Hi

OP posts:
Tobleronechoc · 22/07/2006 16:19

hes 7 and a fair while

Tobleronechoc · 22/07/2006 16:29

elisabeth smith get loads of work, they are always well represented at castings and jobs ive been to. If your friends kid didnt get the job from teh casting then that is not the agencies fault. They agency can only submit a child to the client and it is up to them to choose them. To be honest I have only ever seen one or two UA kids at castings since my DS has been doing this.

I think people should remember that with whoever they go with (as long as they are a legit agency!!) if the clients dont choose their kid it is not the agencies fault and you will always get parents that are going to be unhappy.

There are loads of great agencies and they all have over 200 kids on their books. There is only so much work out there so all those hundreds of kids across the UK cannot possibly be all working every month. THat is unrealistic to expect. It should be treated as a hobby and if you get work its a bonus. Thats what we did so I was under no illusions when we started this. He has had regular work, but we did have one time where we had nothing and no contact at all for nearly 4 months.

ellesmum · 22/07/2006 16:53

i agree with you but what i dont understand is why do the old agencies charge you so much for the privilages of being on their books, the new agencies charge low or no fees and the kids get just as much work as say kids from elisabeth smith.

i agree that there is no guarentee for work what ever agency u choose.

Tobleronechoc · 22/07/2006 17:08

I think it is fair to expect to pay to be with a great agency and if they charge and a parent doesn't want to pay then that is their look out. The new agencies cannot possibly expect to charge a fee in line with those more established becasuae parents would rather pay an established agency the money than one that is getting off the ground, I would have thought (well I would for sure!) I dont really see how a newer agency can be getting as much work as those like ES, BB etc, most of those large ones have more than 4 staff, multiple phone lines and the smaller and newer ones normally have one person working there, one phone line and most work from home.

ellesmum · 22/07/2006 17:14

would you say kids london are a new agency then? my daughters just been sighned by them would u say bruce and brown are better than kids in the experience u have had?

Tobleronechoc · 22/07/2006 17:26

i wouldnt say anyone is better than anyone else, only the longer established are a safer bet, in my experience. Im not qualified to say who is better than who, but I do know who I see at castings and its not any of the small agencies and the newer ones I see less than the older agencies.

Tobleronechoc · 22/07/2006 17:31

my experience only goes as far as KL and I find them great. Other people find their agencies good for them, so each to their own. Just sharing my experiences

julie4travel · 22/07/2006 17:37

lindic- fingers crossed on b and b
my friend been with bubblegum for 5 years. she might let me get your email for her to contact you if you need more info- she has three kids with them. when did you sibmit b and b photos , i am wondering if they have a backlog at present

julie4travel · 22/07/2006 17:38

ps i agreee the longer established ones are the better bet so people don't loose any money like people did with inspired and other agents.

Tobleronechoc · 22/07/2006 18:04

that was terrible about inspired kids, anyone heard if anything has happened. Surely its theft, or fraud or something. Has anyone on here that lost money with them reported them to the police at all?

tavalana · 22/07/2006 18:21

there are too many agencies out there and i'm sure you will find people that love and people that hate them all but i still don't think that agencies should be considered good or bad simply based on how long ago they've been running, my sons are with bruce and brown and i've seen kids from kids london, urban angels, norrie carr, elisabeth smith and alphabet kids at most castings, can't say anything about them because my only experience is with bruce and brown but i know they exist and obviously get work or castings for their kids.
I'm now looking for an agency for my eldest and can't decide who to go with.

Tobleronechoc · 22/07/2006 18:32

common sense would tell you that those that have been going years and are legitimate would have larger client lists than the others. That is a simple fact with any company and not just limited to model agencies. If one person mans a phone in an office then how can they deal with 20 jobs in one day. That would be impossible. All those licences to process for every job, I dont think so (unless the owner is an octopus, there are simply not enough hours in the day and the clients could not get through. Larger companies can cope with larger workloads, smaller ones therefore can only get smalled workloads, or not deal with them.

Also, there is the risk factor like julie4travel pointed out, which has been proven time and time again.

Tobleronechoc · 22/07/2006 18:47

can i say that if you have seen those agencies kids at castings then why dont you apply to join one of them? surely that is more advisable than asking advice off strangers on a chatroom? You may be looking for help on choosing but surely you can trust your own eyes? That would make sense to me anyway

ellesmum · 22/07/2006 19:26

what happened to inspired kids ??????????????????

julie4travel · 22/07/2006 19:34

ellesmum- inspired kids basically did a bit of a disappearing act after lots of people had signed up with them. I am lucky they didn't choose my two as i could have gone with them, their website was good. they emailed people saying moving offices or something yet don't think they went anywhere. some people on here (old threads) found out their place of residence and mobile numbers and were taking it into their own hands or taking it further! i only know that from teh previous threads. people were very angry which i totally understand!

Tobleronechoc · 22/07/2006 19:38

they accepted loads on their books at over £100 a go, then just closed up and disappeared with everyones money!! No explanation or nothing. One of the mums I met at a casting (didnt get the casting thru inspired though!!)went down their offices and it was all cleared out. Their website is still on but their phone numbers just ring and divert to another number thats cut off.

right palava

ellesmum · 22/07/2006 19:39

thats terrible, how long were they up and running 4?

Tobleronechoc · 22/07/2006 19:46

from what she said about a year of so..they must have earned loads. She went to have photos done and paid over £100 to join on the day and they were doing like 3 or 4 an hour minimum and all day long. Their offices were also a studio.

Tobleronechoc · 22/07/2006 19:49

im just glad my ds was with an agency and i didnt apply to them. The website looks really good.

ellesmum · 22/07/2006 19:52

what is their website adress would be interesting to look at

Tobleronechoc · 22/07/2006 19:55

its either inspired-kids, or inspired-models and .com or .co.uk definately one of those but not sure. will have a look in a minute, just going to have dinner and be back after

julie4travel · 22/07/2006 19:58

think it was inspired-kids.co.uk or something like that

out of everyone waiting for b and b replies how long have you been waiting. i re submitted my ds pictures before i go with one of the otehrs (purely costing reason and sole rep thing that i am thinking of) i dont want to chase just wondered how long the waiting time is roughly at present

julie4travel · 22/07/2006 19:59

tobleronechoc- who are you with again? my memory is terrible

mimi hows your hangover?

strawb- any luck on castings / jobs since i spoke to u last?

ellesmum · 22/07/2006 20:05

well ive been waiting for a reply for almost 3 weeks now, i spoke to the owner and she said it takes a while for them to decide as they are free to join and they have to be really sure. but kids london have the same principle and they got back 2 me within a week and a half. a few days later i emailed the owner of BandB and she said i would have to wait and if i couldnt wait she could send my pictures back to me!!! its difficult cos your trying to make a really important decision on which agency u want to have your child with and you have to wait on one agency to get back to u. they are prob just really busy but still annoying.

Tobleronechoc · 22/07/2006 20:15
