Dixie thought I'd start this since the other thread is so long it's taking ages to post a message. I can talk here or if you'd rather talk on the phone email me at [email protected] and I'll email you my number/will call you if you like. You don't have to explain, I remember the background. Must be hard, I'm separated too but it's amicable. Ds and dp are out so I've got time to talk if you want to.

Hi WWW. Am feeling sorry for myself and a bit glum, plus am in pain, so was just hanging around to see if anyone else was up!!!!

WideWebWitch · 14/12/2002 01:20

that must be hard, coping with kidney stones. Also the lack of light, aren't you in the o hebrides?

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 14/12/2002 01:23

susanmt, you still there and want to talk?

Thats me. It has been great the last few days, really crispy and clear, but the early nigt does bother me. the stones are a 'mare! I have to take serious painkillers, and as I have been on the wine tonight they are making me a bit stoned without taking away the pain yet (I was drinking before the pain started, silly old me!!!!)
I go them while pg with ds, they are a rare-ish side effect of pregnancy, and although I am not making tham any more, I am still getting rid of the ones stored in there!

WideWebWitch · 14/12/2002 01:30

so they will be gone eventually? That's good-ish. Thought of you tonight as I struggled to drink a pint of water, remember you have to drink 8 pints a day.

sorry if I sound like your stalker, I'm not honest! I just remember things about people from various threads. loved your description of your children's wonderment at the beauty of where you live.

OP posts:
susanmt · 14/12/2002 01:33

Yep - I'm not making them any more now, which is a releif!! I have a little store of them in my left kidney which has to come out. If you don't get rid of them they can cause infections - I am on long term low dose antibiotics to stop that. So just got to wait for them to go. I am really lucky actually. Most people end up in hospital with the stones. But as dh is a doc he is allowed to give me the pethedine at home, so I can stay home and nto be hospitalised all the time.

susanmt · 14/12/2002 01:35

I am like that too, remembering all about people. I have loved you talking about bringing up a child pretty much in two worlds - something really alien to where we are as there are so few ethnic minorities and no mixed race children at all. Your life sounds so interesting!

WideWebWitch · 14/12/2002 01:36

so shall we try to think of wonderful positive things?! started to watch the news earlier but smallpox jabs stuff depressed me so escaped to Jonathon Ross who is funny and fanciable

OP posts:
susanmt · 14/12/2002 01:39

yep - we ended up on Have I Got News For You cos it was more positive!
Heard a thing on the radio this morning saying that is we vaccinated everyone for smallpox we would end up killing more people through weird reactions to the vaccine than we would save from smallpox, so that put me off a bit!

WideWebWitch · 14/12/2002 01:39

yeah, susan when I see someone's name I think: OK, agree with her politically most of time; she has xyz issue with her dh, 500 kids, thinks xyz about education, lives in Timbuctu + various other weird little bits that you tend to remember about people. Hasten to add the aforementioned mumsnetter is made up!

saw a bit of HIGNFY - liked whatshisname liberal, Charles Kennedy, that's it, more than I thought I would. Quite liked Will Self too, although only saw a bit of it.

OP posts:
susanmt · 14/12/2002 01:43

OOOOOOOhhhh Will Self! Could quite got for him! Even looks a bit like dh (in that kind of dark, brooding way!!)

WideWebWitch · 14/12/2002 01:44

thanks susan, re my life. Sometimes I think it's interesting, other times I just think it's too hectic and something's got to give. Can't wait for break from work at end of next week and some spare TIME!

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 14/12/2002 01:45

Also Bryan Ferry was on Jonathan Ross looking very attractive, he must be 50 something surely? OK, let's do shallow and list attractive men!

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 14/12/2002 01:46

ooooooh to your dh - looks like will self (people will be puking at this in the morning!) AND he's a doctor, how wonderful! He sounds supportive and kind from what you've said before.

OP posts:
susanmt · 14/12/2002 01:46

One of the best things about Mumsnet is all the different lives. I have learned so much about so many things just reading threads about how people live. I think that it has made me more confident, knowing there are people out there who agree with me (I tend to timidity, though don't show it much!)

susanmt · 14/12/2002 01:49

OK, I have a real thing for Pierce Brosnan!!!
Even sounds a bit like my dh, as well as being black haired and brooding!!!
Dh is from Belfast but has German Dad therfore sounds more 'southern'
OOOOOOOOOHhh

WideWebWitch · 14/12/2002 01:50

I don't know susanmt, you took on your hv re GF didn't you? If it was you I'm thinking of, good on you. Was it?

OP posts:
susanmt · 14/12/2002 01:50

I should get a grip, I know!!!

WideWebWitch · 14/12/2002 01:51

Definitely Pierce Brosnan. Going to see the new Bond next weekend to drool mainly. Also Colin Firth, Hugh Grant (only from B Jones' Diary on)

OP posts:
susanmt · 14/12/2002 01:52

Yep, that was me! I was just SOOOOOOO mad about that. Ususally I wouldn';t be anything like as outspoken, but I have a real bad switch inside when it comes to GF so I was mad enough (with DH backing me up) to do something about it!

susanmt · 14/12/2002 01:53

Yes - Hugh Grant was brilliant as a 'bad' bloke in Bridget Jones. Apart form the prostitute thing he came accross as too goody goody before then!
