already p/t hothell. I will only have to work till end of jan so with trips to italy and xmas it's not too bad. don't want to leave job now as i'd loose the mat leave pay which is a lot and i think I deserve, otherwise i'd have left and look for smthing else, which I will do after dc2 comes along.

still it is the working of the family that needs to be organised better.

BTW DD is coming home early, as she's not well. childminder says it'll be okay to take her tomorrow if no temp. please please pray pray with me friends...

Rosa · 05/11/2007 15:23

oh Pippi not another bug ??' Hope its all ok just what you dont need with you week of total relax .
Well after Venezia being invaded this w/e it was worse than carnival its nice and quiet but grey and dull and looks like pioggia. Asked nonna what she would like for Xmas she said niente if I want something I buy it and christmas is for children not x i grandi.. 'Con quel tono '... I just looked at dh and said now you know why I like Xmas in the Uk.
Ellbell all the best ...

PippiCalzelunghe · 05/11/2007 15:27

my SIL is like that!! 'we don't do presents for adults!!' proprio con quel tono. oh well WE do indeed.
when do i grandi stop to be kid and enjoy presents? I love presents and xmas and no way I want to be a boring adult. viva le petit prince!!!

hotHELL · 05/11/2007 16:47

Sorry, forgot you were part-time! Well, basically squeeze as much as money out of your employer as possible, I remember doing the same!
Going to make biscuits with ds, as a good mum should.

Rosa · 05/11/2007 20:14

Phew glad I am not the only one .When told sil she said well mamma is right ( non avevo dubbio), I did not even bother to try to argue. Even as an adult with no little ones I remember some lovely Christmas times with family not just present giving ( and getting !!) but lots of warmth and fun .
How is your dd doing ???
Oh and Hell is right get as much money from your employers as you can - Especially if they are a big company who would squeeze the blood out of you if they could !!

PippiCalzelunghe · 05/11/2007 20:23

see my employer has always been good to me. it is a big company but really cannot complain and my managers have been absolutely brilliant and I don't like to let the other people in the team down. I swear if it was a different employer I'd have no qualms.

SIL won't even invite us for a bacon sandwich...

francagoestohollywood · 05/11/2007 20:30

I know "quel tono li'. It's typical of my mum and mia zia. "Facci solo un pensierino, non spendere troppi soldi". How boring. I should be the one to decide how much money I can spend on their presents in the first place...

OP posts:
Rosa · 05/11/2007 20:31

Thats what my employer was like then they got taken over and they 'forgot' about so many rules and regulatons as we were overseas . Good to hear that there are some 'decent' workplaces left !!

PippiCalzelunghe · 05/11/2007 20:32

I wonder if we'll say the same to our kids... I worry I will as I can see myself having told DH many times. Everytime he tries to buy me smmthng I refuse. I am a cow!

francagoestohollywood · 05/11/2007 20:36

I'm even more perversa with dh... I drop hints as to what i want, hints that are impossible to get, unless you are Vogue's fashion editor and then say, no, non voglio niente. Last christmas we had a great idea and got ourself a much coveted lamp.

OP posts:
Rosa · 05/11/2007 20:38

Oh it drives me mad but when they open my presents they seem to either be very good actors or they really appreciate them. I love home made things by nipotine and cant wait for dds efforts. My dh needs spinte and big hints but he is getting better !!!!

Rosa · 05/11/2007 20:38

If I say non voglio niente I get niente.....

francagoestohollywood · 05/11/2007 20:46

I bet they appreciate rosa .
speaking of christmas, n ow mi e' venuta l'angoscia da regalo...

francagoestohollywood · 05/11/2007 21:04

goodnight, I'm going to watch some telly.

OP posts:
PippiCalzelunghe · 06/11/2007 07:28

morning. told dh we'll go out at the week-end and have a big chat. all I want is to establish some ground rule, I am past the stage to pretend he understand what it feels to be pg or be with the DC all day without a break without having tried it.

DD is well, apart for sore throat and cold so she'll go to childminder. I'll watch my movies and go have my eyebrown waxed! ahhh the height of luxury.

thought of going shopping on sat before meeting you but sat in oxford street is pure suicide before xmas.

francagoestohollywood · 06/11/2007 09:32

brava pippi!

I know. I just read it this morning. So so .

francagoestohollywood · 06/11/2007 10:43

I'm doing the ironing....

OP posts:
PippiCalzelunghe · 06/11/2007 10:50

I have been doing loads this morning (except for ironing! ).
house is tidy, kitchen cleaned and dishwasher unloaded, washing done. loads of paperwork done too.
ah, must call nurseries to book visit.
after that I'll go and get some mince and cook sugo ragu per lasagne.
after that I am free for the day. nice!!!!

I start liking being a SAHM, as long as I am A L O N E!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what's going on with the house? any offers?

francagoestohollywood · 06/11/2007 10:56

have had lots of viewings, no offers yet . ffs.
we need to move around the 20th of december... I'm worried, don't want to think about it!

OP posts:
PippiCalzelunghe · 06/11/2007 11:13

what about renting it out? is it a viable option? why? I imagine it being very nice and cosy and full of books and nice stuff. Am I right?

I've called two nurseries for DD for next sept, and one has no apt for viewings till january, can you believe it? the other one the only avail apt is on a day I work. I really think I should stop working.

francagoestohollywood · 06/11/2007 11:22

you are right . It is in fact a beautiful house, don't think we'll ever have a house as beautiful as this one. we keep renting as a viable option, BUT as things go in Exeter I think we could only rent it to students, which is not a very good idea. They might ruin it and the value will decrease when we decide to sell. It needs to be sold really. We might have to lower the asking price. But not just yet.

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 06/11/2007 11:27

but next year you'll be on maternity leave, and your dd will be 3, are there any pre-schools around? obviously pre-schools don't have the same flexible hours as nursery, but it'd be ok if you won't be working. she could go every morning (you are entitle to a certain numbe of free session after three)

OP posts:
PippiCalzelunghe · 06/11/2007 11:28

can I see it? would you send me a link on my email address. want to see the kitchen with the wooden worktop and get ideas on how to furnish this one. Oh I cannot wait the works start!!
PS: don;t mean to be nosy, don't do it if you don't want to. I was trying to find a link for mine but it's long gone!
