Rosa - I've just found out it was in an old issue so I've missed it, probably Mays. Thanks for offering to keep a look out though.

I had yoghurt and banana. the dentist gave me some strong nurofen (600 mg) and took that. This particular tooth had given me problems for ages, 2 christmas ago it got infected, I was in a big pain for a week, I needed injections of antibiotics... guess who did those?? my fil. Now, I'm shameless !

Rosa · 07/06/2007 12:48

Franca come va ????

francagoestohollywood · 07/06/2007 19:02

ciao rosa, thanks for asking ... it still hurts a lot, but I'm keeping it under control with nurofen.
when are you arriving here (you've probably said a thousand times, but my brain is just no working)? are you packing? you should come to exeter!

Rosa · 07/06/2007 20:05

2 weeks and 6 days. I have been thinking about the bags as I do have 40 kg as dd has her seat but I don't think I can manage more than 1 case. But will think about it more next week. As Dh is following a few weeks later then he can bring the rest of the stuff. Mind you I need space for shopping !!!

Keep taking the nurofen... Exeter is about 2 hrs from grandparents ...so you never know !

francagoestohollywood · 07/06/2007 20:42

manca poco! you must be very excited

Rosa · 09/06/2007 13:23

Today the heat is getting up so I am really looking forward to the Uk now !! How is your dente or rather buco del dente doing ?
Pippi whats your new house like ? DId the move go ok ??

francagoestohollywood · 09/06/2007 16:37

ciaoooo, it was getting quiet here ! It's hot in devon too (yuppie emoticon!). I even did a bit of gardening today . Il buco del dente still hurts without painkiller. This morning I took 1 aulin and 2 paracetamol...
do you go to spiaggia from there?

francagoestohollywood · 09/06/2007 16:37

Pippi?????

Rosa · 09/06/2007 20:27

No going to Lido is 40 mins of a packed boat to a beach of snobby Venetians ( all thin and already tanned)where capannas cost a fortune and I can't cope with the attitudes. We do sometimes go to Lido di jesolo where it is do what you like and how you like...But not that often now. I like English beaches but could do with the facilities of the Italian ones if you know what I mean!!
It is rather tranquilla here at the mo . Pippi must be still unpacking. Califrau was about the other evening...med on hols and no inputs from mary pop or others. Oh well

Well done with the gardening !! I would love to have a garden .

francagoestohollywood · 09/06/2007 20:55

Lol at already tanned... I went once (I was a child) to the bagni of Hotel Excelsior (becuase some friends were there) and it had those posh ombrelloni... so decadent.
It's gorgeous here today, very warm but not soffocante. perfect.

Rosa · 12/06/2007 08:33

Morning morning .. Franca or other Ital mums pls can you help in resolving a discussion in our household.

Sweet potatoes (UK) = Patata Americana ( ITaly)...orange ones
So Patate dolce = ????? in the UK. They are largeish , white , a bit bumpy and when you peel if you don't stick in water straight away they go brown. They take about 10 mins more to to cook than normal pots...What are they ??? They do taste a bit sweeter as well !
Thank you ...it came up agaion in conversation last night !

francagoestohollywood · 12/06/2007 09:31

ciao rosa. I haven't a clue! I think we need CALIFRAU!!!

Brangelina · 12/06/2007 14:26

I think those are yams Rosa. Do you mean the sticky, starchy ones? Mind you, both are called patate americane in our local ethnic supermarket, but maybe that's because they're Chinese...

francagoestohollywood · 12/06/2007 14:38

hei brangelina, haven't "seen" you for ages! how are things in monza?

Brangelina · 12/06/2007 14:48

Dull dull dull. DD has varicella so I've been stuck at home trying to work with a constant "MAMMA" shouted at top volume. I had to take her out yesterday as I needed to go somewhere and I got funny looks for taking a pox-ridden child out in public. DP is at home with her today and being an oblivious male has taken her to the giostre at a centro commerciale. Luckily it was somewhere not local so if there is an epidemic no one will know it's her .

francagoestohollywood · 12/06/2007 14:55

! I took to ds to giostra here as well when he had varicella. But he had only a few spots, and as you know, people are more laid back in England (or simply just don't look at you...). Also I think they are infettivi only for the first few days, so she's probably fine.
Do you work in Milano? I must have asked already, but can't remember anything. It's just downing on me that although we are staying in Italy for the wholeof August, I probably won't get to stay in Milano, not even for a few days. I'm panicking.
