Lucykate - Kate Samderson is Kate Gerbeau now, isn't she? Married to P-Y of that ilk, the former Dome supremo. see here

TheApprentice · 30/08/2007 10:23

Am joining this thread rather late in the day, but NotanOtter you must have been at uni with me, as Victoria Derbyshire studied English with me. Not that she ever deigned to speak to me mind.....

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/08/2007 10:27

seeker, what,with Boris ?

hatwoman · 30/08/2007 10:32

I went to college with "Piano Tie" bloke who got rejected from X factor 2 years ago. The one who yelled "I have got the X-factor" at Simon Cowell as he went to the WC.
In same vein, I was in halls with another X factor reject, the one who tried to sing YMCA and ended up doing a pizza hut advert.

bundle · 30/08/2007 11:28

Rick Astley

FlameBatfink · 30/08/2007 13:14

I've heard of Pitchshifter

FlameBatfink · 30/08/2007 13:16

@ our porn stars Elfinblast!

EffiePerine · 30/08/2007 13:25

Uni: mostly second-rate politicians and academics. They crop up on R4 occasionally but that's it.

School: no-one that I know of. The only 'notable' recent alumnus when I was at school was the woman from Swing Out Sister. That's as sleb as we got.

oliveoil · 30/08/2007 13:28

none

(but tbh, I don't know half of the ones who are supposed to be 'of note' on this thread anyway)

EffiePerine · 30/08/2007 13:30

Hang on, how could I forget? One of my classmates from primary and secondary school is a presenter on Radio Lincolnshire

Hurlyburly · 30/08/2007 13:30

Am still chortling at the piano-tie bloke. That's an all-time low. Not so much sleb as slebwannabe.

mrsgrimwig · 30/08/2007 13:31

Jennster/Intheseshoes - I went to your school too! Quite a CTK reunion ...re Marc Almond, unfortunately he went to the all boys school in the area so we can't claim that one. Alas will have to settle for two fiths of Gomez instead (Paul Blackburn being the other one who was in my year).

OK, this is getting scary. There are so many Oxford contemporaries of mine on this thread I think I must know at least one of you.

Hatwoman - which college was DH - I am an engineer, Somerville, 1988 - which makes me one of 4 people!!

as for famous contemporaries - Matthew Pinscent until he gave up and went off to be famous instead.

PomsMum · 30/08/2007 13:43

Alistair Bruce Ball sports reporter from Radio Five Live - of note - no, of interest - no, don't know why I mentioned it actually... doesn't really count does it??!

Issy - RW wasn't at Oxford tho all the others were (I know them all - the tory crowd I mean) although I would class few to none of them as "friends". she was at Bristol I thinnk.

Unless my 18 week pg brain is muddling my memory (perfectly possible)

HairyToe · 30/08/2007 13:48

I went to school with a girl who in later life went on to read the local news. I have been waiting excitedly ever since for her to become famous so I can have a celebrity association.

No luck yet!

Jennster · 30/08/2007 13:50

Mrs Grimwig you were the year above me then. Paul Blackburn was also in the year above me on the same course at uni. He dropped out though when they got famous.

stealthsquiggle · 30/08/2007 13:53

..and Jacob R-M was chiefly known, as I remember, for wearing a suit - always - most odd. We debated rejecting his application to join the Industrial Society on principle but really couldn't!

Issy, I know Marcus, but not through college, he's a friend of a friend and has also worked on a programme with a colleague

FlameBatfink · 30/08/2007 13:57

My sister was at school with someone who has gone on to become quite a big name amongst glamour models (not Jordan or Jodie Marsh!!) - apparently a big name with "thems that know"

UnquietDad · 30/08/2007 13:57

Ooh, what was the Rachel Whetstone/ David Cameron bust-up?
