Or if not mist, then atmospheric lighting... Hmm

New thread offically open, complete with Wine Gin [ brew] etc. And Hayloft. Speaking of which...

I don't think I've ever seen Singing in the Rain. Confused

That's good news about the antibiotics LetUs - hopefully they do the trick. at DS1 being in a huff over his hair. As you say - obviously your fault. Hmm

I haven't seen any trailers for Killing Eve - I only knew because I saw a headline in the newspaper reviews. And then I managed to 'spoil' myself for the first episode .

It's been sunny here this afternoon, but chilly. I had a exciting shopping trip for DF and us after work, and Houdini 'helped' me put up a nest box that had fallen off a tree. That's been the extent of my exciting day.

LetUsPrey · 14/04/2020 20:33

That’s happened to me too Wicked —years ago—. Stood there in the shop like a total muppet. It’s weird how something can just temporarily fall out of your head.

Did Houdini give valuable input into the re-fixing of the nest box? Perhaps passed you her tape measure?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/04/2020 22:16

Houdini said variations of 'cluck' and scratched around at my feet.

I've had that happen too Wicked - it's well freaky isn't it?! I locked myself out of my card and had to re-set the pin. No reason, I just forgot it. The other time I forgot, I'd been ill for weeks and not even been out of the house, and then I just had absolutely no idea what my pin was. Presume you got yours sorted anyway?

LetUsPrey · 14/04/2020 22:31

That sounds quite helpful for a hen

I should really head to the hayloft

FancyFancy · 14/04/2020 23:42

Houdini does sound like a fabulous hen - nothing like a bit of company in the garden.

I can't believe you've not seen Singin' in the Rain - what with that & MrHelen being unfamiliar with Eurovision it would appear that camp is not big in the Helen household Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/04/2020 08:36

We watch the Graham Norton Show - does that count as camp? Oh well. We also don't 'do' black and white in this house, though I did manage to pin down the manshapes and make them watch Kind Hearts and Coronets with me, and even DS admitted that it was good. Last night we watched 'What We Do in the Shadows' - S1Ep1, which looked quite promising for being very silly family entertainment. We also watched Westworld which is still incomprehensibly bonkers and not remotely suitable for family watching. It also has a soundtrack of DH asking "Who's he?" "Who's that?" and "Where are they now?" With a side order of "If you want to talk to me then pause this please..." because I can't explain the plot to him if he's talking all over it. To be fair, last night;s interruptions were mostly DS-shaped, and us working out how we can get more cat-food-that-hardly-anyone-stocks. We think we have booked a collection from Asda doing click and collect. Just for cat food. Thinking about it, we probably could have added other stuff to the order. Hmm

Today I have the long commute to the spare room to do BoringOfficeJob
Maybe I'll put Jane Eyre on in the background while I work. Then I won't concentrate on that, or on work, and it will all be a bit of a disaster. So probably best not. And it's lovely weather outside, so I'd much rather be in the garden than wrestling with spreadsheets. I'd even more rather be wrestling with HBFs.

Morning, that is fairly basic level camp helen Grin
Well done on the black & white persuasion.

Am also contemplating my lengthy commute.....

LetUsPrey · 15/04/2020 09:03

Morning wenches.

Astoundingly, as I type, DS2 is still asleep! DH and DS1 have gone to work (staff do alternate days for social distancing but they’re a bit short at the moment and obviously DS1 is same household as DH so it doesn’t matter). It’s very quiet. Can hear a bird which - nature expert alert - sounds like a squeaky wheel.

I watched the first episode of that What We Do etc Helen. Didn’t live up to my expectations but I might give it another go. We’ve still got first ever episode of Westworld downloaded to remind us to start watching that. And thank goodness for being able to pause tv now

We were playing Articulate the other night and DS2 said “important people - they’re even more important at this time”. It was nurses. Bless him Smile

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 15/04/2020 12:32

I tried two different codes but didn't want to risk locking myself out of my card. I had some cash on me but not the full amount so I got a discount. How nice of them Smile
I did remember my code later in the day, it just popped back in my head. So weird.

ApricotCrush · 15/04/2020 17:15

Afternoon. Another lovely day here.

Ah, that's how I missed Killing Eve, will look out for it. Glad MrLetUs has antibiotics.

I've never seen Singing in the Rain either. Aaaw at Houdini.

I've done that WW. I now say the number in my head when I'm in the queue, well I did do when I used to be in a queue. I've forgotten what it's like now. I have visions of dreaming of doing a Lidl shop. Confused

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 15/04/2020 19:03

A well known TV host in Sweden has died of Corona, he was only 51 years old. Kind of makes you understand how serious this is.

LetUsPrey · 15/04/2020 19:57

That was good of them to give you the discount Wicked. Pleased you remembered your PIN later.

Agree it’s odd that when it’s a figure in the public eye that’s affected, particularly someone quite young, it strikes a note. The only way it would be “more real” if you see what I mean is if it’s someone known to you.

Meant to do the ironing today but didn’t.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/04/2020 22:49

Star for MiniLetUs and his Articulate effort. Tonight, DS has thrashed me at Connect Four Blush I kept concentrating on my attempts and missing when he had a 'three' all lined up and ready to go.

Work was horrifically boring, but I had a video call with a friend for our coffee break, so that was really nice to actually see someone other than family. But I really wasn't very productive, I don't think. Sad

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 15/04/2020 23:04

He likes his Connect Four too. Takes it super serious but thankfully doesn’t sulk if he doesn’t win.

You were probably more productive than you think Helen. I definitely wasn’t.

Watched a new thing tonight, because obviously we have nothing else to watch. DEVS on BBC2. Bit slow in parts but very good.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/04/2020 09:26

Morning all. Lovely sunny morning here - I should do garden things. Or work. Or do something about checking the traps/poison in the loft since something was tap-dancing way up there yesterday while I worked, and something is scuttling away in the walls of the sitting room.

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 16/04/2020 09:33

Morning
Nice & sunny again here, have the gardener round today - more bags of rubbish I can't get rid of!
Right, must start working.......

LetUsPrey · 16/04/2020 10:10

Morning wenches.

Beautifully sunny here. Going to have a shower and then do the ironing and get DS2 to do a bit of schoolwork. It’s good to have ambition.

Helen - I’d visit you, scuttling noises or not Grin

FancyFancy · 16/04/2020 12:08

I'd definitely visit you again helen - I can thoroughly recommend Helen's Rural Retreat as a place to stay Smile

Seem to have spent more than half the morning in video calls/prepping for video calls/sending emails. Doesn't feel like much has dropped off my to-do list, but several things have been added........

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 16/04/2020 13:21

Wicked's Swedish GetAway ain't half bad either Smile

ApricotCrush · 16/04/2020 16:36

Afternoon. Another sunny day spent mostly in the garden.

Highlight of the day was DD bringing round some wine bits and pieces I was missing from the online shop. Nice to have a chat even if it is from the end of the drive. Smile

Wicked's Swedish GetAway sounds wonderful.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 16/04/2020 17:33

Found Lindt chocolate eggs on sale Smile

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/04/2020 17:35

I had an exciting bike ride to the post office. And Houdini got herself shut in the bike shed while I was out She also came into the kitchen when I was making lunch. Hmm Making herself at home a bit too much.

Any visit to a Wench residence is a good visit Grin, being it Chateau Fancy, Chez Elk, or SisterHelen's Convent/Rural Retreat

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 16/04/2020 19:01

Spent most of the day in the garden but came in mid-afternoon because I can only take so much of next door’s bloody music and her bleating on self-importantly.

It’s nice that you got —your wine— a chance to chat Apricot, if only from a distance. Your DGS is going to get the biggest hug when this is done Smile

Mmmm at Lindt chocolate eggs.

Grin at HoudiniHen getting herself shut in somewhere.

Have a drink

Swagger Inn thread 164 --Gorillas-- HBFs in the mist - aka Where's the bloody Sun?
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/04/2020 21:14

Oooh, - Lindt eggs! I think there's a bunny here somewhere.

I'd like to add HBFs to my 'to do' list. And keep them there. I never did watch Jane Eyre - FFS. I'm going to try and get DS to watch Treasure Island though. Get him off the x-box if nothing else.

Other than HBFs, I think I fancy and bath and early night. Had grouching session with DH earlier after DS had a strop. Joy.

OP posts:
WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 16/04/2020 21:21

I read that as groping session Helen Grin
