zombie - glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.

Don't overdo things.

ikl - I really envy you having GG before you. I loved The Quiet American & Our Man in Havanna

Today I have continued to shuffle along.

Craven Arms for brekkie, emergency shop (bread & milk) and trip to the recycling centre. Old microwave has well and truly gone to microwave heaven and has been laid to rest.

I came home. Put the shopping away, moved laundry from the washer to the drier, brought all the washing on the line in. I finally settled down with a cup of coffee when the door bell rang. It was my neighbour who "does" the garden for me. We agreed he would come on Thursday and mow the lawn. I also asked him to rake over the veg patch and remove the weeds and grass that are starting to come through. He said he would use weed killer instead. I said NO weed killer on the veg patch. He announced he had already used RoundUp on it earlier. But it was OK. He had rung the manufacturer and they assured him there was no danger to the cats (he does have permission to use it on the gravel paths and parking area) and it was harmless to everything except the plants it had been sprayed on. Well, they WOULD say that wouldn't they. We argued. I came within a hairsbreadth of telling him to FOTTFSOFAWHGTFOSM. I settled for telling him to just stay away from the veg patch and I'd do it myself. I need the fresh air anyway...

Tomorrow's list:

Remove weeds from the veg patch while it's still a teeny tiny job.

Check the Parish Newsletter for gardeners / ask reliabe neighbour for advice / recommendations.

Book haircut.

Book massage. (I soooo need to relax.)

Book cats into camp for a few days so I can do some deep cleaning without them crapping on my efforts.

Fit in laundry loads around the above.

Fit in more kitchen organisation. (I'm finding this very satisfying.

Drink gallons of coffee. Well, litres at least.

Scream as required.

Hi Zombie, hope you soon sort out all the gardening problems. I'm sure the zombie cats will enjoy a few days holiday and then you can get on with things. Please don't overdo things, you need to be rested and relaxed when your friend comes. How long will she/ he be staying with you ?

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 16/03/2016 20:58

Fatty your DS is ace. What a response from a 7 year old.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 16/03/2016 21:10

You are a whirlwind wonder Zombie! I don't get half that domestic stuf done on a weekend day, and I am not in the middle of chemo! I agree with mummylin, please make sure you don't overdo things. Who is your friend coming to stay? That sounds nice.

I meant what I said on the meet-up thread by the way! You would be welcomed with the widest of wide open arms to stay at mine for the London meet-up. And with DH already living in Canada, you would just have my quite lovely if I do say so myself DDs, our lovely au pair and of course moi to contend with Smile I do understand the awfulness of side effects and after effects and during-effects (if that's even a thing) so not the tiniest iota of pressure though.

I have just been having the busiest time lately and tonight was no different. It is SO nice to be finally on the sofa MNing with all my virtual friends. Home from work at 6.30, dinner, Skype my mum, clean up after dinner, give DD1 a ticking off for not helping clean up after dinner broken record order a few birthday presents on Amazon for various upcoming parties, set up beds / find clean towels / locate pillows / sleeping bags etc for DBro, DSIL and DNephews who are arriving tomorrow (YAY!!) unblock drain in bathroom (GROSS), have shower, put DD2 to bed, wrap presents for DNephews (Pokemon, they have one-track minds and will talk of nothing else), run dishwasher, pour a glass of squash (should be wine) and log in. Aaaaaahhhhh.

Sorry for the rambling, I am finding it very therapeutic. DH wonders why I don't say "I miss you" to him more. I don't have bloody time to miss him!!!

Mummylin · 16/03/2016 21:22

Oh my god hearts I feel worn out just reading your list of things to do

FattyNinjaOwl · 16/03/2016 22:31

zombie just echoing the others, don't wear yourself out.
hearts your list sounds exhausting. And DS1 is brilliant. He has such a sharp mind, he's really on the ball. But like all 7 year olds can be a bit of a divvy at times. Grin
Today I braved my first ever toddler group....
I tried to talk to people (despite not being very sociable) bug they didn't seem to want to talk after they realised DD and DS2 were both mine. I don't know if it was the age difference (19 months between them) or the size...
Or if I just repel people because I'm strange...

Well done braving a toddler group NinjaOwl, they are far more daunting than a MN meetup!

Very odd reaction you got, I would have been more interested to talk to you, with two children, especially if you were strange Smile

Persevere, there's so much scope for misunderstanding with people being distracted, and/or knackered, and/or hormonal.

FattyNinjaOwl · 16/03/2016 23:22

I'm going to give it another chance. The kids enjoyed it. And I'm quite happy to sit in a corner while they wreak havoc somewhere that isnt home Grin

LuisSuarezTeeth · 16/03/2016 23:23

Yo Zombie. I only pop in every now and then but I'm always following. Love and best wishes Smile

magimedi · 17/03/2016 17:37

Ignore moi at your peril, zombie Grin

After all I am the keeper of the gin!

FattyNinja Your DCs are adorable - please give them a big hug from me.

iklboo · 17/03/2016 17:54

I'm worn out reading all that. Luckily DH has suggested going out for tapas & wine at out local bistro this lovely spring evening. We've only been promising ourselves we'd do this for the last two years (since moving to naice area).

iklboo · 18/03/2016 18:42

Hope all is well with you today Zombie.

OMG!! OMG!! OMG!!

DH has signed me up for a gin subscription! £25 a month & you get 4 X 50ml different gins & stuff to go with them. Really looking forward to box 1. Counting down to Gin Fest next week already.

magimedi · 18/03/2016 22:51

Mummylin · 20/03/2016 01:46

Hope everything is going well for you Zombie, not long now until your friend arrives. I would think you must have everything ready now as you have been so busy preparing over the last couple of weeks. Are zombie cats still away ?

IamtheZombie · 21/03/2016 15:44

Afternoon Phalanx.

Zombie has continued to shuffle along. I've cleared a lot of crap. There is more to be cleared. I relented and allowed the ZombieCats to stay at home.

I have just placed an emergency order for heating oil. I'm nearly down to my last 100 litres.

A small sinkhole has also appeared in front of the house. Sigh.

Mummylin · 21/03/2016 22:23

Oh goodness Zombie, your not going to disappear into space are you ? Hope your house is away from your house !
I hope the zombiecats are being good for you now you let them stay at home Grin
Only another couple of days and you will have done company for a while, I'm sure you will have a great time catching up on everything, and how nice to have company for a while
Hope you are feeling ok, and that your oil comes soon !

IamtheZombie · 21/03/2016 22:50

I hope not, Mummy!!

My very, very nice retired builder neighbour is popping around in the morning to have a good look at it for me. I trust him with the ZombieCats when I'm away and I trust his advice on all matters building related.

FattyNinjaOwl · 22/03/2016 00:25

Hope your house is away from your house !
lin this made me giggle.
zombie hopefully it's easily fixed.

Mummylin · 22/03/2016 00:29

Oops ! Grin I knew what I meant ! Don't let your gardener stand by the edge Zombie !!

Mummylin · 22/03/2016 00:30

God what is the matter with me tonight, I see it's the builder not the gardener !!

Fiderer · 22/03/2016 07:58

What is it with the all the sinkholes in the UK? Hope you get it sorted. Blimey as if you didn't have enough to deal with.

The pics I sent you of FidBoy2 & FidGirl keep bouncing back from your email account. Wouldn't have thought they were too big as they came from my phone - but will play around later.

I have time as it's the hols. Hurrah & hurray Grin

IamtheZombie · 22/03/2016 12:14

Well feckity feck.

There will be excavations required to determine the extent of the potential sinkhole. I had suspected that would be the case.

Backstory: A property developer bought this house from the local estate in 1970. During renovation works a pit (which may be as large as 10' x 10') with a tunnel leading from it down the garden was discovered. My lovely builder neighbour saw this at the time. He advised the developer to properly fill the pit in. It now appears the developer may have just boarded the pit over and put soil on top of that. Timber has rotted over 45+ years and is now collapsing.

Picture 1 shows the original hole.

Picture 2 shows the original hole to the left plus a test hole to the right with Tinkerbelle in the foreground.

Picture 3 shows proximity to front of house.
