Sparks...I thought series 2 was poor tbh.
It just differed so much from series 1, and not in a good way.
Seemed to me the new timelsot was just an excuse for more "adult" storylines (which always involved violence against women and female nudity)
I have forebodings about series 3.... I really do :(
It could go either way IMO.

Totally agree with mrsb that the reasons for AH leaving won't be the stated reasons .

mouse, potty training was the only thing my otherwise good health visitor was crap at advising on. I followed all the general advice to 'wait until they show signs that they are ready' with ds, but when he got to 3.5 y.o. & was still in nappies she said 'oh you must've missed the signs' FFS . Many of the 'potty trained' toddlers are not properly potty trained at all - regular accidents, especially in new environments, and an inability to hold on at all resulting in the parents following them round with a potty or costantly rushing them to a toilet in a panic. When they're properly ready it's much easier, calmer & quicker.

You know your child better than the hv does. If you think he's not ready, I'll put money on you being right rather than her

If the show was reliably historically accurate he'd have more of a point, but it was also the way it was done - the sexual violence was quite salacious I thought, if they really wanted it in they could've done it differently. Hopes series 3 is more like series 1. Doesn't hold out too much hope.

I think it says it all about Adrian that he thinks series 2 was good. he seriously doesn't get why we ALL loved series 1, does he?

I really am starting to think he is a bit of a knob.

I didn't think s2 was shite. I think they got some things wrong - they lost too much humour & I found Rochefort a somewhat pantomime villain compared to the Cardinal. But I enjoyed the less episodic nature of the series & I found the plots less predictable, I was genuinely excited about what would happen in the last few episodes.

The sexual violence/exploitation can FTFO though. I am worried about this getting worse in s3 if they pander to the US.

I don't think it was as good as S1 but Imo it was far from utter shite. I still enjoyed watching it every week.

And those last 2 eps were To. Die. For. No series with those in them can be described as shite. Yes they got stuff wrong, yes they didn't quite realise what it was that their main audience loved about S1 - but I think if any of us really though it was beyond crap, we wouldn't be waaaaaaayyy too excited about there being a S3, surely?

Caught up with end of last thread. Yes to ice cream parlour, yes to what wenches said for Mouse and how extremely cute ToddlerMouse is, but thanks to Helen for interview summary, bye Adrian, I enjoyed S2 but not as much as S1. Can't remember much else as brain is fried after utterly shite few days at work.

That picture of Santi is making me feel a whole lot better though

My thoughts exactly about S2 Fancy. I really enjoyed ep 5 - except that disgusting hunting lodge scene, ep 7 with the Swedish princess and the last 2 episodes which where awesome

sparks another vote for here for not shite. I think the tx over 14 weeks instead of 10 really shafted the viewing experience however. Also wish the hadn't edited out as much humour as Adrian intimated they had to keep the 'mood balance'.
