TATA - My daughter is with Bizzykidz, I paid a one off fee and she has earned that back many times over if that is of any help to you. Good Luck!

mykidsmum · 22/10/2004 23:20

All my children are signed on with Urban Angels modelling agency and i have not paid a penny. They do take 25% of what they earn but this is standard across the board. Would strongly recommend, the director is absolutely lovely and feels strongly babout reflecting diversity. I live out of London but still manage to get a reasonable amount of work for my kis, who love it, wouldn't do it if they didn't

Have you had any work with them at all? Only my sister signed her son up with them and didn't get a thing at all. It's not that there's anything wrong with him as he was with Norrie Carr for 3 years and didn't stop working.....just wondered...

mykidsmum · 22/10/2004 23:31

Also my little girl (one of twins) featured in the Cotton comfort catalogue mentioned earlier re exzcma (sorry spelling??!!) and yes she has suffered from it. IMO modelling if with the right agency and the right attitude from parents doesn't have to be the issy=ue people make it. My children are currently in thats Life magazine if anyone has it dressed up in witches costumes, proud parent moment!

SADIELONDON · 22/10/2004 23:33

I have just looked into Urban Angels a bit by calling a casting Director that worked for Grays Advertising for nearly 10 years and it appears that no-one that he knows has ever heard of Urban Angels. I did find them on the Internet, however,(although they don't even have a website!) and it appears they have an 0870 telephone number to earn them money, so I don't suppose they need to charge a fee do they? There's always a catch!

mykidsmum · 22/10/2004 23:34

Hi Sadie, it comes and fits and starts really, had three jobs in one week in September and haven't heard much since, but the business i think is like this as they have notoriously busy times also clients are very specific afew cms of height can make all the diffrence in whether the child is booked. they are a good agency though and the director really is a lovely human being!

Oh and I forgot to mention that 25% is not the norm across the board at all for child agencies. 20% is the norm. I am glad you have had work though. Do they only deal with photographic then, because my friend deals with commercial work and deals with all the big and busy child agencies but has not heard of them. Do you know how long they have been established? Sorry so many questions, only I am just curious because my sister could not get any answers from them when she called querying why she had not heard from them in ages....thanks XXX

mykidsmum · 22/10/2004 23:38

I never ring her she always rings me and was booked on line. They are a relatively new agency and have positive feedback in baby mags such as junior. I got in touch with them through someone who works in PR for M&S and have had a lot of high profile work since such as next and persil, definately would not question her integrity. A non fee ageny is very rare and I really haven't forked out at all, also if i can't make a casting etc there is never any pressure

Hi sadie, yep commercials too, Huggies, DFS, ELC and CBEEBIES and yeah you are right i think I do only pay 20%. I really think the major issue here can be child specs as soon as my twins hit 102-104cm they got loads of work and believe me they are gorgeous, but until then very few and far between.

SADIELONDON · 22/10/2004 23:45

No I was referring to people calling, I mean most agencies phones are going all the time and if the caller is paying then that can add up to a good little profit. I couldn't understand your second sentence regarding M&S, did you mean that your child did the advertising for them? It is not normal for an agency to pressurise any parent into going for audition though, as I have never had that any agency, especially Bizzykidz that I am with at the moment. It is nice though because I thought that I would have to go to everything they called me with and that is not always easy when you have two other children to consider....XX

SADIELONDON · 22/10/2004 23:49

It seems that they have the same work as Bizzykidz because one of my children is in the CBEEBIES which is on TV at the moment and was pencilled for the DFS. The huggies was offered for my youngest but we booked a last minute holiday two days before so I was really gutted....£15,000 buyout!! AAGHH!! Never mind. We get 3 or 4 auditions a month, so maybe one of them will be another big one! We can live in hope! XXX

lilsmum · 22/10/2004 23:50

does anyone know of any decent modelling agencies in north west? lancashire, liverpool manchester area?xx

mykidsmum · 22/10/2004 23:51

No, a friend i know worked for M&s in PR so i aske dwhich agencies they use and she gave me their number. I ahve met many mums on shoots etc who also use Urban Angels and many ahve had lots of work, one mums little boy worked with David beckham. If your sister has any concerns then perhaps she should approach the agency i have only dealt with one woman but she has always been open to suggestion/debate- I went through a faze when I thought is this all worth it and she told me that i could take as much time needed to get back to her and didn't get in the slightest bit arsey that i didn't want any castings etc for a bit

SADIELONDON · 22/10/2004 23:53

Don't know of any actually there, but I know that a fair few southern based agencies do get work in Liverpool and Manchester. I am with Bizzykidz and my neighbours boy, Connor, is in the latest Bold commercial that was filmed in John Lennon airport in Liverpool. They were looking for northern based children originally but couldn't find any and came to London agencies to find some that would travel... Hope it helps XX

mykidsmum · 22/10/2004 23:53

Sorry lilsmum they do exist I just don't know ny, but be careful please!
Much Love xxxxxxxxxx

lilsmum · 22/10/2004 23:54

thanks sadielondon... i have looked in yellow pages etc but cant really find anything..strange!! also i think it is better if its a recommendation. anyone else? xx

lilsmum · 22/10/2004 23:55

all the agencies seem to be london based..well all the ones i have heard of anyway xx

SADIELONDON · 22/10/2004 23:56

Bizzykidz did all the M&S campaign this year exclusively and not via M&S at all. They don't do their own photographic and commercial work, infact no company does. They use advertising companies and Ward Diamond was the M&S advertising company this year and they only use Bizzykidz? I am getting confused....XX

mykidsmum · 22/10/2004 23:56

Wow your kid isn't the boogie beebies kid is he Sadie wow what moves?? If not the perhaps we were at the same casting?!!
Much Love xxxxxxxx

mykidsmum · 22/10/2004 23:59

Well I definantly went to the M&S headquarters in baker street last year for a casting as did several other agencies was chatting to a mum from Scallywags whose child had previously worked for M&S so I am confused also. Also went to a casting for M&S couple of months back and again other children from other agencies so don't know about this?!

SADIELONDON · 22/10/2004 23:59

MY KIDS MUM - You are talking about the last commercial...I wish! Wasn't he a little star! No my boy is in the new one....a group all dancing. Did you go to the BBC studios for the casting? I probably saw you there! It was in the summer holidays, Thursday I think my audition was? XX

SADIELONDON · 23/10/2004 00:02

MYKIDSMUM - I thought you meant photographic, because Bizzykidz do do all of that, as Ward Diamond supplies their photogrpahic studios etc. They used the same kids from Bizzykidz for a whole seasons campaign, which is why I was getting confused there....XX

mykidsmum · 23/10/2004 00:02

Gosh if only I could remember the day of the week!! Don't even know what day today is, definately didn't involve dancing, something about petending to be a Tweenie, funnily enough have never seen the advert!! Didn't get it obviously, still seething lolxxxxxxxx

mykidsmum · 23/10/2004 00:06

Sometimes do find it all abit much, would definately be alot easier if I lived in London, I have taken Four children under four on the train before for a job. saying that my twins have learnt so much and definately has improved their confidence, however if they ever became vain/cocky it wold be curtains!! Would hate to see that and have seen it in others at castings uuuuughhhhhh xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

SADIELONDON · 23/10/2004 00:07

I was referring to Boogie Beebies advertisement for CBEEBIES. They audioned a fair few litte tots at the BBC in the summer. It was such great fun. The kids loved it! Mind you I think some of the mum's were more interested than the kids to be fair! Comments like 'he always does it at home', while the boy was hiding behind mum with a red face and tears in his eyes... I must play mum for a bit and get my eldest off to sleep I think. He thinks I don't know he is awake!! Take care XX
