Or if not mist, then atmospheric lighting... Hmm

New thread offically open, complete with Wine Gin [ brew] etc. And Hayloft. Speaking of which...

Oh Apes Sad Wine

I fell asleep ok, woke up around 2, fell asleep again, woke up at 5.30, took a half sleeping pill, slept on the couch for another hour. I'm thankful for all sleep I can get. Nothing worse than being awake all night.

LetUsPrey · 24/03/2020 21:10

Evening wenches.

Got DS1 to put some towels on the line for me. DS2 got some schoolwork done

that does like it would be rather tricky to sort out..

What a palaver Apricot! But hurrah for getting it sorted in the end. Did you manage to order some of your wine?

Hopefully you’re on the right track with your sleep Wicked.

Did the Oti Mabuse dance class thing tonight on YouTube. No swivel or hips to speak of but I’ll save those for the HBFs.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/03/2020 21:32

Ohh - macerators - those are the toilets that chew everything up before unleashing it into the sewage system, yes? (Rural life - we know lost about drainage Grin )

God that sounds stressful, but glad you managed to get something ordered for an online shop Apricot - hopefully there's not too many random substitutions Confused

Several HBFs have offered to tire me out so I’m going to take them up on that offer.

Night

LetUsPrey · 25/03/2020 07:47

Morning wenches.

What a beautifully sunny day!

DS2 isn’t awake yet. It’s very peaceful. I’ve had a look at the work he should be attempting today and am hoping DS1 will help him. I’ve told him as long as he’s trying his best, that’s fine.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/03/2020 07:55

Morning all, also sunny here, a slighty harder ground frost here but it will burn off soon enough. Today I am going to have my nose to the grindstone of spreadsheets and year end calculations. Oh joy. I'm hoping that DS will be a little less in need of help than he was yesterday, so I can concentrate. Otherwise, well. I'll manage anyway.

In good news, one my my friends had a baby on Sunday - awwww. Except I can't visit for squishy baby cuddles Sad

I knew what a macerator was, learned that on Property Ladder Smile

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 25/03/2020 08:50

Happy waffle day!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/03/2020 10:05

DS is stropping over not being allowed to be on yourtube when he's meant to be doing school stuff. FML etc.

Waffle day?

OP posts:
WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 25/03/2020 10:12

Yes, we celebrate the waffle today Smile

FancyFancy · 25/03/2020 11:00

Morning
Waffle day? What a fabulous idea Grin
Yay for the delivery slot apricot, must be a huge relief.

Today looks to be rather similar to yesterday - laundry, gardening & a walk. May try to engage the DC in a board game this evening. DD had a scheduled languages speaking practice this morning so actually had to wake up before midday - has probably gone back to sleep now.

Am still ploughing through the Foyle's War DVDs, although last night's was a dubious pleasure - the plot involved anthrax & watching someone ill with breathing difficulties was a bit too real life at the moment.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 25/03/2020 11:25

We also celebrate Chocolate mud cake Day and Cinnamon bun Day among others Smile

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/03/2020 12:43

I think we should adopt all Swedish 'days' Grin Especially the mud cake one.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 25/03/2020 17:15

Evening wenches.

Love Waffle Day! And Cinnamon Bun Day.

I’m declaring this Anyone Who Emails Me At Work In A Stroppy Fashion Asking For Stuff At The Last Minute That Can’t Be Done Anyway Can Just Jolly Well Fuck Off Day.

Not as enjoyable as any of Wicked’s Swedish celebratory days though.

DS2 has forcefully expressed, using robust vocabulary, his displeasure at being told he has to do some schoolwork.

What board game are you planning Fancy?

ApricotCrush · 25/03/2020 18:01

Evening wenches. Gorgeous day here, we spent it outside in the sun, felt like we were on holiday. Smile

YES! I did order some wine, but whether it will arrive or not is another matter. I don't do substitutions in the online shop, if they haven't got it I don't want something else they think will do. Confused

Glad you all understand macerators. Grin DH had to install it as he was remodelling the upstairs of DS's house and the pipes weren't in the right place it's been a bloody nightmare all along.

Awww at new baby.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/03/2020 22:31

Evening.
Gin for LetUs.

It's been a long week - how is it only Wednesday?!

Have just been on the stepper, then stretching off on the floor. Obviously the only reason I was on the floor was so Stupid Cat could mooch over and demand attention/stuff her tail in my face Hmm

Night all.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 25/03/2020 23:12

Fingers crossed that your wine arrives Apricot. The only acceptable substitution (if you did substitutions) would be two bottles instead of one.

at stretching off on the floor

Watching a bit of Ant-Man and the Wasp. I don’t know how he does it, but Paul Rudd barely looks any different from when he was in Clueless.

Hayloft beckons.

FancyFancy · 25/03/2020 23:55

Evening
Decided to try digging out the stump of a shrub this afternoon - think this is going to be a looong job. Still, it's not like I have anywhere else to be! It has been glorious here - so warm & sunny and with it being so quiet, you can really hear the birdsong.

God Sweden has the right idea about days to celebrate Grin Only now you mention it, I really fancy some mud cake.......

The board game didn't materialise (we had been contemplating Cluedo or going really old school with Nile), but I spent too long trying to dig out that stump, so dinner was late.

LetUsPrey · 26/03/2020 08:12

Morning wenches.

That sounds glorious Fancy (except the digging out the tree stump bit).

I might suggest a board game here. Might get DS1 out of his room. He’s really got the hang of self-isolation.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/03/2020 09:34

Board games are a very good plan (anything to get DS off the xbox, though I know that it's his main way of keeping in touch with friends).

Stump digging sounds like a good project - if a bit knackering. What you need, fancy are some HBFs to help you assess your garden, and then dig. I'm sure LetUs would lend you a few if needed.

IKR re the mudcake. I really fancy one too. I nearly made chocolate-lava cakes yesterday, but... effort.

It's lovely and sunny here again, but still a bit chilly when you're actually outside. DS arrived overnight for a snuggle, until I gave up and took over his bed at 3:30. This may be why I'm knackered tonight... He's currently making hard work of his French lesson and I have emails rolling in already that need attention.

Morning
Glorious again here, although more of a wind so I expect it's chillier. I shall try more of the stump digging. Frankly even if I'd finished I'd find another one to dig out just to have the mental image of all that horticultural faf Grin

@ self isolating teens. Mine both did a lot of that yesterday. DD did go for a run again though, which I was impressed by. Am hoping to get DS to cook dinner tonight.

ApricotCrush · 26/03/2020 16:25

Afternoon. We've been sitting out in the sun again this afternoon. It's quite hot if you can find somewhere sheltered.

I've had an email from Sainsbury's with a list of items they don't have, INCLUDING WINE. Angry I sound like an alcoholic. I'm not, I just like a glass with my evening meal. I have two bottles left and can make them last for 5 or 6 days each, so I should get some before I run out.

Yay for board games, stepper, stump removing and celebration days.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/03/2020 17:04

FFS Apricot Sad is this wine exclusive to Sainburys?

Today, homeschooling has been a bit fraught with DS showing lack of initiative.
DS "I can't doooooooooo thiiiiiiiiisssss "
Me "Have you read your instructions?"
DS "What instructions? I can't do it."
Me "these ones here..."
DS "What does a skeleton doooooooooooo?"
Me

DS "What is a weight bearing activity????????"
Me "Why doing you google it?"
DS "..."
Me
etc.

Then he had some shakespeare stuff, so I sat him down with David Tennant and Catherine Tate doing 'Much Ado' on youtube, and he shrieked with laughter all the way through. So that was noisy nice.

DH has also been a drama queen - "All the tomato seedlings are dead!!!" Translation - "I didn't water them and they flopped over and they haven't recovered instantly." Actually about half will probably be ok. But that's obviously not as likely to get my attention, so we'll stick with "They're all DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!".

Tonight, I may lock myself in the bathroom and have a long hot bath with a book and some earplugs.

Morning wenches.

I am more than willing to assist Fancy with the gardening with accompanying HBFs.

Hope FancyDS dinner was tasty!

Oh bollocks for them not having your wine Apricot. If I could (and assuming our Sainsbury’s had some), I’d bring some to you, leaving it on your doorstep and waving at you through the window.

and MiniHelen - calm down, concentrate, and do your schoolwork. I’ll say this because it’s definitely working when I say the same thing to DS2

Why is it that the person at work who makes the most noise about telling everyone who’s still there to make sure they’re social distancing, is the person who isn’t fucking doing it properly? Sort of laughing at how dim some people are for not doing it whilst advancing towards me, laughing at how clever she is. Fuck. Off.

DS2 had a bit of a better day with his schoolwork but is still miles behind with his plan. And it’s always nice when he gets really frustrated and starts throwing about the swears.

Did the Clap for Carers at 8pm. Loads were out in our street at their front doors.
