Just found this site, very intersting. my eldest daughter was taken on by Little Acorns and in 2 years, not a peep from them. They didn't even acknowledge any e-mails I sent.........until the last one where I said I would take the matter further if they didn't contact me. Two days later I received a phone call and they have offered to put my daughter back on their books at no charge with new photos, I am sure I will spend another year waiting for a phone call that won't come although they have assured me that the head booker will really push her forward!
Since then both of my daughters have been offered contracts with Bizzykidz, I am really sceptical about ALL agencies now but it seems that reading through these messages they are quite reputable. Sadie London has given me lots of confidence about this company, so thanks for that. For anyone considering Little Acorns...........don't bother!

TATA · 24/10/2004 18:44

hi ladybuggunn - yes i have a seminar to go on thursday with little acorns but might not bother now you have said that , my daughter has also been accepted for bizzykidz i have spoken to them at length and they are very informative about the business.

ladybuggunn · 24/10/2004 19:16

Hi Tata, the seminar at little acorns consists of them looking at your child for two minutes, you pay f£20 then you get a talk from a woman who just tells you about how much work they get....don't know who actually does it as reading through these boards no child is actually ever employed! It seemed to me at the time that ALL children in the room were offered a contract which made me suspicious but I stupidly went ahead anyway and paid the registration fee of £85. We also paid for photos to be taken, which were truly awful! That cost another £90....so I was really ripped off. My husabnd knew instantly that I had made a mistake........but you live and learn don't you?

TATA · 24/10/2004 20:30

ladybuggunn - yes i really think i wont bother now with little acorns, i think i will stick with established modelling agenices bizzkidz and elizabeth smith. Basicaly we applied for several agencies and they all came back and accepted, so I have gone with just the two and see how we get on.
Have your daughters had work from bizzykidz? Did you pay the £80 fee?

Gumbee · 24/10/2004 21:07

Was interesting to read about people's experiences of Bizzykidz as my 16month daughter has recently been accepted by them. In the process of getting together information to them so they can apply for a licence for her. Will be interesting to see whether anything will come of this as I have been ripped off in the past. Looks like this is a reputable agency though and have talked with the agency over the phone who all seem friendly and very informative.

mummylove · 24/10/2004 21:20

Hello, my only advice is DONT USE MODELS DIRECT, they are a money grabbing scam, they charge over £100 for admin fees and then never call you again, their phone system has 100 options and if you email them they dont reply or you just get an automated reply.

stay clear!

they even advertise at the baby show,i keep meaning to contact the organisers to tell them they should not allow scammers to advertise there.

ladybuggunn · 24/10/2004 21:33

Tata
HAve just heard today that my girls have been accepted so have not decided what to do yet. I wanted to hear from other people that they were a reputable company before parting with more money! I also am waiting to hear back from a couple of other agencies.

TATA · 24/10/2004 22:07

Well good luck to you all it seems a very risky business!! but i am sure bizzykidz from what i have read and been told is a sound agency. Is anyone out there have their children registered with Elizabeth Smith, Scallywags or M.O.T Junior would like some advice on these ones,it appears Elizabther Smith is excellant and reputable any advice please??

Gumbee · 25/10/2004 13:56

Tata

I e-mailed photos to Elisabeth Smith agency but got an e-mail back today saying they had no vacancies for children of that age group - 16months. So will stick to Bizzykidz for time being.

TATA · 25/10/2004 17:38

Gumbee

excellant well we might meet then one day at bizzykidz you never know! My daughter is nearly 4 . good luck gumbee

ladybuggunn · 26/10/2004 15:22

The only thing that is worrying me now is that everyone's kids seem to have been accepted by Bizzykidz, is there anyone out there who has been turned down by them?

TATA · 26/10/2004 18:40

I can only go on their portfolio of clients they hold, if you check out their website you can view all their clients - so there must be work for all these new young models they are taken on

SADIELONDON · 27/10/2004 12:54

I DON'T THINK THAT BIZZYKIDZ ACCEPT ALL THAT APPLY COS THEY HAVE NEARLY HALF THE AMOUNT OF KIDS ON THEIR SITE THAN THE OTHER AGENCIES AND THEY DON'T CHARGE A YEARLY FEE. IF THEY DID THEN THEY WOULD HAVE MILLIONS ON THEIR SITE? THEY DO GET A LOT OF WORK THOUGH, SO I SUPPOSE THEY WOULD ALWAYS NEED NEW MODELS FOR THAT WORK. IT IS DIFFICULT WITH AGENCIES, BECAUSE ALTHOUGH ONE MUM SAYS SHE HAD NEVER HEARD FOR LITTLE ACORNS, I KNOW PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD WORK WITH THEM. I THINK THAT REALLY THE AGENCIES LOOK TO GET A GOOD SELECTION OF KIDS TOGETHER AND THEN OFFER THEM TO THE CLIENT. THE THING IS, IF AN AGENCY DOESN'T CHARGE A YEARLY FEE AND YOU CHILD IS NOT GETTING WORK, THEN THE AGENCY AREN'T EARNING EITHER, SO THEY SURELY WOULD BE AS UNHAPPY ABOUT THAT AS THE PARENT? IT DEPENDS ON THE AGENCY THOUGH I SUPPOSE XX

ladybuggunn · 27/10/2004 15:35

Sadielondon I understand what you are saying but what I object to is paying £195 to Little Acorns and 2 years later they still have a photo of my daughter when she was only 9 months old posted on their site (she was almost 3 by then!) I repeatedly sent new photos but was ignored!
I am waiting to hear back from Kids of London (my friends daughter was with them and they were excellent) and then I will take the bull by the horns and decide. Thanks for your message x

crunchie · 27/10/2004 15:48

I am with MOT Junior and I find them great. I don't do much TBH but that is because I refuse most castings - too much hassle. However they do lots of Toys R us and stuff and generally I only do a job if it is not a pain!!

They are fine about this. If I wasn't working and was a SAHM I would do loads more and probably get more work. I turn down more jobs than I take.

muffincat · 28/10/2004 11:43

I too have my daughter with Little Acorns and in two years (the second one for free admittedly) she has had one casting (strangely almost immediately after I had a "discussion" with them about her lack of work) which required us making the journey from Essex to Hammersmith for a two minute questioning session and a photograph of her taken on a throw-away camera. I was told I would be contacted within a week but when I heard nothing I rang them and was told she did not get the job. I think I will be checking out some of the other agencies mentioned on this message board - will let you know how we get on.

mykidsmum · 28/10/2004 12:02

Urban Angels are great x

MrsBigD · 28/10/2004 12:06

I had a similar experience with Little Acorn as muffincat... I actually informed LA that we'd be away on holiday to NZ from such and such date until such and such date and guess what... they left a message on my mobile that there would be a casting the day we landed back from NZ! Frankly I think it's a con. Might check out some of the other agencies mentioned. Have one major problem though... dd is the cutes and prettiest thing ever, obviously , but at age nearly 3 she still fits into 18-24 months clothing! Anybody for a petite shot?!

mykidsmum · 28/10/2004 12:07

hi its done on sizes not ages so this shouldn't be a problem!!

MrsBigD · 28/10/2004 12:24

oh o.k. just thought she'd be a rather 'mature' looking 18 month old

muffincat · 28/10/2004 14:17

Mine's the opposite to MrsBigD's daughter - she's not yet 3 and wears 4-5 year old clothes and size 10 shoes!!!

MrsBigD · 28/10/2004 15:05

muffincat - maybe we should put together a portfolio of extremes? grin

mumsypop · 29/10/2004 13:54

my dd has recently been accepted by bizzykidz I have not yet paid the £80 fee as I was researching into the agency as to make sure they were reputable. After reading this site and all the comments it has really helped and I think I will definately go for it.... Thanks everyone

ladybuggunn · 24/11/2004 22:13

Anyone got any info on the agency Bubblegum?
