yes, giro giro tondo. That's exactly where I'd buy a house if I won the Lottery...
Will go and check out all these schools. My mum chatted to an acquaitance (sp?) yesterday who told her that the scuola materna and scuola elementare della nostra zona are very good... boh!!@!

Ciao, e' una bellissima giornata qui a Londra, anche se autunnale.

hotmed · 18/09/2007 10:10

Can I ask some advice about what to buy for a 4 year old boy? It seems so easy to buy for girls, but don't know about boys.

francagoestohollywood · 18/09/2007 10:13

What is he into?
Sylvanian families appear to be quite fashionable on MN.
Usborne also has very good "factual" lift the flaps books: castle and knights, pirates etc. ds likes them.
Lego (or Duplo), ma i pezzi misti, non quelli dove devi fare una cosa specifica.
power rangers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Med - I bought my 4yo nephew a load of Cars related things for school - pencil case, pencils, rubber, safety scissors etc. as well as a pair of jeans but he wasn't really interested in that part. It helps if said 4yo has a craze, with dn it was and luckily still is Cars, before that it was Bobo the Builder etc.

Franca - It's a nightmare for parking, though, especially since they closed off the Darsena for that building project that seems to have stalled. I lived in a condominio Vecchia Milano (read falling to bits) and all the flats were tiny. I don't miss the apartment but I do miss the area loads. I was out on Navigli last night with a client and all I could do was sigh with nostalgia....

Brangelina · 18/09/2007 10:21

Or even Bob the Builder.

hotmed · 18/09/2007 10:23

he has some of these. will i find pieces of lego all over the house? will he actually build anything with it?

Brangelina · 18/09/2007 10:25

Lego is horrible, you will always end up stepping on it in bare feet and it is painful!

Rosa · 18/09/2007 13:28

Here I am .... I have called a couple of Nidi and waiting for the secretary to call me back . I dont think I am hippy enough for Steiner I am more a routine and structured person. at a communista on this thread !!!!!!!!!!!!
Bossi was here on Sunday and Vce was full of the Lega Nord.
Ellbell dont leave it to late to book your hotel it will be getting mega busy !!

francagoestohollywood · 18/09/2007 13:32

Mine both play a lot with Lego. Make sure you buy also a "piattaforma" where he can build on. Lego and Duplo are a big hit with the dc.
We gave ds a knight's castle for his 4th birthday, as at that time he was obsessed. He still plays a lot with the knights, the castle and the puffi, which used to belong to my brother.
Brange, I know the parking is impossible. I think it's wortwile sell the car and go for car sharing. the garage is actually in via ariberto. I know about the nostalgia, everytime I walk pass my flat in via correnti I feel a bit teary... I think we should meet for a drink in quartiere... . or cappuccino da cucchi.

Ciao a tutte! Am at work and rushing about madly, but wanted to post so that the new thread appears in 'threads I'm on'. A presto!

Brangelina · 18/09/2007 20:17

Grrr

I just wanted to rant about Poste Italiane this evening as only you guys will understand.

I had to post an some docs and put them in a used A4 envelope which I resealed, relabelled etc. I took it to the post office after picking up DD and went up to the counter to get it weighed and get it stamped. The awful bag behind the counter complained that the envelope was used so could not be sent and demanded that I buy a new envelope from the shop, redo everything and queue up again. I said no because I had a tired child and the queue was very long, plus everything was stamped with the company details etc. so not possible.
Anyway after much insistence on my part she agreed to sell me stamps, at a higher value nonetheless, but only if I posted the envelope in the box in the street as she might lose her job or something melodramatic (like you can get fired from the poste! especially if incompetente). Out I go to post said envelope only to find that it won't go through the opening so I have to squeeze and struggle to get it in. I didn't bother going back as by now DD was fractious, but now I'm worried that my envelope is stuck in the post box and the postman won't notice it when he goes to empty it.

On top of that I found someone had let the tyres down on my bicycle so we had to walk home. There was a group of mocciosi orribili playing outside but I can't be sure it was them so couldn't punch anyone to make me feel better.

francagoestohollywood · 18/09/2007 20:54

che razza di stronza!
