Lockdown rolls on, so we're staying in and isolating with the FAF. Grin
The bar is stocked, the floor has been mopped, the tables have been wiped, and the HBFs are however you want them Grin

(We're also doing lots of washing and gardening.)

Morning wenches.

Jeez I’d never leave my corner of the hayloft again if they were all there.

DS2 is in the mother of all grumps so good luck with him today DH.

I’m finding the composting very interesting. DH had a compost bin quite a few years ago but it didn’t work out. He obviously needed wench guidance from Helen and Fancy.

FancyFancy · 06/05/2020 08:41

Morning.
I hope the grumps have gone by the time you get home Letus

Hmm, I'm a novice - best wait until I've managed to produce some compost before listening to me Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/05/2020 08:59

Ha - my composting method is usually 'lob it in the corner and dig out the nettles a couple of times a year' or once 'did up the turf and put it in a shady corner in the compost bin, then it will be loam for next year. And of course "Don't put the bloody couch grass in there, or the nettles! Burn them!"

We stayed up far too late watching a programme about the horrific bush fire in Paradise... am stupid.

Afternoon.

Feeling blah, stuff to do but no motivation. Mostly reading fanfic and watching telly.

ApricotCrush · 06/05/2020 16:44

Afternoon. Beautiful day here, lots of washing done.

Ooooh, I'd forgotten about Bob Ross LetUs, I remember him. I love watching people paint, it's so relaxing. Must look out for that.

Now you're just showing off with all your birdlife Helen. Grin I'll get some TCP if the salt rinses don't work.

Fascinating Fancy, hope it's going well today.

ApricotCrush · 06/05/2020 16:46

Oh WW, you weren't there when I posted. Confused I've got no motivation either, but it doesn't really matter.

LetUsPrey · 06/05/2020 19:21

Evening wenches.

DS2 perked up thankfully —eventually—

Loving all the composting talk! No idea why it’s so interesting but it is.

He’s on at 7pm on BBC4 Apricot. I’m watching it as I type.

I’ve been a bit lax with the washing this week. I’ll see if I can get organised enough to get one ready to finish in the morning and I can put it out before I leave.

Huuuuuuge Wicked. It’s a weird weird time. There’s so much I could/should have done when I was off, but I refuse to feel guilty about it like I normally would. I did lots of jigsaws, I got to lie in the sun, I sat on the settee and did not much. It’s all good.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 06/05/2020 21:03

Thanks wenches. I might also be a bit hormonal. Did some cleaning so that made me feel better, at least I've done something useful today. Rewatched Poirot, Evil Under The Sun, so good.

FancyFancy · 06/05/2020 21:30

ww it is all very trying - some days fine & other days the monotony & lack of face to face contact really gets to you.

Fabulous moon tonight & although the bird life in my garden is not as exotic as helen's I am enjoying the view of my bird table while I work.

Composting update : I added a top up this morning as the temperature was down to just over 20 degrees, I also starting using the internal thermometer. Now the readings are ~40 degrees on the lid thermometer & 60 degrees on the internal one.

LetUsPrey · 06/05/2020 22:07

Can’t go wrong with a bit of Poirot

And the compost then goes into your garden to help the soil and plants - have I got that right? The most thought I ever give to anything in the garden is which lounger to sit on and what side to put my drink on.

Just about to watch Sewing Bee.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/05/2020 22:10

Evening. Had a bonkers day at work with lots of little annoying bits of jobs and then a spreadsheet disaster at 4pm. Wonderful. Worked until 6pm and then did a bit more just before tea. I can see me doing more again tomorrow instead of freelancing.

and for Wicked - getting something done is always a good plan for making you feel a bit better when you're feeling 'meh'

Glad to hear that miniLetUs wasn't in a grouch all day. And hurrah for jigsaws. We've watched some Sewing Bee tonight - loved the 'bunch of grapes' Grin

Oh - missed the last two posts. Hurrah for thermodynamic compost Grin

I know, re. the birdlife - the peacock was really a bit of a WTAF moment, even knowing that we have one roaming about round here. Just the way it stalked across the road like it owned it. Grin Put the pheasants to shame.

DH has been pointing at the moon tonight as well.

I’m on the middle Sewing Bee challenge. I’m really hungry now. You’re right about the grapes Helen Grin

LetUsPrey · 06/05/2020 22:46

Athos said he’d like to see you doing him tonight Helen and he’ll do you

Morning wenches.

There was a heck of a sudden, brief breeze last night as if something or someone was moving really quickly.

It’s a day of the week. I think it’s Thursday. Lovely and sunny. I’m feeling even less motivated than usual today which bodes well for anyone who sends me anything urgent to do.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/05/2020 09:15

It is a lovely sunny Thursday morning - you're right LetUs
can't imagine what that sudden breeze was last night though Grin

Lots of emails to wade through, and BoringSpareRoomJob needs a couple more hours spent on it really. Sad So i'd better crack on and not muck about online...

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 07/05/2020 09:42

Morning
Gloriously sunny here - does make me think I need to clean the windows though!
Thank god it's kind of Friday, I have just about enough motivation for one more day of work this week.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 07/05/2020 14:19

Feel more motivated today, to move my arse, after stepping on the scale Confused

ApricotCrush · 07/05/2020 15:27

Afternoon.

I've recorded Bob Ross, thanks LetUs. I saw the Sewing Bee too, but they cheated by doing the smocking on the machine. I used to make smocked dresses for DD but I did the smocking by hand and it was deeper and more elasticky and obviously took a lot longer to do. I've still got them all. Smile

Remember I bought some new bathroom taps? Well DH decided to fit them, but couldn't turn the water off in the airing cupboard. We had WD40 and levers on it with both of us pulling on them, but it wouldn't budge. I had visions of one of us flying across the landing. He ended up having to cut the pipe, run the gauntlet at Toolstation and get a new valve. Bloody nightmare. He's still in the middle of it.

Consequently, by the time I got out into the garden it had clouded over. Sad

Is anyone doing anything for VE Day? I can't get up any enthusiasm about it. Hmm

ApricotCrush · 07/05/2020 15:28

Oh, WW, you keep appearing out of nowhere. Well done, glad you feel a bit better.

LetUsPrey · 07/05/2020 19:10

Evening wenches. Swapped my early finish to today and considering it was a short day, it was a fucking struggle. Spent most of the morning trying to do something that ordinarily would have been quite simple but the person who’d given the instructions had got loads of stuff wrong —and didn’t know what the fuck they were talking about— and every time I emailed to query something, I got a stupid fucking wishy washy response. It was so frustrating at one point I felt like hiding in the toilets and having a cry.

Are your windows sparkly now Fancy or is that a job for tomorrow?

I’m staying off my scales Wicked. Pleased you’re feeling a bit more motivated.

I bet your smocking was lovely Apricot. As soon as you hear a contestant on this or on Bake Off say “oh I’ve made loads of these”, you know it’s not going to go well. Are the taps fitted now?

I’m not planning anything for tomorrow. DH is going into work and DS2 will have some schoolwork to do. There’s a Lockdown Street Party but that’s not really my scene, although I expect I’ll have to show my face at one point.

ApricotCrush · 07/05/2020 20:19

Oh dear LetUs that does sound annoying. Have some Wine

No, the taps are nowhere near fitted, he's found other jobs along the way that need doing, so I suppose we'll be in a mess for a few days. Confused

Some of the houses in the road have flags up, I'll see how it goes. Hmm

Swagger Inn thread 165 - wenches get --locked-- down with the HBFs (ylt)
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/05/2020 20:21

Oh Apricot - nightmare! DH hates plumbing with a vengeance and we get someone in unless it's the easiest of jobs. Hope it's fixed now. Also LOL at the smocking outrage.

Wicked - what did you get done today then?

Gin for LetUs - work sounds crap. I ended up doing the other job today as well as the freelance one, so at least I cleared the decks a bit.

We have no plans for tomorrow. There's various buntings up locally (FB local groups are full of it) but as usual we're doing nothing, because who would see/care?
