granita di fragoline (or caffe or gelsi) con panna e brioscia. (Excellent ones to be found in Milazzo)

francagoestohollywood · 05/06/2007 14:28

curries are yummie, I can see Sicilians taking to curries, you could start a business !

Rosa · 05/06/2007 15:26

July 12th DH joins me in the Uk . July 13th grandma is babysitting and we are going for a curry ..... Can't wait !

Granite is one thing I would miss if I lived in the UK .But have to be good ones done with fresh fruit not the sciroppo thing.

The younger sicilians are quite keen to have a go at trying new stuff but the likes of gus's auntie just turn there nose up at foreign muck !!! To them sicilian, only sicilian cooking is the best, no other should even enter their mouths !!! (is damn good cooking but me thinks one should always be open to different stuff !)

AM green Califrau the last time I went to Sorrento I brought back a bag full of lemons was 5 months pregnant at the time and had 24 hr case and this huge bag of lemons ..Said I had cravings as I stunk out the plane !!
I think mum and I used a bit of vodka in the end the dodgy russian stuff not Smirnoff. It came out ok but it was not as good as when we made it here but now I dont have a nice dark cantina to leave it in !

francagoestohollywood · 05/06/2007 20:47

michymama, yes, that's true!
I love raw lemons by the way, one of my favourite things, since I was a child, is reading books while eating lemons cut in quarters (but it has to be good lemons, the big ones either from amalfi or liguria - with lots of fluffy white thing near the peel, ifykwim...)

francagoestohollywood · 05/06/2007 20:48

Rosa · 05/06/2007 21:05
