Dixie thought I'd start this since the other thread is so long it's taking ages to post a message. I can talk here or if you'd rather talk on the phone email me at [email protected] and I'll email you my number/will call you if you like. You don't have to explain, I remember the background. Must be hard, I'm separated too but it's amicable. Ds and dp are out so I've got time to talk if you want to.

OOOPs

WideWebWitch · 14/12/2002 01:54

hey, especially impressive to do something about it if you live in a small place, which you do. I do too (other end of the country tho) and you have to be sooo careful what you say, the gossip is incredible.

It was quite a difficult thing to do. As we are in a remote rural area, HV's are apportioned by area, not GP practice. FOr most people, Area = GP practice but we have a differnt practice as we live in DH's catchment area and I'm not being HIS patient (unethical!!). But the HV I complained about was the HV who was based in his practice. She actually resigned part way through the complaints procedure, but it was a bit of a nighmare coping with it all!

WideWebWitch · 14/12/2002 01:59

well I'd better go to bed. even though I let ds have a late night (9.30) as no school tomorrow, suspect he'll wake us at 8.30 - we might get 9am if we're lucky. Hope your painkillers are kicking in. Nice to talk to you!

jasper · 24/12/2002 23:13

susanmt I'm still here - can't quite work out the time of your postings. Are you still there?

Demented · 24/12/2002 23:20

Jasper, I think susanmt was posting throughout last night, although I have had a couple of glasses of wine so could bne wrong! hic!!!

jasper · 24/12/2002 23:23

So have I demented which possibly accounts for my extreme stupidity in being unable to tell the time...It all makes perfect sense now.
Has Santa laid out the presents in your house yet?

Demented · 24/12/2002 23:27

No presents Jasper, but there had better be another bottle of wine on the way! No sherry in this house for any reindeer! Oh, not it's not them that drink the sherry is it!!!

bossykate · 21/03/2003 23:13

hello everyone

dh away this evening, all chores done, nothing on tv... nothing to keep me from my sad addiction to mumsnet...

have had a number of toddler related issues i thought i might ask about, but have now forgotten them!

anyone else around?

lorne · 21/03/2003 23:19

Hi bossykate,

How are you doing? Yes I am still on line. I came on the computer about 1.5 hours ago just to check if I had any emails!! Love mumsnet so I have been looking at this site and another of my favourites.I must have a sad life!!

Cheers

Lindy · 21/03/2003 23:19

hello, yes, I'm up late - was trying to compose a follow on message to your's on the circumsion (sp?) thread but it was so difficult to write it clearly that I must admit I gave up! My views are very similar to your's and I was going to make the point about my DS having to go through a major op (GA etc) for 'cosmetic reasons' - which DH & felt were serious enough to warrant the op. Anyway, running out of steam now!

Some of the discussions seem to be getting a bit out of hand at the moment - perhaps we are all getting a bit over familiar, must put newcomers off.

Change of subject - what are you reading at the moment - I've finally picked up 'The Blind Assasin' from an Oxfam shop and am looking forward to starting it.

Demented · 21/03/2003 23:22

Hi, I'm here too (again!). I should be going to bed though as we have vistors for dinner tomorrow and so much to do!

Bossykate know what you mean about have questions and then not remembering what they were to post them. Sometimes during the day I think, I'll ask someone on Mumsnet about this, I compose the post in my head, then when I log on I can't remember!

Anyway night, night everyone!

morocco · 21/03/2003 23:27

hello bossykate
you're not the only one still up if that makes you feel better - I'm searching the guardian pages but having a bit of light relief on the mumsnet page. Able to stay up late as have week off work - lovely - altho reason for week off sad - war in Iraq. Not that we are involved or anything.
where is your dh?

Lindy · 21/03/2003 23:30

I'm off to bed - DH out for a boozy 'lad's curry night', due home shortly so I must at least be able to pretend to be asleep when he arrives home!

Good night all.

Ghosty · 21/03/2003 23:45

Ooh ... I'm here too but it isn't late for me - it is midday nearly.
I am currently waiting for some visitors (Two lovely dutch girls who are travelling around NZ - one of them is the daughter of an old family friend) so I might have to log off when they arrive.
I was a little upset about the postings on the circumcision thread ... so I have stopped taking part in it. It was the first time that I have actually been involved in an argument with anyone on mumsnet and I was surprised at how it upset me. I don't like arguing at the best of times ... am a very unconfrontational person. I won't be getting into fights with strangers again I can tell you
We have finally finished DS' bedroom and last night he slept in it for the first time ... we are very pround of ourselves as it was our first attempt at trying to be really creative on the decorating front ... I'm usually a bit of a fan of 'magnolia'!!!
Any way ... if anyone is still up feel free to chat for a bit longer !!!

bossykate · 21/03/2003 23:47

hello lorne, lindy, demented, morocco

sad to say i have been lurking almost all evening, with periodic breaks to watch the news, eat, listen to music etc (ooh, listen to music, maybe there is still hope for me!)

blind assassin - took me ages to get into this but it was worth the effort.

lindy - sorry you are off, i think we need more, um, moderating messages on the circumcision thread!

morocco, as i said there, i hope you have gleaned some useful information from what has been posted.

as far as forgetting things i wanted to post here, maybe it is just as well, as i sometimes think if i posted everything that bothered me there would not be room for anyone else!

where is my dh? he is off at "boys'" weekend in belfast. i can't complain, as i had a wonderful weekend away last weekend with a really good friend of mine at a posh hotel near stratford upon avon. had a great time - just over too soon!

demented, lorne - just out of curiousity, where are you based? (lindy, morocco - know where you are! strangely enough, both suffolk and morocco are on my priority visit list!)

am grateful for your replies!

Angiel · 21/03/2003 23:49

I'm still up. I don't post on mumsnet that often but I do come and have a sneaky peek pretty regularly. It is a shame there has been so much arguing recently, it does make posting seem like a much bigger deal than it really is. How did you decorate the bedroom then Ghosty?
