Marymay -you can look up car park charge for Cavendish square on NCP website -says it is £1.60 for 15 mins www.ncp.co.uk/parkwithncp.htm.Good luck for casting tmrw . Is it for Debenhams? DD had a casting at their head office last year in that street.
Mratty. Good luck for tmrw. How did Next casting go today?
Sounds as if there are more castings/jobs arounds as school summer hols kick off!
Good luck to everyone else going to John lewis casting over the next couple of days too!!!
Heard that dd has been confirmed for M&S job on Friday. Great news, as no casting but she did do a 2 day shoot for them last month.
Have a good evening everyonexx

mrratty · 11/07/2006 20:23

thorntons - well done on the M&S job! The casting was fine, if she gets the jobs it will be shooting between now and Saturday. There was only one other girl there but we were very early.

thorntons · 11/07/2006 20:28

Mratty, thanks! Fingers and toes crossed for your dd. She has a very, very good chance especially as she worked for Next very recently.

marymay · 11/07/2006 20:31

hi thortons..thanks for that.yes it is for debenhams .what at debenhams i dont no just said they wanted the look of a english rose so dd got to wear a skirt .she normally lives in jeans.do you remember if you were at the casting for along time.thanks

thorntons · 11/07/2006 20:37

Hi Marymay. DD has to try on an outfit and had a polaroid taken -we were there about 20 mins. Was well organised I doubt there will be many kids as there isn`t much room if held in same place ( Debenhams press office) .The Debenhams peeps are really nice. Good luck !

tavalana> What time are you and your sis going tomorrow, and how old are your LO's?

2manypimms> Ohh NO, thats very unfair. How is the LO's scar looking now. Are any of the products that your using working?

Hope everyone is ok, and good luck for everyone with castings.

mrratty> fingers crossed for your LO.

housemum · 11/07/2006 21:00

Hello again - what a day - car broke down, was supposed to be at school trip meeting for DD1. breakdown man took car to garage, sister-in-law fetched kids, nice garage man took me home - panic - half hour to meeting and dh at work still - only solution, grab oldest child's bike. Great there, uphill all way back. God, my legs are killing me - and as for unmentionable aches - ouch, anyone got a valley-cushion??!!

housemum · 11/07/2006 21:01

Julie - thanks for the CS info - they replied to my e-mail saying that she is unable to consider children in dd's age group at present (she's 3). How old is your LO? Do they have many little kids, I didn't have time to go through all the pics but the first few and last few pages were all teenagers.

mysonsmummy · 11/07/2006 21:05

mimi - he is with UA and is 4. what about yours?

mrratty - how is the school about taking her out. is there a set no. of days? thanks ds is starting reception in sept.

2 many - am i right he had an accident at a shoot and they didnt even use the shots. if i am what a bloody cheek!

do you get paid when you go to a casting?

UA have just sent me my password so off to have a look. couldnt believe it when she said they touched up his photos.

twinmumma · 11/07/2006 21:07

Good luck those with castings. Very exciting. I hope one day we get jobs - when I decide who to go with (BK have offered. Waiting to hear from MOT) Will prob go with MOT if they offer.
Re cynicism from husbands (see long way back on this thread - earlier today!) I do hope that it isn't agencies on here trying to self promote - cos I get a v friendly vibe when reading the thread and messages... even when peoples kids are up at castings together - everyone just seems excited to meet up, rather than competetive pushy mums!
Anyway - didn't have a question... just a good luck message to those casting.
Byeeeee

rupertbear · 11/07/2006 21:24

hi there I think you were refering to me. If you were no I dont even have a child with any agencys. I read through and someone asked a queston last nite about an agency that my sisters kid is with. So i put my knowledege on here to try and help. Some see that as promoting, but take what you will from that. I was only trying to share what i knew to someone that asked, thats all.

it is normally friendly on here an dthe whole website is a bundle of info on all sorts of things, not just modeling and that.

mysonsmummy · 11/07/2006 21:25

twin - i have only heard great things about MOT jnr. did you try B&B or Kids London? i went through a real fed up stage when ds got some no's and even worse no work but did stick with it when i really wanted to give up. think what kept me going with it was people telling me he was gorgeous and shod do modelling and knowing that he loved the attention he got at the shoot we did. really happy with our agency now have a really friendly feel about them. good luck.

2ManyPimms · 11/07/2006 21:26

All the bits I picked up don't seem to have much effect. It is still red and will be for a while. Feeling a bit "pre" at the moment so this is bugging me more than it should, I guess. But, heck...SOME shot should have been good enough during the 45 minutes of photography!!!

The phone has been silent since putting DS back on the books last week. I didn't expect to have him innundated with queries, but just a SNIFF of a casting would have helped him along greatly. (He is now worried about his scar and wondering why people don't want him....the DOWN side of modelling!!! A fickle industry!).

mrratty · 11/07/2006 21:26

Her school allow everybody to have 10 authorisied absence days to use as holiday so they count model days as holiday days. Her teacher finds it very exciting so never makes me feel bad about taking her out. Not sure what will happen if she goes over the 10 days!

rupertbear · 11/07/2006 21:28

is that 10 days a year or term?

mrratty · 11/07/2006 21:28

Ten days a year!!!!

2ManyPimms · 11/07/2006 21:28

Rupert - WHAT? There is more on the Mumsnet website than the modelling thread!!!????

rupertbear · 11/07/2006 21:29

surely thats not enough? what happens if someone is in a show or something, that happens all the time with things like oliver etc.

mrratty · 11/07/2006 21:31

I think thats different and down to the policies of the council. Some schools don't allow anytime off some as much as you want and othrs limit the number of days.

thorntons · 11/07/2006 21:31

2Manypimms - Hey ,are you sure ds pic wont be used? Why dont you ask B and B to speak to the client and confirm. ..Especially in light of what happened .I am sure he will get castings/jobs very soon.

rupertbear · 11/07/2006 21:31

I was browsing through last night and theres loads of info on things nothing to do with kids at all. Loads of people help with laods of things too so it is a good place to put a question if your worried about something and someone always seems to come along and offer advice. You cant get that anywhere else that i can think of

rupertbear · 11/07/2006 21:32

thats not fare mrratty is it, so kids in one area can model more than others? There should be one rule for all

mrratty · 11/07/2006 21:34

Thats just the ways things are, lifes not always fair!

rupertbear · 11/07/2006 21:36

reminds me of that story in the paper the other month about the lady that couldnt get the cancer drug becauase too expensive but other areas were able to provide it cause they had more funding. Whats that all about?
