Welcome one and all to thread 168. We're still going though because, (like the HBFs) we have stamina Grin and an unending supply of double-entendres and HBFs

LOL at not being mentally prepared LetUs Grin
Am heading for bath'n'book now. See if I can mitigate the damage from today's gardening efforts.

Morning wenches.

Hopefully Athos took care of any twinges Helen

It seems dry so far and I think the forecast is good so I’ll be torturing DS2 by making him go for a walk with me.

Garden bird count - 0.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/02/2021 09:03

Morning. Athos was non existent very attentive, as ever. Grin

I am off out shortly to meet friend with horses in a socially distanced mooch around the fields. DS will be tortured with homework today because he hasn't done what he promised yet.

Birds - the usual assortment. We've had three robins for a while - I assume they will whittle themselves down to two eventually.

What book are you reading LetUs? I'm meandering through The Old Ways by Robert Macfarlane.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 21/02/2021 10:07

It’s Shadow of Night Helen - the second book in the Discovery of Witches trilogy. I must get the third one ordered.

Enjoy mooching around with friend and horses.

I must shower and dress and do the driveway visit to the parents. But first, Mario Kart.

FancyFancy · 21/02/2021 12:50

Afternoon
Had a very lazy day yesterday - did manage a walk with FancyMan though, wow it is soooo much warmer!

Catching up with some work today, nothing strenuous so will hopefully be able to fit in a call with DS. When he wakes up Grin

DD & I had our usual Friday night pink 'n' Lucifer night. He continues to wear waistcoats a lot. This is most welcome, but doesn't help with following what little plot there is.

ApricotCrush · 21/02/2021 17:21

Afternoon. The weather app says it's warmer, but as it's still raining I haven't been out.

Had a driveway visit from DS this morning, he'd come to return something he borrowed from DH. First time I've seen him since the driveway exchange of presents at Christmas.

DH is fitting lighting round the bottom of the kitchen units. He meant to do it 10 years ago when he refurbed the kitchen, but has only just got round to it. Hmm This means the kitchen is upside down again. I'll be so glad when the golf is back.

Grin at following what little plot there is on Lucifer.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/02/2021 18:06

Evening.

It's Spring! There was a Brimstone butterfly in the garden this afternoon, plus the first bumblebee I've seen too. Have got loads done in the garden and will need another bath to recover tonight. DH has been up a tree wielding a chainsaw again, which is probably up there with MrA and his ladders/electrical adventures. Confused

Does the book match the series LetUs? Or do you read it and think "That didn't happen on the TV.... Who are they? That didn't happen either..."

I have to go and do cooking things...

LetUsPrey · 21/02/2021 20:03

We also did a DS video call Fancy. He’s thankfully sorted accommodation for next year so that’s one thing off my mind. Plenty more to take its place though.

Went for a walk with DS2. Goodness me, the whining.

Same here re gyms and DH sport stuff re reopening Apricot. Hurrah for driveway visit!

There’s an awful lot more characters in the books Helen and a lot more stuff going on. As far as series 2 is concerned, it’s quite out of sequence with events in book 2 but they’re both enjoyable in their own ways. And Matthew Goode does rather suit the leather trousers.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/02/2021 20:51

Good to hear that the large-sized DS' are all keeping in touch. LetUs - I can guarantee that any whining you had today will be surpassed by the Olympic-standard whining that I'll get tomorrow when DS finds that I've taken his x-box controllers away because he didn't finish his school work (like he promised he would).
DH is now whining that subtitles have been recorded on something he's watching with DS, and they're both whining about poor picture quality. I'm done with this shit (them), so I'm heading for the bath'n'book thing again.

Glad that Fancy has a good walk with FancyMan, and it wasn't Somme-levels of mud!

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 22/02/2021 07:29

Morning wenches. Wet here but still quite warm.

That is going to be some megawhining indeed from MiniHelen I get that too from DH re picture quality. Not sure what they expect us to do about it.

Unsurprisingly DS2 is still fast asleep seeing as half term is over.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/02/2021 09:24

Morning. High cloud here and some sun. I think we're set for this for a week according to FriendWithHorses - hurrah! The garden can start to try and recover! though on the plus side, it's not a permabog, which is what the horses field was (mostly) - they're going to be shipped off to drier/grassier climes for a six week holiday while their fields dry out/recover.

I went to bed at 10pm, DS came in at 11 and (woke me) said he'd finished his work. Shock

He hadn't actually, but I was too tired to care at that point so he had x-box this morning. I'm a rubbish parent.

He's just tried do one of his lessons "click here to watch this video"... "video coming soon." Confused Excellent work there by the school. DS has sent an email. I think he was feeling rather smug.

Still having breakfast here - the skip man turned up to collect the full skip which disrupted things a bit.

ApricotCrush · 22/02/2021 17:38

Evening. Lovely afternoon, feel spring is almost here. Smile

Nothing else to report except DH is still wrecking working in the kitchen. Hmm

Hope a good day has been had by all.

LetUsPrey · 22/02/2021 19:40

Evening wenches

Aside from the rain this morning, it’s been lovely and it was still light (more or less) when I got home! I’m going to have to think of another excuse not to go running after work Grin

March 29th Apricot for the return to golf. Just hold on until then.

You’re not a rubbish parent Helen. Not even a bit.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/02/2021 20:17

So much for nice weather. It closed in and was drizzling by afternoon. Fortunately my washing escaped, because I forgot to put it on - let alone out Grin

Have spent the day ineffectively working and gazing at my screen in boredom.

DS has still not caught up on school work

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 22/02/2021 22:59

Evening

More walking today everyone will be surprised to know! Was most outraged to see lots of others doing the same - it's usually a bit quieter on Mondays Rather damp here too helen - I also failed to put the washing on Grin

@ 10 years to do work on the kitchen, although rather glad to hear MrA was on solid ground. And not up a tree with a chainsaw

LetUsPrey · 23/02/2021 07:39

Morning wenches.

Same round here Fancy with lots more people out for a walk than usual. Rude Grin

If you think about it, that’s actually quite efficient re forgetting to do the washing .

Tuesdays of late have been a bit rubbish. With the exception of last week because it was half term, they’ve involved DS2 phoning me saying he doesn’t feel well. 🤞🏻it doesn’t happen today.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/02/2021 08:39

Morning all. High cloudy and sunny again - hope it stays that way this time (if I remember to put the washing on...) Wildlife reports - a couple of robins and blue tits when I went out to feed the chickens, one swan flying overhead (lovely noise), and a pied wagtail under the bird table just now.

Fingers crossed for DS2 LetUs. It's rubbish when something upsetting them, and even worse when they can't/won't tell you what it is Sad.

Nothing to see here, just some HBFs getting well earned rest...

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 23/02/2021 10:19

Morning, sunshine here too and the first bumble bee of the year.

Have the day off today - DD and I will be spring cleaning this afternoon when classes finish. Am currently lounging in bed with ScaredyCat she was being all cute and rolling around in my lap. Until she fell off. Grin

ApricotCrush · 23/02/2021 16:26

Afternoon. Very windy and miserable here.

Don't think DH is safe because he's on solid ground Fancy. There is electricity involved here. This is Mr. IknowWhatI'mDoing - OopsIJustGotABelt Apricot. Hmm It's not going well. The lights are too bright and he wishes he'd never started. Roll on 29th March.

Awww at ScaredyCat. Smile

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 23/02/2021 16:29

Is it Friday yet?

LetUsPrey · 23/02/2021 18:46

Evening wenches. I’ve been to work and that’s the most positive thing I can say about that. DS2 got through the day without feeling ill although we had an issue with an open window that got blown open even further by the wind and got jammed on the soffit or whatever it’s called. He did eventually get it closed but not without phone calls and texts. Sigh. Back to school in a couple of weeks though. Had an excellent, very informative letter from school. They have been very good.

Perhaps all the various wildlife could help with the washing Helen, like in Snow White.

Awww at bumblebee and ScaredyCat Smile. Hope the cleaning went well.

Few more days yet Wicked unfortunately. Have a Wine

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/02/2021 19:02

Windy here, but now as much as further west, and no wind either, so we're getting off lightly.

Hope that miniLetUs has had a better Tuesday and Fancy and FancyDD have had a fun time spring cleaning Hmm

I have pulled a muscle and I'm lurching about like Quasimodo if I sit still for too long. FFS and all that.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/02/2021 19:07

Oh - hello LetUs - see what happens when I type somethign then forget to hit post?

I've heard nothing from school.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 24/02/2021 07:10

Morning wenches.

How’s the pulled muscle Helen? Any better after sleeping?

I’ve been dreaming about work. No HBFs, lots of stress - so the same as real life.

I’m going to have to get up aren’t I? Just a few more minutes.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/02/2021 09:07

FFS - just logged on to BoringSpareRoomJob. The first email I see is someone cocking something up. So my first work-related words after a week off were, (to myself), FFS .
Great start.
FML. Sad

Pulled muscle is meh - it's spreading (or the effect is).

Last night's bonkers dream involved trying to transport 2 orphaned giraffes, a stray dog, and an old and deaf (and long dead in real life) family dog around LocalCity involving some sort of fox/goose/bag of grain style complications.

Now I need to sort out real life complications. FML etc.
