In light of the tragic events that happened here this week I feel so helpless and so I thought if I could just bring the subject up and get you all to check then at least I feel I would have done something!

expat, glad it was nothing more serious . All the more reason for everyone to go out and get their alarms sorted now.

Glad you had the alarm and got it sorted, expat. Have checked mine.

expatinscotland · 27/03/2007 20:55

I went to boil an egg for my lunch at work. Turned the wrong burner on. A tea towel was on the ring I turned on - it's an electric cooker with the rings that don't turn colours when they heat up.

Was ironing happily when the smoke alarm went off.

I threw a wet blanket on it, but the smoke was intense and the fire brigade had to come out.

We had to take the girls out of bed and DD1 got a fright from that, but DD1 got over it when the neighbour gave her hot chocolate and a crumpet, which DD2 nibbled on.

staceym11 · 27/03/2007 20:59

expat dh is always moaning at me not to leave tea towels on the hob, but thankfully ours is gas so cant really light it and not realise iykwim

McCadburysDreamyegg · 27/03/2007 22:09

My kitchen was a bit of a mess. I took yesterday off and spent most of the day cleaning it, as DH is home days and could look after the girls - and DD1 was in nursery.

It SUCKED.

But it could have been much worse without that fire alarm.

McCadburysDreamyegg · 27/03/2007 22:59

Oh expat it soooo could have been

I must have missed something altogether??

I have to admit, mine doesnt even have batteries in it, because it kept going off while I cooked. WHat happened?

McCadburysDreamyegg · 27/03/2007 23:04

We lost a family last week Kelly, a father and his 2 children in a house fire - our whole community has been rocked. Please check your fire alarms

Kelly1978 · 27/03/2007 23:19

Have you had a nice day?

jellybellynally · 28/03/2007 00:23

ta for birthday wishes. i have never done a car boot sale. maybe i should. i would probably get more money from it.
how are you tonight anyway???? how was your day?

Kelly1978 · 28/03/2007 00:26

happy borthday nally!

agree with the car boot suggestion, just depends if you want to get up at the crack of sawn on a sunday Def make more money though.

Hillary · 28/03/2007 00:28

Ooh yes I love dong car boot sales, I usually get about £200-£300 for my dd's clothes etc.. not bad for 4 hours work. Have you searched out the Vicks yet?

I have my mum comming tomorrow so manic cleaning today, built a pen for the pup & spent £80 on new veg bushes for garden. my toddler is comming home tomorrow too, i miss her sooooo much.

If you ever fancy doing a car boot sale, i'l do one with you, show you how its done, they are on every week all summer and Basildon have a Giant one. Just let me know

jellybellynally · 28/03/2007 00:31

Hillary · 28/03/2007 00:37

My dd1's been at my mums because I was poisoned and needed the rest so was left with dd2 (who sleeps most of the time), Your're in Chelmsford arnt you? I'm in Southend so your're not that far away, I'm doing mile for maude so we cant be far apart there's a Giant car boot sale on I think Thursdays in Basildon along the A127 The programe "Car Booty" was there a little while ago, probably best to wait a few weeks until the weather is nice then it brings more people out.

jellybellynally · 28/03/2007 00:40

Are you doing the Colchester Mile for Maude???
