I'm hiding in the utility to get some peace and quiet. If it isnt the DC who want / need something then it is DH
Our utility is a bit of a shit-tip / bike store but it has a conservatory style roof (AMAZING drying powers outwith the winter Badds - I have indoor lines rigged up) so it's lovely and warm and sunny. I have coffee, red velvet cake and wenches . The feckers will hopefully never find me.
Hmm Dan Snow eh Anne? He is quite witty, tall and has a very posh accent. Not unlike a certain musketeer. I most certainly would. I liked the series he did with his Dad on battlefields too. In fact, I'd probably have fancied his Dad 20 years ago too. Will look it up on iPlayer. I'm also enjoying the new BBC4 series on the Plantagenets, though DH fell asleep in the middle of the last one so it may not be for everyone.
If you are thinking of doing a few sites Anne I'd recommend English Heritage family membership. It's a bit of an initial outlay but you only need to do a couple of the bigger sites as a family and it pays for itself. It also gives you half price in Cadw (Wales) and Historic Scotland in the first year and then free entry the following year. We use ours loads up here, especially in the school holidays. Bung a picnic and some dressing up clothes in the car and either head somewhere new or back to one of the nearby ones. Kids run feral and we sit on picnic blanket ignoring them keeping an eye out and eating ice cream. There are quite often events or treasure hunts on to keep them interested.
Hmm, sun has gone in, think it might be about to hailstone again. Took the DC to the park with bikes this morning and it chucked them at us half way round. Bloody weather.
Hope sick and down wenches feel better soon. It's Poldark later so hoping for some shirtless action to go with the inevitable cliffhanger. I read the books (though ages / eons ago) so I know what's coming.
