Dixie thought I'd start this since the other thread is so long it's taking ages to post a message. I can talk here or if you'd rather talk on the phone email me at [email protected] and I'll email you my number/will call you if you like. You don't have to explain, I remember the background. Must be hard, I'm separated too but it's amicable. Ds and dp are out so I've got time to talk if you want to.

RobinW, I had been on at 3.30am but went back to bed at 4.30 to try for a little more sleep. All because DS2 didn't get to the toilet in time at 2.30am and I couldn't go back to sleep. I hope you are ok.

bossykate · 06/12/2002 22:27

blimey, it's quiet tonight! dh has gone to a gig with friends and i have just spent the last 45 mins cleaning the kitchen! memo to self, must get a life!

MandyD · 06/12/2002 22:34

Ah, I cleaned the kitchen this morning. I wasn't even thinking of going to bed yet, DS is still sleeping in it for one, and I won't move him for another half hour!

bossykate · 06/12/2002 22:38

no, i don't want to go to bed yet either! don't fancy listening to music or reading before usual bedtime reading. i am a true example of bad sleep habits - need to read myself to sleep even now - a bad habit formed in childhood.

well done, mandyd, for doing it this am. i also did it this am but that was clearing up after last night - a very unusual occurrence in our house, and after this morning i remember why! yuk!

cherry · 06/12/2002 22:39

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a great time last weekend and I'm sorry I couldnt make it... also sorry my post saying i wouldn't make it isn't there! Didn't fancy much driving/getting the train from Newcastle all on my own!
Dd is 5 tomorrow so i have been having a last minute rush clean-up before the family and 12 cousins arrive tomorrow!

hi cherry, maybe what they say about london people is true, but i would have had second thoughts about going all the way to newcastle for a meet up, let alone with a horde of visitors about to descend. i would need about four weeks notice to be able to deal! hence we are saying we are busy from now until christmas, nothing exciting socially - there's no time for us between now and then to do anything other than shop/cook etc! maybe a slight exaggeration...

the party on sat was excellent, shame you couldn't make it, but as i said coming at least 200m would have been an exceptional effort!

bossykate · 06/12/2002 22:49

hi sb34, i'm feeling a bit guilty actually. if you have seen the "how do you manage your time?" thread, you would have got the impression from my bragging that our house is pristine. that thread has made me take a good look round and tho' it is basically clean and relatively organised there is a lot that will not bear close inspection! now, should i slink back to that thread and admit the truth? what i have also been wondering is if my "basically clean and relatively organised" equates to someone else's "pit", so it is really me who is the slob after all?!

bossykate · 06/12/2002 22:50

ooh ks, cold, brrrr! - i hate it! hope you get it all fixed soon!

cherry · 06/12/2002 22:58

I'd have loved to have come, if there had been anyone else travelling from up here I would have been there and made a weekend of it (plenty of offers to babysit, strangely enough), but never mind I am sure there will be one closer to home that I WILL make it to eventually! Glad you had a good night all the same! Enjoyed reading the thread post-party

Demented · 06/12/2002 23:10

Hello everyone! I'm up giving DS2 a feed, he didn't feed very well at 8pm so has now woke up , DH stripping wallpaper in the room next door to him probably didn't help, I was in the middle of ironing, I remember when Friday nights were fun, something to look forward to. My parents are coming tomorrow and the house is still a tip but on the plus side my Mum is staying to watch the kids while we go to the cinema, so I suppose life aint too bad after all!

bossykate · 06/12/2002 23:19

hello demented, yes, ironing is something i do when i don't want to clean the kitchen, which is normally dh's job! so i'm not too badly off, am i?

if anyone had ever told me say 5/6 years ago how i would be spending my weekends post baby... but then again, when you don't have children, it's really easy to empathise with all the bad things, e.g. lack of sleep, social life etc. but you just don't get (at least i didn't) all the things that make you think - it's definitely worth it in spite of everything...

hope your ds settles down well and you are not subject to further disruption

Demented · 07/12/2002 00:33

Thanks bossykate, he seems to have gone down now and I should be joining him!

Sleep well everyone!

tigermoth · 07/12/2002 09:56

were lots of mumsnet people out last night? - the message boards did look a bit empty and here it is, nearly 10.00 am and I'm the only one posting. Who's hungover then?

Mines · 07/12/2002 10:33

Uggghhh - me. By 4.30 yesterday afternoon there were about 6 people in our whole office and we all just looked at each other and decided to go to the pub and stay there

Fortunately, I had to go home at 8pm to release DH to go down pub or I would be feeling a good deal worse now!!

Anyway, things have looked a little quiet for much of this week - are people all busy doing christmassy things?

CAM · 09/12/2002 12:38

yes tigermoth i was out on Friday night at my dh's work do which was obviously full of people he knows but only one or two that i know. I was forced to get a little bit drunk in order not to be completely bored. The food was good though. Saturday night I had organised a dinner at a local hotel for some school parents who have become friends, which was much more fun. So I have had a heavy weekend and have sworn not to drink now until Christmas!! Oh, just remembered that I am going out next Friday night for the committee Chair's "Christmas Drink" and also meeting up with a longstanding friend next Wednesday for a "Christmas Drink". God, I must go to the gym every day this week to try to keep fit.

tigermoth · 09/12/2002 12:49

merry christmas, CAM!

CAM · 10/12/2002 09:00

and the same to you tigermoth!
