I'm a little rusty myself as well obs, but there is a party that Pierre goes to early on that is rather lively - with drunken bets/dares & Dolokov is there being all daredevil. Can't remember enough of the book to know whether that is a necessary scene or not. Agree that the soiree scene you mention is a big one though - would make a very good opening scene

Maybe we will get to see Dolokhov with Nikolai, Dolokhov at war, Dolokhov at the party, and then Dolokhov at the duel, all within parts 1 and 2 then?

Hello all! I'm bored. I have lots of jobs I want to do, but can't find the motivation. I like Obs' idea of a siesta, but every time I do that the phone or doorbell rings, or I get called to do something. I was going for a walk but now it's pissing down.

I don't really like New Year's Eve, you don't know what you're welcoming in, so we don't go out, but we do stay up to watch the fireworks on TV. Is it o'clock yet?
