Or if not mist, then atmospheric lighting... Hmm

New thread offically open, complete with Wine Gin [ brew] etc. And Hayloft. Speaking of which...

Oh, it's snowing! Confused

LetUsPrey · 25/02/2020 20:00

Evening wenches.

Hope you get to enjoy the play Helen and then have a lovely, peaceful night’s sleep.

Every year I kid myself that I can make pancakes —although I rarely cook— and every year there are varying levels of success. Still DS2 enjoyed them, particularly if the number of pancakes he ate is anything to go by. DH of course wandered into the kitchen just as I’d started cooking them to give his opinion on how I was using the wrong pan and he would have used that one. Well, next year he can use whichever pan he wants and I’ll have some lovely shop bought ones.

Snowing Apricot?! No. Sorry. That’s unacceptable. Go away snow and leave us alone.

FancyFancy · 25/02/2020 23:31

Evening
Watching more Foyles' War, no unexpected faces yet.

Pancakes weren't the best, I'm clearly out of practice.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/02/2020 23:40

Om-nom-nom - Have just got back from play (which was good but I did feel a HBF bit sleepy during the dimly lit parts) and have made lunch for tomorrow, and finished off the pancake batter. I do good pancakes (or I do when I don't use the pan which has lost its non-stickiness Confused )

Snow Apricot? Shock I did see mention of snow to the north west, but I didn't think you'd qualify for that.

Hayloft now - I shall be trashed at work tomorrow Sad

Morning wenches.

Thanks for the pancakes Helen. You’re right, they’re super tasty.

My brain is still fast asleep.

FancyFancy · 26/02/2020 09:38

Morning, having a rare Wednesday off, so am totally confused as to what day it is.

DD keeps gleefully telling me about forecast snow - no thank you.

ApricotCrush · 26/02/2020 17:40

Afternoon. Lovely day here, with the occasional shower.

Oh God, DH's car is in for repair and he's using mine. Shock I don't trust him with it. It's old and needs to be handled with care like me and he doesn't understand its little foibles. I was a nervous wreck waiting for him to come back from golf, but all was well. He says it likes him driving it and I said it doesn't, it's terrified. Shock

We're watching Flesh and Blood (ITV four nights this week). It's good. The Duke of Savoy is in it, better than he was in Poldark.

LetUsPrey · 26/02/2020 20:12

Evening wenches.

Oooo a rare Wednesday off Fancy! Hope it’s been full of happy relaxation/HBFs and shagging.

Lots of sleet and hail here.

I’d have to disagree on the old point Apricot, but not the handle with care Grin. Pleased your car’s back safe with you.

I’ve finished my jigsaw. DS2 has done homework. I’m pretending I have willpower and that I’m not going to get —another— a packet of crisps.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/02/2020 20:50

Evening.

Today, I have:

  • Overslept by about 2 hours
  • Had to cancel two mislaid cards from two different banks which I know I unpacked but...???
  • Been late to work
  • Forgot my parking permit for work (and got another ticket)
  • Missed calls from DS at school
  • Got to my phone just as it stopped ringing (unrelated to the above)
  • Wondered what to do about DS with temperature (but seems fine otherwise)
  • Watched my laptop update for 1 hour and counting (27% atm "This will take a while" - no shit Sherlock)
  • Tried to deal with financial messes at work with colleagues who think "we'll just sort it out later" when, actually, we need to sort it out pronto or it will be year end and a whole other mess to sort out.

etc etc.

It's not been one of my best days. But we haven't had snow or hail, so there's that Hmm

Hope that Fancy has had a lovely day off, and Apricot's car has recovered from the trauma, and LetUs managed to avoid a second packet of crisps, and Wicked is feeling ok

Nice decorations helen.

The day off was because DD had a hospital appointment, so although I did briefly see FancyMan, there was little time for letus's suggestions sadly Grin

Glad your car is ok apricot
Right, I need to crack on with a few more chores, and then more Foyles' War. It really is a bit trashy & patronising, but it looks pretty and I like playing 'spot the actor in their younger days' - perfect for relaxing to.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/02/2020 21:09

Also, inspired by elsewhere - big coats... (and cloaks)

That sounds a right day and a half Helen.

Hope MiniHelen is okay. Same for FancyDD.

I’m off to have fun amongst the coats in the Tav cloakroom. I’ll be a while.

LetUsPrey · 27/02/2020 07:56

Morning wenches.

It’s sunny! But about 10 miles away there’s snow.

As it’s important to stay warm, I’m going to get back under the coats.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/02/2020 09:10

Morning all. No sleeping in this morning, but very interrupted sleep last night - DS feeling rough and in and out of bed. He's currently curled up on the sofa feeling sorry for himself, watching cartoons...

I agree LetUs - it's very important to keep warm.

Afternoon. Nice day here, but still cold.

DH's car isn't ready so he'll be off in mine again tomorrow.

Gosh Helen that sounds like a horrendous day. You don't need that when you've just come back from holiday. Hope DS is feeling a bit better.

Also hope FancyDD is alright.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/02/2020 19:15

Evening.

DS is still under the weather (he even stopped playing x-box without being asked to!) So there's no chance he'll be at school tomorrow. DH and I will be running relays on childcare while also getting to respective work meetings and working from home... (fortunately the timings work out quite well for that).

Livestock news - HoudiniHen is enjoying having us back (because it means she's let out and can escape over the fence again). Today she has pecked at the pegs in the basked helped me hang out washing, and tried to follow DH to work (I retrieved her before he could run her over - I'm not sure she's got the brainpower to get out from under the wheels when the car starts up).

Evening wenches.

Poor MiniHelen Shock at coming off the x-box without being asked! Hope he’s feeling much better soon.

Is MrApricot being kind and considerate to your car Apricot?

I love The Tales of HoudiniHen Grin. There’s a children’s book there —except for the nearly being squished under a car bit—

Umbrellas are always needed

Off to the hayloft to get some sleep before DS wakes up again... Confused

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 27/02/2020 23:30

Night Helen. Here’s to some restorative sleep for you both.

Hayloft for me too.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/02/2020 07:55

Urgh - less than 6 hours sleep.

Morning wenches.

DS2 had a nightmare and came into see us. Took a while for me to get back to sleep.

And it’s 8am and I’ve not had breakfast yet.

Still, it’s Friday. Hope your car is back where it belongs today Apricot.

FancyFancy · 28/02/2020 08:28

Morning
How is DS this morning helen?
sounds like Brews are due all round.

Work for me & then out for dinner with DD - laters.....

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 28/02/2020 10:06

Happy birthday Fancy WineCakeFlowersGin

ApricotCrush · 28/02/2020 16:43

Afternoon. Chucking it down all day here.

The car had a lucky escape, golf was rained off. However, it did have to drive to the garage (12 miles away) to collect DH's car but I drove, amid instructions to 'get into that lane, mind that car, you're too close to the kerb, you're not as confident as you used to be.' No of course I'm not, because you're with me and you won't shut up. Gah! Anyway, his car is back so all is well.

Aw, love HoudiniHen, she sounds a proper little madam. Hope DS is feeling better.

Happy Birthday to Fancy, have a lovely evening. Wine Cake Flowers

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/02/2020 18:13

DS still has a temperature though he seems a lot perkier today.

Apricot - yes, exactly that re. backseat drivers - FFS. Hurrah for you having your car back to yourself though.

[matchsticks] and Brew for the sleep-deprived amongst us. I'm out paying badminton tonight as well Confused in the wind and rain. Driving, anyway - not actually playing in it! Hope that Fancy has a lovely birthday meal, and a lovely birthday in general. Ignoring the work bit of it,
