Which, obviously, woke up Stupid Cat who needed to demonstrate that I was wrong, and I wasn't alone, because she was still here and needed to yowl at me and sit on my lap and lean her head on my arm while I tried to type. I would much preferred to have been in the shower with Athos. LetUs, but there we go.

Also, aloneness in the house isn't all it's cracked up to be when you have to be working anyway. (I have two people asking me to take on new projects, though I may have sabotaged one by not replying last week.)
