Oh Hatwoman - Chris Rokos also! I had totally forgotten about him though. Also around at the same time were Jason Burke (warzone investigator/journalist) and Louise Bagshawe (squillionaire popular novelist).

Louise Bagshawe, trashy novels (uni)

Victoria Wood (school but before my time)

... er, let me think. Ah yes, the lead singer of Massive Attack lived in my dh's street (at the same time as dh. They were friends).

And of course, lots of very dull and uninteresting people had the privilege of going to school with ME

Jennster · 29/08/2007 17:44

I went to school with Tom gray of Gomez and I'm told that Dominic Matteo (liverpool footballer) and Mark Almond from Soft Cell went to my school.

kerala · 29/08/2007 17:45

Watched the 10 oclock news a few weeks ago and an old classmate was one of the roving reporters. On the same programme was a guy in my law school class who had just acted on a very prominent law changing divorce case.

I sat on the sofa bfing feeling abit left behind..

Christian Bale was in my class at primary school. He stood out as being talented even then.

Tutter · 29/08/2007 17:53

[impressed] at christian bale

pointydog · 29/08/2007 17:59

Douglas Alexander Mp - he's a minister now is he not?

Not very exciting

liger · 29/08/2007 17:59

he was drool then too, all the girlies had crushes on him - as you do age 7 - but he was too cool for all that.

InTheseShoes · 29/08/2007 18:08

Jennster - then you and I went to the same school... how spooky. I suspect I am a lot older than you though, I was in the same year as Tom's elder sister. Dominic Matteo did go there too, not sure about Marc Almond though, although he is from our town.

scienceteacher · 29/08/2007 18:11

Linsey Macdonald (the 1980s teenage athlete) was in my class at uni.

PinkMartini · 29/08/2007 18:45

BBC's Berlin correspondent Tristana Moore
She used to win public speaking competitions and I remember her playing a very unctious Malvolio in Twelfth Night.
Hear her sometimes on the Today programme and am back in the school hall!

AnnainNZ · 29/08/2007 18:59

Muffin McClay, I went to the same school as you...apparently the actress who played Bet Lynch (Julie Goodyear I think) went there too, but long before our time obviously

peanutbear · 29/08/2007 19:04

AnnainNZ - small world (except you're the other side of it ). You weren't the Anna who left early to star in musicals were you?

Didn't know about Julie Goodyear.

There were a couple of successful musical types too weren't there. I remember a singer and a flute player. I can visualise them, but can't think of their names.

AnnainNZ · 29/08/2007 19:18

Are you thinking of Laura Jellicoe (flute) and Debbie Myers (opera singer I think)? They were both in my year.

There was also Naomi somebody who was in Emmerdale later, though I don't know if she's still acting now.

No, I didn't go off to sing in musicals...can't sing to save my life

Jennster · 29/08/2007 19:19

Inthese shoes you were 2 years below my brother then. Are you still in the area if you don't mind me asking?

Bink · 29/08/2007 19:21

Did you know that Wikipedia has sections headed "People associated with [your school here]"? I just found it when prompted by this to wonder whatever happened to Jack Docherty (who was in the year below me & I believe known as John then).
