Morning sha11- yes it is by her. I am glad i brought it before signing my ds with an agency , it gave me the ins and outs of modelling , plus what to expect. Before my ds first shoot I re read all the info about whos who at castings etc. I would say if your child has already been a while doing modelling maybe not much info can be gained from it yet for first timers like i was great.

I saw on another website that there is a new dvd released on the subject called the baby and modelling guide (its on the www.albamodel.info) I haven't brought that yet I am curious. Has anyone else brought it and what do they think? Is it worth a buy

cyan · 06/07/2006 11:30

cyan · 06/07/2006 11:31

oh allie bongo if you see this thanks i received the cheque last week!!! how funny it must have got lost!

mrratty · 06/07/2006 11:39

I saw my daughter in Junior magazine this morning, it was really exciting!

housemum · 06/07/2006 12:01

mrratty, I'd love to see my dd in Junior - their photos are gorgeous! But I'm not sure that they use Norrie Carr which is who we're with - they had an article about modelling a few months back and they didn't put them in their list. Mine is in Mother & Baby this month

AllieBongo · 06/07/2006 12:06

hurrah! what a pile of shite royal mail are.. not sure where i've put the sparkley make up. surrounded by boxes and it's in one of them

lindac · 06/07/2006 12:10

Thanks for you info
i have heard models direct is a scam has anybody else heard this ?
i seem to get the best feed back on bizzykidz i have not realy heard much on childsplay so any info would be great! so out of the 3 offers i might take up bizzykidz unless anybody knows any reason not to x

AllieBongo · 06/07/2006 12:11

childsplay are nice, don't seem to get much work that i've seen lately and are v expensive to join. we went with MOT, had 2 calls this week for castings and no cost to join!

julie4travel · 06/07/2006 12:22

lindac- have you tried other agencies, from reading past modelling threads a lot of people seem happy with Kids London, Mot, Bubblegum, Urban Angels, Bruce and Brown to name a few and I think they don't charge a lot. Unfortuatley they said no to my kids yet I did try them. I am meeting Truly Scrumptious in a couple of weeks for assesment as they have good feedback although I don't personally know anyone with them. If TS don't take my little ones from the assesment I am going with Norrie Carr which have offered my ds a place. That is purely my personal choice though as I have spent a lot of time ploughing through the options.

Good Luck

housemum · 06/07/2006 12:23

Child models seem to go through phases - when dd was just over 2 we had 3 castings in 2 weeks, 2 of which led to jobs. But in last year we have had hardly anything. To be fair to her agency, they sent through the renewal forms and did say that you should bear in mind that the 2-4 year old age group is quite hard to find work for, so you should consider this before renewing. We did renew anyway, Norrie Carr are pretty reasonable from what I have seen - £110 to renew including the photoshoot, copies of pictures £6 each for A5, no model book as they just use their website.

julie4travel · 06/07/2006 12:24

lindac- it says this on albas website on models direct- yet i couldn't find the report yet i was being quick.

Models Direct ? named & shamed by Mail on Sunday Elle Magazine and BBC Watchdog.

yackertyyack · 06/07/2006 12:35

tinkerbellchelle · 06/07/2006 16:09

cyan > no have you?

beacon · 06/07/2006 16:49

Hello all. I posted a few days ago asking if anyone's LO had gone to the casting for the Splat TV ad being filmed at my house. They were interested in my DS, but he's too young and wouldn't take any direction.

Only one person said her 6 year old ds had gone to the casting, but I'm not sure if he was chosen. I think they may have gone with a little Chinese or Japanese girl...?

Anyway if it's your LO let me know and I'll say hello on the day.

mythumbelinas · 06/07/2006 17:05

beacon, when is it for? i know my friend's dds have had lots of things recently .. one of them should be doing something tomorrow

beacon · 06/07/2006 17:19

They're filming next Wednesday here, but I think there are 3 other locations, including a campsite!

They're filming in our kitchen with a mother and child.

mythumbelinas · 06/07/2006 17:21

sorry, i don't know then .. sounds v exciting!!

littlemadam · 06/07/2006 17:39

Hi Beacon, looked to see if you had any more news! B and B still haven't been told who is in, and I think they had four at the recall, they were casting for all the bits. We had to get a licence though for Monday, on a farm between London and Oxford (not you?)!!

Well done all on your castings, Mimi will look out for the ad, and Pimms, so sorry about your DS, I'm sure the scar will fade very quickly, have you tried those plaster type things that are meant to reduce scarring?? In any event sure it won't matter

beacon · 06/07/2006 17:43

Little >> I think the farm is going to be the campsite bit. Fingers still crossed your DS gets it!

littlemadam · 06/07/2006 17:50

Ah, at the audition he had to pretend to put wellies on and crawl in and out of a tent, so that would make sense. Prob won't get it, he has no experience, and I thought he was really brave going into a room on his own in front of lots of strange people and cameras, and acting - I sure couldn't!! Did have lure of Hamleys tho!!
Hope your filming goes well, what a great idea!

julie4travel · 06/07/2006 18:28

littlemadam- whats the plaster type things you are referring too- does that help scars heal? My daughter has a scar and I would do anything for it to heal as quick as possible

littlemadam · 06/07/2006 18:36

Julie4>>I've seen adverts for them, they are elastoplast scar reduction patches, they are for sale on Boots.com, hope that is of some help!
