Morning. DS has gone off to school, a lot cheerier that he was last night - the radio announced that Taskmaster are going to set daily 'tasks' for the general population to keep us entertained, so DS is very much looking forward to that. He's also going to help with breakfast next week so he has 'something to do' Hmm

Morning
DD also chirpy about school being cancelled, although less so at being told by a teacher that years 10 & 12 stand to lose a lot a teaching if this goes on for any length of time. Years 10 to 13 are at least less trouble at home, but with exam confusion for years 11 & 13 and the prospect of the loss of a large chunk of teaching time for years 10 & 12 they are obviously a bit anxious.

Anyhow, off to the office for me - laters everyone

In better news, spoke to DSis, she changed jobs last year to a smaller hospital - away from a respiratory specialism to a less patient-focussed role.

FancyFancy · 19/03/2020 09:02

Pressed send too soon! Dsis's hospital is concentrating on non-coronavirus patients, so hopefully less stressful than it could have been for her.

LetUsPrey · 19/03/2020 19:53

Evening wenches.

I like the sound of the Taskmaster challenge a day. Wonder how long MiniHelen’s breakfast assistance will last and if it will be as helpful as DH has been this week because he’s been around at breakfast time.

That must be a relief for you and your sister Fancy, although I expect she and her colleagues are mega-busy. They’re all amazing.

DS2 is fairly happy re school, although less so that school are really on it and are organising work to do at home. DS1 is waiting (along with all the others in a similar position) to hear about exam results.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/03/2020 20:43

Evening. According to DH, DS has been told that he's expected to do 5 hours study a day at home. Hmm I think the likelihood of that is... 0% Sad It's going to be grim..

Plus I'm shattered. Send HBFs and sleep. Not necessarily complimentary - we have better things to do with HBFs than sleep usually, but I'm willing to make an exception tonight and just have HBFs as pillow/duvet/mattress.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 19/03/2020 21:03

Can I guess who would be implementing and supervising the five hours a day of study? Can I? And all while working too? I sent an email to DH today about something we’d had from school. Apparently he didn’t know as that’s not really his thing, but if I’d made the decision without him, he’d be pulling his face about it.

Athos is already lying down, ready and waiting.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/03/2020 21:16

Indeed LetUs. It's like I said about the BBC iplayer content - yay!!! ...except actually I now have even less spare time to watch anything. And freelancing chooses today to be a 'mental-busy-here's-more-work' day. Gah :((

Bath and bed for me...

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 19/03/2020 22:52

Don't envy you having to supervise 5 hours a day helen

Most of us felt rather restless at work today, trying to plan for working from home - easier for some of us than others. We must be an honest bunch though - spare loo rolls stacked up in the toilet!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/03/2020 07:52

Morning. LOL at the spare loo rolls Fancy - best keep that quiet for you'll be raided by marauding people-who-like-loo-rolls.

Went to bed with a headache and have woken up with it still. FFS. Could do with doing some food shopping today - oh joy...

Morning wenches.

So DS1 claims he doesn’t have to go into college today blah blah. I’ve phoned to report absence (has to be done by a parent) and the woman on the phone isn’t happy with me even though I’ve told him he should go in! They may be phoning me back. I’m cross with him for not going in i the first place, so now I’m twice as cross with him. He’s sulking with me because I should have told them he’s ill. Nope, not lying because he can’t be arsed.

You have more honest people than we do Fancy. Some bottles of hand wash appear to have gone missing at our place FFS.

Hope the headache bogs off quickly Helen and you have successful shopping.

FancyFancy · 20/03/2020 08:38

Good luck with the shopping & headache helen

Totally understand you not lying to school letus - I'm the same. DD's school have told years 11 & 13 not to come in today so they can focus on years 10 & 12.

Am off work next week, so am planning to bring a lot of files home tonight ready for the week after with all the talk of imminent isolation. Right, work, laters..........

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 20/03/2020 16:53

I found some toiletpaper in the store today! Yay!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/03/2020 19:19

Whoop!!! (for loo roll!)

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 20/03/2020 19:19

Evening wenches.

Roads a bit quieter on the way home. Supermarket car parks were busy though. No HBFs to help the day pass.

Are you stocked up with essentials Fancy? HBFs, pink fizz, biscuit spread?

Hurrah for toilet paper Wicked!

Hope all is okay at the caravan with Apricot.

I’m watching Mark Kermode’s Secrets of Cinema: Superheroes. Loving it.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/03/2020 20:25

Evening. I have worked sporadically. I went back to bed after DS went to school. Got to 8:45 - 'Just 5 minutes' I thought to myself - and woke up at 9:05 Shock [horror] Scooted into the office and turned on my laptop. Email waiting from Manager saying he'd drop off some equipment for me 9:30 - 10am Shock [horror] [teeth-cleaning] [get dressed]. Actually, he got caught up with stuff and didn't appear until midday - just after I'd emailed saying that he didn't need to come over because DH had spare computer equipment stuff that I could use. Anyway, after that I went shopping and got most of what I was after - plenty of milk on the shelves, which was handy. Also biscuits Grin Then I've worked past 6pm, so I feel ok about my productivity.

Have just downloaded 'Secrets of Cinema: Superheroes' Grin We're watching Taskmaster. Ds also seems a bit more positive about doing schoolwork at home, so fingers crossed we don't kill each other over the next year few weeks...

In other news, the next door neighbours phoned to say that they had friend staying in their house, in case we wondered who the random strangers are. They're up from London because they wanted to infect our entire road have a break. Hmm I shall not be interacting in any way whatsoever

LetUsPrey · 20/03/2020 21:47

I can just picture the aaarrrggghhhh as you read that email Helen!

Hurrah for milk and biscuits! DH is planning to set off earlier than usual for the shopping. I need to call in Monday or Tuesday morning to the supermarket pharmacy so I’m taking requests from mother and MIL as they’ll not be going to the shops for a while —they’d better not—

Massive at the visitors.

FancyFancy · 20/03/2020 23:56

Evening
Also found milk in the supermarket today and loo roll, yay! Still no hbfs on the shelves though, boo! Long day tomorrow - am going to fetch DS.

FancyFancy · 21/03/2020 09:01

Morning.
Must get ready to head off - nice sunny day so far so hoping it stays like this. Laters

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/03/2020 09:16

Oh - safe drive Fancy It's lovely and sunny here this morning, so hopefully you have good weather to travel in.

I think today we will mostly be in the garden... and buying chicken food if we can.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 21/03/2020 10:46

Morning wenches. This thing of there being no HBFs on the shelves - is it because we’ve stockpiled them in the Tav?

Safe and happy travels Fancy.

DH was out very early to do the shopping. He got most things but not all but it’s all good. However, as appreciative as I am of everything he does, I’m hoping for good weather then he can spend a lot of time in the garden.

Watched Picard this morning. Rios went sleeveless and there was the odd bit of Spanish, some it a bit angry.

Not sure of plans for today.

LetUsPrey · 21/03/2020 18:16

Have done some washing which I actually pegged out. Had a relaxing afternoon including a bath. No HBFs in the bath though, unlike this one.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 21/03/2020 20:28

Evening Wine

Watched The Favourite earlier, really good movie, dark and funny, fab cast. Now I'm watching the first ep of MM Murder at Badger's Drift, excellent characters like the creepy undertakers, the Rainbirds Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/03/2020 20:33

Evening. Various bits of washing blew off the line here Shock

I got the chicken food today, so they're happy. Was in the line in front of someone talking about how they 'just fed their chickens scraps and rice, but what would they feed them now that they couldn't get rice to cook for them?' I managed not to turn around and shout "Then buy them some proper food for them that's actually designed to give them a balanced/nutritious diet, FFAS!" honestly, why are some people so... gah!!!

Other than that, spent a lot of the day making a space in the spare room so DS can have a table for doing school stuff while I'm working. We are going to motivate each other. Yay Hmm I figure that his presence will actually guilt-trip me into not doing too much surfing so it might be quite productive as long as his contribution isn't a constant stream of questions Grin

That looks like a very nice Bath LetUs - wasn't a bit crowded though - what with HBFs at both ends

Hope Fancy had a successful and stress-free trip... and that Apricot and MrA are getting the caravan set up and avoiding everyone else, and that wicked is getting lots of sleep...

Also watching Avengers - TomH going full Loki Grin

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 21/03/2020 21:16

Also on Avengers

Loved The Favourite. My parents have got loads of MM DVDs. I might see if I can borrow some - safely for course. They can leave them in a safe space in their garden for me to collect.

I know someone a bit like that with their dog Helen. Give the poor thing dog food! Good luck with the mutual motivation.

HBFs at both ends Grin

Going to watch Bulletproof 2 next.
