9 minors. Turn in the round and reverse bay park
if it hand been reverse round a corner it might have been a different story!

I even went the wrong way once and still passed!

MrsSlowLearner · 30/08/2007 21:18

Well done ProjectIcarus!

i've just been out by myself.

It was both and . Soooo pleased when i zoomed into our hilly drive (in reverse) from our hilly street without a problem. Bloody drive has had me in tears before .

Come on Ladies - you can do it!

ProjectIcarusinhercar · 30/08/2007 21:55

I had about 40 hours of lessons. Wonder if that is a record?

MrsSlowLearner · 30/08/2007 22:21

I think i am probably very close to breaking that record ProjectIcarus.

I really don't know how i will ever cope with a test

Test at 13.33 today. My instructor is on holiday so having to do it in DH's car. Been driving around with him in it for last few days to get used to it, so just hoping I can hack the test in it. Cross your fingers for me folks!

electra · 01/09/2007 10:40

Good luck! I failed my second test last week

ForcesSweetheart · 01/09/2007 14:52

I PASSED!!!! Gawd knows how, as I stalled 3 or 4 times (lost count!), hit a kerb while turning left, forgot to put car into gear on hill start and had back tyre right on the line in my reversing into a bay. Third attempt, 17 years after my first one.

electra · 01/09/2007 19:43

Oh well done!! It's such a great hurdle to get over.

ProjectIcarusinhercar · 02/09/2007 19:05

DH bought an MGF. I had a go, it is v v nice with the hood down.

totaleclipse · 18/09/2007 19:10

I have my test in just under 2 weeks, am getting nervous now.

totaleclipse · 18/09/2007 19:12

ProjectIcarusinhercar

According to my instructor 40 hours driving is the average

totaleclipse · 01/10/2007 16:04

I PASSED!!!!!!!!!! with only 4 minors.

Boco · 01/10/2007 16:07

Congratulations!!

I've got my theory on Thursday. I just did a practice one on the computer. I failed.

totaleclipse · 01/10/2007 16:16

keep doing it over and over boco, it does all sink in eventually

mrsmarmalade · 09/10/2007 15:40

Hi, anyone still on this thread? Wanted to somewhere to vent my spleen - hope you all don't mind! I think I can beat everyone in that I've had about 70 hours of lessons AND switched to an automatic car because I was so hopeless with the gears, and I am STILL absolute crap. Got a practical test coming up in a couple of weeks and am nowhere near ready! My main problem is anticipation; I'm just about able to keep the damn car on the road without killing anyone, but when i have to make split-second decisions about whether to stop or go based on my position, the position of the cars behind me/coming the other way, parked vehicles and any stray pedestrians who are wandering into the road, etc, etc, my brain just seizes up. It's like doing a giant Rubicks cube.
Ooh, feel a bit better now that's off my chest. Sorry to be so negative, but I was truly rubbish today!

ibroughtcake · 09/10/2007 15:46

I'm still here, I'm still here!

70 hrs um yes that is quite alot, buuuttt it won't matter how many hours you've done when you pass your test!

I need to book my fifth test, but keep on putting it off.

Boco, how did you get on with your theory?

CatIsSleepy · 10/10/2007 20:32

ibroughtcake, i was wondering who you used to be...
get booking that test!

btw I had over 60 hours of lessons (just added them up LOL) plus lots of practice with dh in our car...

WELL DONE totaleclipse btw

ibroughtcake · 10/10/2007 20:34

Catissleepy, I went to book another test today, but I have also namechanged in real life and my new licence number didn't match the theory test number so I couldn't book it. I will have to call them tomorrow to sort it out.

So are you planning journeys in your head yet? I think I will drive to tesco everynight, for stuff we don't need just because I can!

CatIsSleepy · 10/10/2007 20:36

dh keeps saying I should drive somewhere on friday (my day off)...think I would rather not have dd in the car though the first time I'm out driving on my own!

ibroughtcake · 10/10/2007 20:42

I can understand that, just the thought of driving with DC in the car makes me nervous

hazeyjane · 10/10/2007 20:42

Glad I saw this thread, was starting to think I am the only one who seems to be taking forever to learn to drive (About 40 lessons, have just been told will need another 20 or so...) I put it down to the fact that my lessons keep getting interrupted by having babies (2 in the last 2 years). The thing is I hate it and dread each lesson, but so need to be able to drive, as am living in small village and need to be able to escape to places with coffee shops and people.Keep trying to put off lessons, but think I will have to be brave.

Boco · 10/10/2007 20:44

Oh me too hazeyjane - small village, stranded, utterly crap at lessons - keep fizzling out after initial push. I've had 30 lessons and i feel back to square one but with no cash. [bangs on sides of village and howls let me out]

CatIsSleepy · 10/10/2007 20:49

Boco you've been cursed with a weirdy instructor though

can you practice with your dh/dp? helped me alot I think (would probably have needed another 60 hours of lessons otherwise I'm sure)
