Think I'm going to head for an early night...

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 21/03/2020 21:42

I should have an early night too but DH has been looking forward to watching this programme and I want to see it too, so tonight it is.

FancyFancy · 21/03/2020 23:58

It was a fairly smooth trip thanks - rather long doing there & back in a day, but the roads were relatively quiet and the sun was shining, so all in all not too bad. Have a stiff arse from sitting down too long though!

Ought to go to bed, but am too tired to move can someone send over some hbfs to carry me upstairs please?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/03/2020 08:13

Morning all. Happy mothers day to us and our mothers Smile Flowers Chocolate Wine Gin [HBFs] [peace-and-quiet...]

DS stuck his head round the door and told me to have a lie-in at about 7am, which is fine because he fed the cats. But he didn't feed the chickens or put the seedlings out (to stop them stretching) And DH was very grumpy when DS half-woke him up. So here I am sitting on the sofa with cats and laptop, a load of washing in the machine, having a nice peaceful start to the day...

Fnacy - you know full well that HBFs are willing to take you anywhere Wink However, here are a selection to provide transport for the long journey... there's some for LetUs too, since your lists overlap somewhat...

Morning wenches.

Hopefully you had HBFs to rub your backside better Fancy and also to take you upstairs.

That’s sweet of MiniHelen. DS2 was keen, DS1 was barely conscious.

Going to see mum soon, being careful to follow all guidelines. I shall mostly be staying outside and talking to her from there.

FancyFancy · 22/03/2020 11:29

Sadly I had to make my own way upstairs
Will be venturing to the shops in a bit, should be fun!

I have low expectations of Mother's Day - between teenagers forgetting it entirely/relying on each other to sort it out, boiler packing in & DD having a stomach bug over the years, I am relieved that everything is working and the sun is shining

Anyhoo, have a card and present and a promise of pancakes later, so I am happy.

LetUsPrey · 22/03/2020 12:22

I have a card, vodka, chocolate, daffodils and a puzzle book - throw in some HBFs and that’s perfection Grin

Mother was well. I maintained a safe distance and had a nice chat outside. Also set it up on my phone so she could have a video chat with LittleSis.

ApricotCrush · 22/03/2020 12:27

Afternoon wenches. Happy Mother's Day! Flowers

We're back from the caravan. All is well and we didn't speak to anyone. When I leave at the end of the season I always wonder what will be happening when we come back. If someone had said we'd be in the middle of a global pandemic, schools, pubs and restaurants would be closed, we could only see the family through the window, the supermarkets would be stripped bare and the new currency would be toilet rolls, I would have said WHAAAAAT? Confused

Anyway, DD did a top-up shop for me this morning, with me mentally going round the supermarket and telling her on the phone what I needed. Ridiculously, I got quite excited about it. Still none of my wine. Angry

Her job-share colleague isn't very well, she has the virus and also has lupus. I don't even know her, but I'm very worried about her. Also concerned about DD. They've had 9 deaths at her hospital up to yesterday. Shock She's not on the wards, but it's not a good place to be.

DS is in the food industry, and has many contacts on a daily basis, so can't work from home.

DGS has a place at school, but DD will have to alter her hours/days to do school run. Both the school and the hospital are being very helpful.

Anyway, it's a beautiful day here and I'm going out into the garden later. Have a good day all. Smile

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/03/2020 17:17

Oh lordy Apricot - yes, Lupus isn't a good thing to have with Covid. Glad you go the caravan all prepped though. What wine are you looking for? Maybe we can stockpile it for you!

We've been in the garden (or out for a walk) this afternoon. The towering inferno bonfire was lit and the sweet peas have been planted out. Plus some weeding done. Weekends a re wonderfully productive when they're not monopolised by hobbies Now I must go back to cooking. (Pancakes soudn good Fancy

Oh - also, I Did get some flowers yesterday, so it wasn't just the emergency last-minute hand-drawn card. [gn]

FancyFancy · 22/03/2020 17:30

That does sound very worrying about the colleague apricot, hope she and all your family stay safe.

Waitrose was pretty ok - hardly any meat or lager, no dried pasta or toilet roll, but stacks of fresh fruit & veg and most other staples - even frozen veg and paracetamol Shock Bought a couple of packs to send to my parents - they're taking the self-isolation seriously thank goodness & my step-mum can't take ibuprofen.

Glad you enjoyed The Favourite ww, wish i'd seen it now!

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 22/03/2020 19:29

Been quite well rested today. Woke up at 3 but managed to fall asleep again and had a very unpleasant dream. Woke up at 6 again and took a sleeping pill and slept on the couch, like a baby, for three hours. I've read that if you have trouble sleeping try to sleep somewhere else, like the couch, cause the bed can feel to connected with insomnia, and my couch i really comfy 😀

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 22/03/2020 20:42

Watching an ep of MM season 1, one extremely creepy schoolteacher in it ConfusedGrin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/03/2020 21:41

Fingers crossed for a good night's sleep tonight then Wicked. And
speaking of which I'm heading for an early night... or maybe a bath first.

LetUsPrey · 22/03/2020 21:58

That’s sad re your DD’s colleague Apricot. Fingers crossed that she and your DD and everyone else is okay. It’s good that their employer and school are being helpful.

That does sound very productive Helen. I’ve been —lazy— not as productive.

I’ve said I can try to get stuff for my parents and LovelyMIL. I think The Favourite’s already on Sky Fancy. Glass of pink fizz and some cheese and biscuits and you’ve got an evening sorted!

That’s really interesting Wicked about a change of location to help with insomnia. I’ve also been watching MM. Series 10 I think.

LetUsPrey · 22/03/2020 22:53

Night Helen. Hope you enjoyed your bath and had an HBF and rubber duck in there

Hayloft for me

LetUsPrey · 23/03/2020 07:55

Morning wenches.

It’s gone all frosty and quite chilly.

Some work come through already for DS2 so we’re going to try to structure his day and get a proper workspace set up for him.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/03/2020 08:52

LOL at rhyming slang Grin We're bright and sunny here with no frost, but the wind still has an edge to it.

I need to get cracking with home education stuff [horror] Grin We'll be fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine.

Good luck to everyone with work/school from home - and more luck to those who can't...

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 23/03/2020 11:13

Morning. Beautifully sunny here - also windy, so perfect drying weather. I have the week off, so suspect a day of pottering in the garden & doing laundry is on the cards.

Watched a Lucifer last night with DD - tried new face masks that were like having a wet wipe stuck on your face with eye, nose & mouth holes cut out & which you hooked over your ears. Seriously we looked like a pair of Hannibal Lecters Grin Lucifer referred to an Eiffel Tower in the episode - I thought of you lot!

ApricotCrush · 23/03/2020 17:50

Afternoon. Lovely day here, loads of washing done. Smile

What is it with eBay buyers? Out of 4 sales of DS's stuff, two have paid and their items have been collected by the courier - fine. One of the others is in Denmark and didn't ask if I ship overseas before buying - I don't, but I'll have to now. The other one wants to come down from Manchester on the train, collect the very heavy item and then cycle back. Confused I've told him I need cash on collection, but I don't want to see anyone so it will have to be done through a closed door. Hmm Honestly I don't know where I get these people from.

Now DS has phoned to say one of his toilets isn't working or something, and DH can't go to mend it. Argh!

That's a good point about sleeping somewhere else WW, our bedroom sometimes feels like a prison.

Enjoy your week off Fancy and good luck Helen and LetUs with the home schooling.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/03/2020 21:00

FFS re. ebay buyers. Guess that's all on hold now anyway though. Can MrA help via telephone? I remember my DF and me re-wiring an extractor fan over the phone while my mother gently freaked out on the background at the thought of me playing with electricity Grin

We've actually had a really good day on the home schooling front - DS did really well with studying (and playing on the x-box)

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 23/03/2020 21:14

Evening wenches.

I appear to be quite tired.

I remember that episode of Lucifer Fancy. I heard him say “Eiffel Tower” and my first thought was “wenches” Grin

Urgh to ebay people being annoying. Good idea re MrApricot talking them through the toilet issue on the phone. Could he also look for an appropriate YouTube video and, if there is one, point them in that direction?

at rewiring with an anxious parent in the background on the phone.

DS2 appears to have been set enough work to keep him going until Christmas but it’s only for the next two weeks. As far as I’m aware —because we’ve had no information or instructions given to us by the powers that be— I’m in the office for the foreseeable.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/03/2020 07:42

Morning all.

Bright and sunny, with a slight ground frost this morning.

Last night's bonkers dream for your entertainment...

I'm at restaurant, run by Jay Rayner, who is chatting to me - there is some banter. For some reason I can't leave without buying something, so I order an apple (I have no idea if that's because I'm not hungry or if it's the cheapest thing available). I can only have the apple if I go upstairs, which is up a 'stairway' that consists of, essentially, shelves attached to the wall, and I can't get up there (because, dream.) So I faf about for a bit longer and then the stairs actually come out from the wall on horizontal stalks which makes them climbable, except some treads are just balanced on the stalks and they wobble from side to side. I get to the top and interrupt a conversation between the chef and a waiter to ask for my apple. They produce my apple for me. It's on a stick like a toffee apple, but consists of a core-shaped tube of apple and some foam (gravity and physics do not apply during dreams). I jump down the 'stairs' rather than try to walk down them, and manage not to fall over. Then I suggest hat they call an ambulance the one of their customers who is lying on the ground. She may be ill, or possibly just drunk.

Later I am sitting in a pub and there is glass all over my seat, so I pick it up, tidy it away and thrown material over the seat, and carry on sitting there. Someone asks what was all the flirty chat with Jay Rayner earlier. I shrug.

fin.

You can wake up again now and join me in wondering what exactly my subconscious was on last night Confused

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 24/03/2020 08:02

Morning wenches. Sunny here too.

What a brilliantly bonkers dream Helen! Erm, the apple is temptation (HBF), the upper level without proper stairs is determination to reach your goals (HBF), lying down customer (wench overwhelmed by FAF), glass on the seat ..... nope. But generally it’s your subconscious being particularly cruel by HBFing your dream without putting actual HBFs in it. Or you ate something dodgy before bed.

Better get on with breakfast.

FancyFancy · 24/03/2020 11:04

Morning
That is a properly batshit dream helen Grin

Another sunny day here - more laundry then!

ApricotCrush · 24/03/2020 17:54

Evening. Lovely day here.

Confused at bonkers dream.

Err no, I don't think DH or YouTube can assist DS with the installation of a new macerator. They managed to identify the problem on the phone, but no, it's kaput. They'll just have to do without the bathroom toilet for the forseeable. Hmm

I managed to get a Sainsbury online shop for Thursday!!! I look every day and they had added a whole day. I think they may have included me in the oldies' extra slots. Shock All was great until I tried to pay, but neither my nor DH's card would go through. We took a good hour trying to phone the bank, only for them to tell us that it was Sainsbury's site which had crashed and to keep trying. I was worried that I would be timed out but eventually tried on the iPad and it went through. It will be interesting to see what arrives, but phew!

The remaining two very awkward eBay parcels have been wrapped and should be collected tomorrow.

I'm now going to have a glass of Wine as I'm exhausted. Still not sleeping.
