In light of the tragic events that happened here this week I feel so helpless and so I thought if I could just bring the subject up and get you all to check then at least I feel I would have done something!

was very sorry to read what happened in your community...

we had our fire alarms fitted by the fire brigade and they did lots of fire safety stuff with us and DS got to sit in the fire engine....

sure it has been said..but the fire brigade will come out and fit fire alarms for free and in the most suitable places in your home.....

DD1 (5yo) checks ours every Sunday evening before bathtime. She's very worried about house fires and this is how we help her (and ourselves).

We also have boilers/chimneys/aga/gas tanks etc checked every year too.

Ours are wired in too, but what a tragedy for that poor family. I can't begin to imagine the pain that mum is in.

Something similar happened when I lived with Mum, local woman lost her DH and youngest child because of a lack of alarms.

We're fortunate- the person who, lived here before us was a head of the local Fire Brigade ofr something, but we still check.
