Good afternoon, Clunkers!

Welcome to the Breakfast Club where the kettle is permanently on, the drinks flow and the snacks are both self-replenishing and calorie-free.

We start each day with a look at history and a tribute to a brave or inspiring woman. Mostly though, we just chat randomly about current affairs, recipes, life in lockdown, literature, music and anything else that comes into our heads.

Veteran Clunkers welcome. Anyone else who wants to join in the chat - sense of humour essential! - welcome.

Also, we appear to be up again, and able to post this time.

It's in and out. Not sure what is going on. I have managed to get something off there I 'needed' to store for the future in case I have another 'wobble' and require a forceful reminder of why I have taken a recent decision I have.

I don't know what this thread is but talking about inspiring women it's Ada lovelace day on Tuesday. This day is about women in STEM as well as her personally. I'm currently working on a museum project to get girls and people from working class backgrounds into STEM.

The history of women, as you know, is so often buried away in dusty footnotes. Yet, they are there...

Neacy, Natty and Doris, good to see you. Just popping over to the main premises to see if things are any clearer.

I don't think hackers are responsible.

It doesn't inspire trust, people come to rely on these things for a bit of support/light relief/whatever. I have never been anywhere else where there wasn't notice of closure.

It doesn't feel 'honest' and I think the values of those that contribute bar the odd 'TOGGLE' are generally honest.

We seem to be back up on MC, hopefully it’s for good, strange things are a happening.🤯😁👽

Why doesn’t admin just start a new thread about what is happening?,so we can understand what has happened, then we could all have a say, I for one would be willing to pay a small fee to keep it going. ❤️

I am hoping that we find out soon. It was very upsetting to suddenly lose touch like that. As I said, though, let's keep this place for the moment. It's always good to have a Plan B and a second muster station.

I'm here. Was Miss C over there. Thanks to Lily for the heads up and for opening the new premises. I shall miss the other place, I liked all the functions and the more intimate feel of the place.

I had that, then they all flooded in on that new thread at once. Whether its a forums software issue, or... something else, I'm not sure. I would be willing to whitelist our normal home on the ad hider though if thats what it would take to keep it open.

Hi all,

I did want to keep it open, but I'm way bit too busy to be able to run this site and none of the mods on my other sites were interested.

I just get too many complaints and I'm never sure what is real and what is trolling. From the very start there's been huge issues with people trying to disrupt.

The number of people using it was going down so it was looking like it would die out but I was going to let it run for a few more months with one unobtrusive advert per page to hopefully stop me from spending so much of my own money running it. But the complaints and their tone over that is the final straw makes me think it's not something I really want the hassle of keeping running.

I have several adblockers running on all my tech - it isn't personal, I just don't want to be tracked/spammed.

It sounds like admin is taking it personally, I doubt much of anything is meant personally. You just need a hard hat/business head in these quarters.
