New thread offically open, complete with Wine Gin [ brew] etc. And Hayloft. Speaking of which...

Coincidence! We’re going to watch that as soon as DS2 goes up to bed.

LetUsPrey · 27/03/2020 07:54

Morning wenches.

Didn’t end up watching anything last night.

Sunny here this morning but there’s frost on the cars.

it’s still locked from last night. I’ll have to use one of the others.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/03/2020 09:09

Morning lovelies. Same weather as LetUs. The Mel and Sue thing was mildly entertaining. Batha was lovey and hot and interrupted by small shout person wanting stuff But still, it was a nice hot bath.

And now I need to work...

Morning.
It's feeling a bit Groundhog Day isn't it?

Managed to dig out one stump yesterday, so will start on the other one today. At this rate my garden will look lovely. But I won't be able to see it for the bags of piled up garden waste that I can't dispose of Grin

Also need to do some grocery shopping soon, with three of us home all day every day, we're getting through bread much quicker.

DS did cook dinner last night & very tasty it was too.

ApricotCrush · 27/03/2020 18:00

Evening.

Oh Helen, that does sound hilarious annoying.

Aww, thank you LetUs. It is more or less exclusive to Sainsbury's although I believe Majestic also stock it. Lovely son-in-law has checked for me, but alas they don't have any either. Never mind, I'll have to try something else when I run out.

About three-quarters of my online shop arrived and was taken to the laundry decontamination zone. There, as with letters, parcels, etc. it was either Dettol-wiped, steamed or left on a designated table for 3 days depending on what it is.

We did the Clap for Carers too. Not many of our neighbours came out, they probably wondered what was going on, but the noise from the village up the rooad was amazing. It scared the life out of MaxTheCat who went whizzing though our garden at high speed.

How lovely of your DS to cook for you Fancy.

LetUsPrey · 27/03/2020 20:18

Evening wenches.

Crikey I’m knackered. What happened to a Friday night when I’d be raring to go out, full of energy? I feel like I could be in bed and asleep by 10 tonight.

That’s a shame re the wine Apricot. But hopefully you’ll have fun trying to find something new! And poor little MaxTheCat though.

I thought about clearing some stuff out of the loft Fancy at the weekends but then realised I wouldn’t be able to take any of it to a charity shop or tip. So sadly I won’t be able to do any clearing out. Shame.

Helen it might be time to come inside now, it’s getting a bit chilly.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/03/2020 21:42

Afn, ts, 's wrm.

Sorry - all fine here LetUs -- I'm warm and toasty. Grin I suppose I could come back in ...

Well done on the stump removal Fancy, and hurrah for DS cooking.

Apricot - you're so organised! It's a pain about the wine though Sad

We're getting bit low on milk so I went to the shops before they shut for the night - queues to get in. Nope. Will try again tomorrow, early doors.

DH has been asking me which supermarket(s) do I think he should go to in the morning? And what time do I think he should go? Thing is, whatever I said, for instance Sainsbury’s, he’d say “hmm, but if I go to Asda, it’ll be xyz”. Whatever time I suggested, “hmm, but I could go at x time”. Every single time.

We watched the Hitmen thing. I very much enjoyed it Grin

Going to watch Picard in the morning. For now, I’m off to the chateau where Aramis can contradict me as much as he wants.

LetUsPrey · 28/03/2020 09:02

Morning wenches.

DH has messaged to say he’s in the longest queue ever at the supermarket but obviously because they’re all having to stand a distance apart.

Today I’m going to get all DS2’s schoolwork properly organised. But I need a shower first. And then I’ll watch Picard.

LetUsPrey · 28/03/2020 10:08

Forgot to say - can’t remember the details of the dream but TB was in it. He was quite keen and I probably would have done but I thought it would be disloyal to other wenches Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/03/2020 10:28

LOL LetUs - wench top marks for wench loyalty Grin If you could ask him to pop along to my subconscious next time? Hope that MrLetus had a productive shopping trip.

It was quite nice when I fed the chickens this morning. But that was at sparrow's fart, and now it's clouded over. No real plans today, need to do garden things really. And a bit of work too I think. Oh joy.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/03/2020 12:23

I can confirm that local coop was fine with no queuing, and lots of stock apart from flour. WTAF are people doing with all the flour?!

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 28/03/2020 12:51

Afternoon.
Long queues to get into both Waitrose & Sainsbury's here. Couldn't be arsed so walked to our small M&S instead. Then forgot about my list Grin. Still no dried pasta or pasta sauces - or soap, but I don't think they have much of that in anyhow. Finally managed to get some chicken - yay! - and there was plenty of fresh fruit & veg and bread. Treated ourselves to some cranberry & toasted pecan bread and hot cross buns - important to keep morale up Wink

Had fun playing a board game last night - DS is infuriating me from time to time, but he is also being really good company.

How're things over in Sweden ww?

Ought to get moving & get started on that second stump again. Hmm that sounds like a niche euphemism.....

LetUsPrey · 28/03/2020 14:15

I’ll do what I can Helen if he pops up again.

DH did some successful shopping and reports that everyone was well-behaved.

Got some washing out and then it rained. DS2 has done some schoolwork without —much— protest.

That bread sounds delicious Fancy!

Was watching Picard but it kept freezing so I’ll try again later.

Watching Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. I bloody love Alan Rickman Grin

ApricotCrush · 28/03/2020 16:59

Afternoon. It's gone cloudy and colder here.

I was reading our local free newspaper from 19th March earlier. I'm a bit behind with everything what with being consumed with getting food and stuff. Totally different world, all in a fortnight. Upcoming sporting events, restaurants advertising Mother's Day meals, building projects in the town. Unbelievable.

I'm sure MrLetUs and MrA are related. Whatever I say on any subject, he has to disagree. It's as if he's programmed to be awkward. Confused

Grin at not being disloyal to wenches in a dream.

LetUsPrey · 28/03/2020 17:59

Fecking annoying when they do that isn’t it Apricot?

Have watched the final Picard. Not nearly enough Rios but there was some Spanish and a bit of swearing. The bit near the end was quite touching.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 28/03/2020 19:38

Why are people queueing? Went to the store today and they actually had toilet paper, pasta etc. I'm mostly concerned about the economic effects of Covid-19, all businesses that's going bankrupt etc.

At my company we're all getting laid off part time, don't know any details yet. We're still getting 90% of the salary, something the government is helping with. So I'm getting an even crappier pay then I already have. And who knows, I might loose my job altogether, everything feels so unsure. Bloody Corona virus.

LetUsPrey · 28/03/2020 20:47

They’re only letting a certain number of people into the shops at a time. There seems be to better stock levels as hopefully people have stopped panic buying and stockpiling. DH came home with a bag of pasta with the shopping and I was thrilled!

It’s so shit about businesses closing and people losing their jobs. Fingers crossed for you Wicked

We’ve all had a couple of games of cards. We’ll perhaps move on to board games tomorrow - go slowly so as not to frighten DS1 Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/03/2020 20:52

Evening all. There has been much gardening. It has the The Day of the Chainsaws down our road. Though in our garden it has been The Day of the Fork and the Loppers and the Re-felting of the Sheds. DH was doing the sheds while I was working on the veg bed, and then we realised that a tree was down in the hedge behind the sheds, so lopping was required. I have been using the back massage thingy, but I think I need another hot bath tonight. Actually, what I really need is a good rub-down from HBFs, but in lieu of that, the bath etc will have to do.

Fancy - I regret to announce that we are also lacking in HBFs helping out with the gardening. Sad Though I did have a medium-sized daft chicken getting underfoot. It got a bit chilly alter on, but no rain.

Wicked we are queuing because only a set number of people are physically allowed in the shops, so everyone else has to queue up outside, 2m. apart. Genius application of the British Olympic Sport of 'Queueing.' Grin I've also heard that the lack of flour is down to the bakers trying to meet demand for bread and the number of people stockpiling flour. The millers are working flat out.

re the job situation. Still - at least that's 90%. it's only 80% here if you're employed, and heaven help you if you're self-employed - I think you get 80% but have to wait with no money for about three months first. Confused

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 28/03/2020 22:24

I'd quite like a chicken keeping me company while I did the gardening helen Grin ScaredyCat was out there with me, but as it was so windy, she mostly ran around like a nutter & then sloped off to butcher wildlife

Yes, the Govt have finally announced help for the self-employed, still some people who will miss out by the sounds of things. Although one silver lining - as the help will be based on income declared to HMRC over the last few years, the wankers who have been underdeclaring income in order to avoid tax or child maintenance payments will have to base their claims on their declared income and so will be entitled to less Grin

FancyFancy · 28/03/2020 23:21

Anyhow, second stump has also been dug out

LetUsPrey · 28/03/2020 23:29

I would quite like to imagine the chicken in an old “just for gardening” jacket. Possibly a flat cap too.

Hayloft for me.

LetUsPrey · 29/03/2020 11:11

Morning wenches. Totally forgot about the clocks going forward, although I’m sure it matters today.

Two part dream where we got a letter from DS2’s school saying he was in trouble for punching someone in the face. Second part was all a bit Midsomer Murders including a small voodoo figure which looked more like a bigger than usual Lego mini figure and had the number 15, a women’s cricket team and a bus that only certain people could catch.

Anyway it’s sunny but very breezy and quite chilly.

Things I was wondering this morning - does a Swedish cat’s meow sound different to an English cat’s meow?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/03/2020 11:32

Morning all. (just about) We had a night of bedhopping last night - DS came in, so I ended up in DS's bed; DH went to to toilet so DS woke up to an empty bed and came back into his bed with me; I went back to my bed. No wonder I've slept in this morning Confused I've no idea about any dreams, but for LetUs having suitably bonkers effort Grin

Currently looking at cook books wondering what to make for pudding tonight - most of them seem to involve things I haven't got in stock.

Weather is as per LetUs, and more gardening will be done. Gardening Chicken is classy and performs in burnished copper feathers - not scruffy jackets and flat caps for her Grin LOL at Scaredy Cat being a nutter in the garden - I think ours were asleep indoors.
