Rosa · 12/08/2007 11:52

It was no peanuts and also no fresh made ice cream ...as eggs ! with nonna watching me like a hawke I stuck to what doc said it was just not worth the hassle...even though I missed teh crudo like mad.....and once I did put it on pizza and cooked it !!!

PippiLangstrump · 12/08/2007 17:18

cooked crudo... salty and yuky but I might be tempted.

PippiLangstrump · 12/08/2007 17:19

ahh, a question. has any of you ever sent furniture from italy to england (or viceversa). How much are we roughly talking about?

I've got few pieces that i'd love in my hopuse here but have no idea how much is going to set me back.

hotmediterraneo · 12/08/2007 17:37

I am sure I had prosciutto in my pregnancy, not early on because just the smell made me feel sick, but definetely later on. I remember scoffing a big piece of brie the day after ds was born....heavenly....Pippi why didn't the gp wanted to see you at 5 weeks gone?

PippiLangstrump · 12/08/2007 17:47

hotmed, he looked at me as if I'd gone too early. he even asked me if I was sure I was pg (WTF!!!). He insinuated that as anything could happen at this very early staged I should have probably waited (what? not to waste an apt?? WTF2)

sometimes GPs really piss me off - they always treat you as if you are disturbing them and going there because you have nothing better to do and with the purpose of wasting their time.

hotmediterraneo · 12/08/2007 17:50

He should start registering you for all the antenatal appointments. My gp is very good, but some are really so unsupportive.

Ellbell · 12/08/2007 17:55

Pippi... Just seen this. Auguroni! I am so pleased for you.... I am like this: ! Ignore the stupid doctor and enjoy!!!!

Globetrotter... good luck with the teachers. I hope it all works out for you.

Back to work now.... I have finished one book and now have to finish an article before I can go on holiday on Saturday. Madonna che stress!

Bacioni a tutte

PippiLangstrump · 12/08/2007 18:06

ellbell great to hear from you, we've missed posts for a while when I was away and without internet.
thanks! I am like this too!!!
hope you have a nice well deserved holiday!!

Hotmed he did take my details down and told me he will register me but not to expect anyone contacting me for at least another 6 weeks! I've just registered with this practice and this is not my doct, I heard mine is lovely especially with kids.

TBH I don't care about these doctors, I am not expecting much anymore. If no one was much bothered, midwives in part, about 1st pg I can just imagine how thrilled they'll be about the second.

Rosa · 16/08/2007 21:22

Ellbell Buona Vacanza.... Pippi just go with the flow am sure all will be fine!

francagoestohollywood · 22/08/2007 10:47

ciao a tutte!
pippi ... well done!
we are still in Italy. we had a great time in tuscany (it felt as if the world is not so bad after all...). we are now in Milan for a few days, househunting... (sort of)
we are catching the ferry next friday.
BRAVA PIPPI!!!!!

PippiLangstrump · 23/08/2007 14:25

ciao franca ben tornata. was it peaceful and relaxing? what did you do?

I am very happy , obviously, but feeling so queasy and bloated I just want to cuddle up in bed.

hotmed · 23/08/2007 22:51

Ciao a tutte! What weather, no? Dreadful....
Chewing ginger did wonders for my early pregnancy nausea, Pippi. And crackers! And 15 hours sleep on the trot, difficult with toddler around of course!

PippiLangstrump · 24/08/2007 07:51

i'm having hot water with ginger all the time hotmed and i've started going back to bed when dd goes which is something unheard of normally. it's easier than first time though as i am aware of it and know that it will go. still...

DH and I wanted to go away for a 'wild' weekend on our first date anniversary in sept but it's a bit pointless if all I want to do is sleep and I feel sick just looking at a glass of red wine. might have to wait till this three months go.

hotmed · 24/08/2007 12:55

at least you are not missing anything weatherwise...

francagoestohollywood · 24/08/2007 14:31

pippi, I found that chewing liquirizia helped (vaguely) during my second pg, when I felt even worse (if possible) than the first time.
we had a great, relaxing time in tuscany, we were in quite a remote place, lovely people, excellent food, etc. the children had a great time as well as we were with friends with children etc.
we are catching the ferry back in a week time . ciaoooo

hotmed · 24/08/2007 18:28

PippiLangstrump · 25/08/2007 09:20

cali my brother used to work in Val D'Orcia near Montepulciano! The first time I went to see him, when the hill where all yellow because of the 'grano', the little casali or chiesette with one tree next to them, and the tiny paesini at the top of the hills: It's breathtaking... I think it's one of the most beautiful places I have seen!

Rosa · 25/08/2007 14:52

Ah Pippi you have brough back a memory . I once worked in Montepulciano and used to go regularly to the Castello di Ripa D'Orcia.. Great drive over wasn't too sure of teh Contessa though she used to scare me!!
Hope you are all well I am enjoying the sunshine in the Uk still and sorry but do not want to go back to Venezia....

hotmed · 25/08/2007 19:50

Venice is so much better after the summer...

Rosa · 26/08/2007 21:21

mmm.not convinced just prefer it here to be honest. More for DD to do !

francagoestohollywood · 01/09/2007 09:06

Ciao a tutte, we arrived in Exeter yesterday afternoon. It's cold!!! .
CALIFRAU, I thought of you when in Toscana, what an amazing place. We weren't in a very turistico place, we were staying in a very quiet, isolated agriturismo on the hills between bolgheri and volterra. The agriturismo (which I thouroughly recommend - perfect with young children) was perched on the top of a hill with a 360 degree view on rolling hills, the only sign of vita moderna were the lights from volterra (beautiful city). There were lots of paesini around us, querceto, montecatini val di cecina, pomarance. very nice people. prezzi bassi, fantastic food, the sense that life can still be nice, after all. We really had a lovely time. The children (we were there with other families) enjoyed it a lot as well, even if we didn't really go to the seaside as we expected (troppa gente).
How about you all? Pippi how's the pregnancy? rosa, are you still here? e ciao med!!!

Rosa · 01/09/2007 15:13

Hi Franca welcome back it sounds as if you had such a great time. I am still here but not for long going back to Italia on Tues and not happy about it at all !! How did teh house hunting in Milano go ? Have you made any more decisions yet ? DD has been so happy here and has 'blossomed' as a friend put it. I am hoping that she will continue to when we get back but she will not be happy with all the walking a mano which will be a must !
