I saw a woman in the Science Museum today, who really could only be described as having "let herself go"

Grey streaky "hanging" hair, huge arse and fat tum in grey tracky bottoms, footglove shoes, shapeless burgundy tunic top and hanging tits. She really looked like she had given up on life. In contrast, she had three dear little, divinely trendily dressed girls with her. She had obviously put a lot of thought and effort into what they were going to wear (down to the very funky hat one of them was wearing) but hadn't even spent five minutes on herself.

Why?

Well considering we have had crocs, footgloves, wedges, heels and birks, I'm just waiting for the fashion police to hound me down, as I'm sat here in Uggs!

ViscountessLittleLapin · 18/04/2007 11:51

Uggs!

but it's so HOT!

foxybrown · 18/04/2007 11:52

love uggs

Spidermama · 18/04/2007 11:53

NormaSnorks wears footgloves. Pass it on.

Mhamai · 18/04/2007 11:54

I know but I was wearing pumps yesterday that squeezed the bejaysus out of my crubes and I'm paying for it today!

expatinscotland · 18/04/2007 11:55

Uggs, footgloves, Croc's, the new porn shoes.

Mhamai · 18/04/2007 11:56

Oh no expat, the patent electric blue high heels I bought last week, now there's fu*k me shoes with a capital F!

melsy · 18/04/2007 11:57

for goodness sake Xenia , why do you think my ONLY interest is buggies ? I have many interests , but Im not going to list them here and fall into the poor me , as you clearly like being the interrogator / intimidator.

If you may be showed a little interest in others and not expressing your superior self to us , then may be you would find that ALL of us has a story or a USP. (Yes I know all the city/high flying career jargon, been there done that).

I dont feel there is A look we have to adhere too, its just fun to wear some of those things, but then with your statement your kind of agreeing with most sentiments here , in that we should just dress and look how we want???

Also whilst Im at it , its fun to enjoy/discuss/experience all aspects of life, not just one. So yes some days food , some days dresses, some days philosophy , politics, buggies , Fiorenze Art, Spritual life ad finitum, OOH and may be all in one day, get that . You get me drift.

expatinscotland · 18/04/2007 11:58

Yes, but Mhamai, just make sure you don't kill it all with the 'dull as ditchwater' pillow talk.

You know, they all want to have in-depth discussions about pressing world issues afterwards.

melsy · 18/04/2007 11:58

aqhh fgs melsy , u just fell into the trapp of justification.

melsy · 18/04/2007 12:00

oh yes danae , Id love a sling LOVE, but I have a very weak back and that weight on me would not be good right now. My pelvis pivots were it shouldnt. Also Id drive yer half witty trying to decide on that one too!!!!!

Mhamai · 18/04/2007 12:01

They are usually too busy snoring their brains out from the killer sex to discuss anything

expatinscotland · 18/04/2007 12:03

No, doubt, Mhamai!

'Mmm. Was that good for you, baby?'

'Yeah.'

'K, then.'

Zzzzzzz.

Mhamai · 18/04/2007 12:04

Right on expat! You got it in one!

expatinscotland · 18/04/2007 12:06

Believe you me, if I had one who tried to talk politics afterwards, he'd be doing it as I put on my clothes to bolt out the door, thinking, 'Can't wait to tell all my friends about this utter weirdo I just bagged! Mistake No. . . .'

Mhamai · 18/04/2007 12:07

I think I'm a gay man trapped in a woman's body because I'm normally the one that falls asleep first!

I think there are various views. If a person is happy and doesn't care how they look then there's no need for them to follow the herd in staying slim and dyeing hair. It's refreshing they can rise above all that consumerist pressure although by doing up the children they're kind of showing their ambiguity over it - either you buy out of all this and spend money on things that count or you dress your children out of Prada/Boden or whatever rather than Oxfam but to do it to the chidlren and not you is a bit strange.

If the way that person dresses reflects her exhaustion /depression then that's may be not so good.

If she'd been wearing a burkha so as not to be judged on her appearance perhaps she'd be happier.

chocolateface · 18/04/2007 12:22

NormaSnorks, your footgloves offend me.

Mhamai · 18/04/2007 12:28

Xenia, tell us a joke! Go onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!
