Evening
She did wake up eventually - DS & I were both starving by the time she got back from the shops!

My day has officially been rather dull - did go for a lovely short walk though, the birdsong was amazing. Am experimenting with using grass clippings as mulch (told you my day was dull!) in the hope that it will save me from being swamped by garden waste Grin

LetUsPrey · 04/04/2020 23:22

Finding new ways to do things is interesting. And a walk, listening to the birdsong sounds wonderful.

I’m off to the hayloft to find new ways to do things with HBFs Grin

FancyFancy · 04/04/2020 23:52

I was also contemplating a hot composting bin - I could get way too interested in that Grin

LetUsPrey · 05/04/2020 09:53

Morning wenches.

See, I don’t don’t particularly like gardening but when wenches talk about, I find it interesting Grin

One wash on the line, going to do lots more as it’s beautifully sunny and going to be quite warm. Might get the lounger out.

FancyFancy · 05/04/2020 11:24

Morning - being lazy letus, I did my washing last night so it could be hung out ready for sunrise Grin

It's looking lovely out there - some time in the garden is called for I think. And maybe this evening I'll do some homework - s1 ep 2....

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/04/2020 12:44

Afternoon.

DH woke me at 5:30 (not his fault - muttering in his sleep) so I got to hear the dawn chorus - very noisy impressive. Then everyone else was still asleep when I woke at 7am, so I did the usual morning stuff, plus potted on some veg then had breakfast and went back to bed again.

Yesterday I read about about stopping the magpies robbing the chickens. It involves either killing the magpies or keeping the chickens locked in. Neither appeals so we'll carry on as we are, shutting in for half the day/until we have most of the eggs we're expecting, then letting them loose to rampage in their run. Apart from Houdini of course - she will rampage wherever she pleases. Grin

It's a lovely day out there - sunny and warm, but a little bit breezy. DH is working. Again. FFS and all that. He did that most of yesterday afternoon as well. Somethign about servers being down and backlogs and things being stuck. Confused Hmm

Grass mulch works quite well, but can result in you getting a nice crop of grass. Probably not at this time of year though - there won't be any seed heads in the grass yet.

Our internet is up and down like a yo-yo at the moment. the manshapes are getting very grump.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Afternoon.

Oh I know what a Harry Potter scarf looks like LetUs despite not having seen any of the films. DGS went as him to the last World Book Day.

The weather's disappointing here. A lot of high cloud and a cool breeze. Anyway we're going to have a family BBQ - from three houses, with a three-way video link. No-one has any idea how to do it, but I'm sure we'll sort it out. Should be chaos fun. I found some beefburgers at the bottom of the freezer. The date on them is 7th July, but I'm not sure what year... Shock

LetUsPrey · 05/04/2020 17:47

Who do I speak to about the weather please? I —saw on the forecast— was promised sunshine and 19°. Instead I have cloud and not 19°. Unacceptable.

Grin at rampaging Houdini chicken. I picture her in a cloak. Hope your internet’s behaving Helen.

The family virtual BBQ sounds a lovely idea Apricot! Hope it goes off without a hitch and the burgers are safe to eat.

Haven’t done much today except for washing, which reminds me I need to make our bed. Perhaps I could some HBFs to assist. Might get me out of this blah mood.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/04/2020 17:56

at the weather for Apricot and LetUs We appear to have all the sunshine here then, unless Fancy has some? Have been in the garden all day, Houdini has been getting underfoot helping and I am pooped now.

Your video-BBQ sounds fab Apricot Grin

LetUs - I hope the HBFs helped make the bed

Also - TB in radio play at www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000h295

LetUsPrey · 05/04/2020 22:56

Hope the video-BBQ was a success.

Houdini needs a full range of outfits.

I’ve downloaded the TB radio play - thanks.

No HBFs helped with making the bed. Perhaps they’re saving their energy for later.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/04/2020 08:07

Morning. Pfft at HBFs being useless at household chores. Hope they made up for it later...

I went to bed early with a cracking headache. Fingers crossed it's gone now and not just lurking in the background.

Was lovely and sunny when I got up to feed everything (inconvenient cat decided to saunter into the chicken coop and investigate their run (and the rate holes) while I was feeding them - was tempted to leave him in there but didn't want to subject him to psychotic cockerel) But now it has clouded over and even rained a tiny bit. Won't bother putting washing on, I don't think.

Fingers crossed the internet will behave itself today or I shall be on a self-imposed furlough... (preparing the potato patch).

LetUsPrey · 06/04/2020 10:15

Morning wenches.

The were no HBFs in my freshly made bed. Outrageous.

Sunny/cloudy here and still quite breezy. I shall be doing battle with the duvet cover when it’s washed to get it on the line in the right place so it doesn’t end up getting caught on the shed —again—

Today I shall be setting a loose timetable for myself and for DS2. Honest.

Hope the headache has bogged off Helen.

LetUsPrey · 06/04/2020 11:05

Oh FFS it’s gone quite dark and is now weeing it down

FancyFancy · 06/04/2020 11:23

Morning
Sorry, it seems I hogged all the sunshine yesterday - it was roasting here.

Good point about the seeds helen - I should be ok with that for a bit, needed to do something with at least some of the garden waste though as it is rapidly taking over!

My 'put some washing out late night ready for the morning' strategy wasn't so successful this time - it rained in the night

Have fun with the barbecue apricot

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/04/2020 15:33

No more rain here, and it's actually quite warm outside - so I have been sitting on the sofa reading. Now I need to work again. Whoop!

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 06/04/2020 16:03

Lovely here now too. There’s something so nice about a duvet cover or sheet blowing on the washing line.

I’ve ironed, got DS2 to do some science and some reading, and am now watching Midsomer Murders.

ApricotCrush · 06/04/2020 17:21

Afternoon. Weather all over the place here, sun, cloud, wind, rain...

The BBQ was a success, DD managed to sort it out and we all put our phones on the tables and it was great. If we can't be together it was the next best thing. We took some screenshots so we have a record of it. Smile

I keep getting headaches too Helen. I think it's the change of season thing I get every spring and autumn.

Have a good evening all.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 06/04/2020 20:02

Evening.

Only working 40% at the moment, we have so little work because of the Corona virus. We get 90% of the salary but it's based on the "basic salary" (?) and not on what wr actually make so I'm losing hundreds of pounds. But glad I still have a job, so many people losing their jobs and businesses going bankrupt at the moment.

Ordered some summer clothes the other day to cheer me up, nothing much, just two tops and a pair of trousers, trying to keep my spending to a minimum. But I still need the essentials, like wine, chocolate and coffee Smile

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/04/2020 21:02

Evening all.

Yes wicked, agreed re. job situation. I hope you're ok... We're very lucky because our jobs are pretty much unaffected so far.

I tried to do some shopping but found out that my favourite shower stuff has been discontinued Sad

Not had a very inspiring day really, a bit 'meh' - except for my bike ride, where one of the places on the route had a hare again today, which is always lovely to see Smile

We're currently watching that last 'Spy in the Wild' and the 'Spy Elephant Seal' got a puncture Grin

LetUsPrey · 06/04/2020 21:19

Evening wenches.

The family screen barbecue sounds lovely Apricot Smile BestFriend and I are having drinks on a virtual evening together later this week.

Exactly right re the job Wicked. And yes, you have the essentials spot on! I keep browsing clothes as I’m working on the assumption LittleSis’s wedding will still be happening later in the year.

Big poop re your shower stuff being discontinued Helen. Grin at Spy Elephant Seal with a puncture.

Not really done much this afternoon and evening. Trying to follow what Miranda said on her Desert Island Discs “relax within a structure”.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/04/2020 23:30

Hot tub?

Evening
Had a relaxing day mostly - more gardening, laundry and walking. Also did a big supermarket shop - even got dried pasta Shock still no disinfectant, but much more meat this time. Feel like I don't need to leave the house for aaaaages now.

Homework complete - series 1 episode 2. A lot of very fine Aramis.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/04/2020 08:12

OMG - pasta?!

And well done on your homework Fancy - a very concise summary there, getting to the heart of the matter with no mucking about.

Also, I heard a cuckoo this morning! Hurrah!!!

Plans for today - check emails , work as necessary, go shopping, prepare the potato patch (still).

Morning wenches.

Lovely and sunny here.

Grin at wench version of relaxing within a structure. Have decided preparing the potato patch is

DH got a big bag of pasta at the weekend. His little face was a picture of happiness when he showed me. You’d have thought they’d announced live football was back on.

Just me and DS2 today so I’ll be making sure he does a bit of maths and some reading and then he can spend most of the day in the garden/plugged in to whatever. Must remember to feed him occasionally.
