Hi

OP posts:
perfumelady · 14/07/2006 14:26

hi everyone hope your all well and being kept nice and busy on the modelling front.

strawberry and julie4travel what are the heights of your lo's? i only ask cause i know of something going but they have to be of a certain height.

i think the acting side is a lot harder than the modelling, i know of a few people that are on cs's books and they get loads of auditions but i also know of quite a few who haven't had any yet, if i was you guys i wouldn't worry to much maybe there isn't much around at the moment and cs is well established so if any major film needs casting she will be briefed and if your kids fit the description they will be called to audition, my dd has been to half a dozen acting auditions in the last few months but they have been from me sourcing them out my self the 1st four she went to she didn't get any where and you start to doubt there ability there is a lot more rejection in the acting side and they pesonally have to deal with it, at least with the modelling they don't get told there and then so they have forgotten about it by the time the no comes through and then you don't have to tell them. the last two auditions she went to she got both of them and it is true what a lot of people say as soon as you start getting roles more and more seem to comes after that, i really think it's a lot to do with the fact that the confidence builds after each audition i really have noticed a huge differance with dd since her very 1st audition. we are still unsure which agency to put her with, we have an appointment with carole at the end of august but i was also looking into the new one that was posted on napm, purely talent, what are your initial views on this new agency? would love to know what you think , if you'd rather pm me then its [email protected] sorry that was a really long post.

What job do you know that's going perfume lady???

julie4travel · 14/07/2006 15:28

hi perfume- hope you are well

My dd is small 45" when i last measure him, strawbs dd is bigger than my dd. i presume three year olds are not being considered for the thing you know about?

I will have a nose at that agency and see what i think (even though i am no expert!)
melodis - i literally tried them all for my ds, not as many for my dd . from kids london, mot bubblegum, elliott brown, ts, norrie carr, most of them really. i din't book appointments with all of the accepted ones. only nc and ts and cs management

i stalled scallywags renewal as we were moving, ak i said i would be in contact after ts appointment, same as debbie mcgee. childs play i didn't book or rascals (not for any particular reason though) teh norwich ones like sandra reynolds i decided against as tehy were out of london so was worried on the work.

Marne · 14/07/2006 15:40

Not sure if we are going to Debbie Mcgees road show, Her agencie is the first one to show any intrest in dd1, all the others say we live to far away from london, Debbie Mcgee is based in Bristol which is a bit closer to us.
Im realy not sure what to do as we are new to all this,

Any advice please?

mrratty · 14/07/2006 15:56

I imagine that Debbie is going to invite everyone to her roadshow as she does not want a poor turn out.
I personally am not impressed by what I have seen on her website and I also wonder if she is going to be laughed at within the industry. It's also ot very clear to me whether she is a model or talent agency as she calls it a model agency but is asking to see talented people at the roadshow. I really cynical, hopefully I will be proved wrong.

strawberrymilkshake · 14/07/2006 15:58

julie4travel · 14/07/2006 17:11

strawb- carole just called for a castinvg next week , small feature film so fingers crossed

perfumelady · 14/07/2006 17:19

hi can't stop for long as i have to go and watch the girls stagecoach show but will speak more later. it's for a film but you have to be between 3 ft and no taller than 4ft my dd was over by 1 inch. i have details of another audition for a all childrens cast musical feature film, auditions have already taken place in quite a few towns but they still have birmingham, london ,bournmouth and more in southampton to come if your interested email me and i'll give you all the web site details. but i won't be able to reply til later on tonight.

strawberrymilkshake · 14/07/2006 17:22

Julie >> how exciting, good luck, I have just told dd and she told me to tell you to tell your ds good luck, bless him.

Perfume >> thank you for that. I would be interested in finding out some details about it thanks.

mrratty · 14/07/2006 17:54

Julie - Good luck for your son, it sounds really exciting.
Hopefully it will lead onto more!

julie4travel · 14/07/2006 17:54

thanks strawb- fingers crossed

just booked our train tickets

will let u know how it goes

rupertbear · 14/07/2006 19:56

strawberry - purely talent have just started up and dont have a website yet from what i can seee. The woman who has started it up says she doesnt charge but then says £40 for admin costs and she can do photos too that cost again. She put on the advert that i saw that she has 17 yeras exp in industry but never heard of her? Then one person said they live in scotland and was she too far and the owner said no, send your details in i get clietns in that area. That is dubious. London is the main area as we all know so taking someone from scotland would be only for the money and not for what the child could offer them for clietns.

knowing what i know about the advertising and commercial side of things, from clients i have worked with, new agencies like this do not supply quality artists and dont last 5 minutes. The vibe i get from it is that she is trying to start something up and earn money doing it, hasnt got clients yet (or she would have listed them) and if it does get off the ground then will be in competition with the bigger/more well known agencys and longer established so wont get too far. She problalby doesnt even know what a licence is if the truth beknown.

Just sounds like a mini debbie magee thing to me i think?? could be wrong but most likely not.

mrratty · 14/07/2006 19:59

rupertbear - just being nosey, what experience do you have?

rupertbear · 14/07/2006 20:33

sorry, was having my tea. I am a designer, worked in advertising for 15 years and now work with a director who was freelance and now set up on his own. He sometimes casts children but the maojrity of clients i worked with in past dealt with child commercials and corporate video production

mrratty · 14/07/2006 20:44

Sounds interesting, do you know which child agencies he would use. I sound like an obssesive!!!!!!!!!

rupertbear · 14/07/2006 21:05

the last job we did we just did a search in the knowledge for child agencys and contacted them with a brief. I think we used 6 or 7 different agencys to get the 2 children we used

rupertbear · 14/07/2006 21:06

it is very interesting too. I love it!!

mimi1uk · 14/07/2006 21:14
