I will confest to having one arrive in the post today.
Wondering where im gonna keep it out the way of the kids...without losing it entirely.
And also, do you have to wear a pad Just In Case?

I'm getting one today! You ladies have sold me on it. Need to go to Boots, anyhow, to add some points onto my new card.

I especially like the no leaks idea.

After having my kids, tampons just don't do well for me anymore and I find pads uncomfortable and yucky.

As I'm thinking of being fitted for a diaphragm, a mooncup will be good practice!

AllieBongo · 28/05/2006 11:14

i think dh would puke if he ever saw it. I have to use a tampon and pad so not sure. TMI alert!(tampons give me thrush, would that be an issue)

expatinscotland · 28/05/2006 11:16

Yeah, well, it's your body. he doesn't have to have periods.

I'm pretty heavy the first few days, too.

AllieBongo · 28/05/2006 11:17

i'm gonna get all moon-cupped up then!

expatinscotland · 28/05/2006 11:18

TMI ALERT!!!

after having kids, tampons fall out of me.

there's gotta be a better way. mooncup here i come!

charliecat · 28/05/2006 11:25

Expat, theres a gadget, cant think what its called, that has little weights in it to get your pelvic floor back...erm...someone will know.

AllieBongo · 28/05/2006 11:27

I have 2 embarrassing mooncup questions.

Please look away if easily offended.

Can you have sex with it in?

Does it ever get squeezed out if you are doing a big poo? (please tell me I am not the only one for whom that happens when using a tampon Blush)

charliecat · 28/05/2006 11:34
  1. no and
  2. probablyGrin

FrannyandZooey · 28/05/2006 11:38

Why can't you? Does it not sit up the top like a diaphragm?

charliecat · 28/05/2006 11:39

no, end of it is near the opening of your bits, and your other halfs wotsit would be trying to ram it out the wayGrin

OP posts:
plummymummy · 28/05/2006 11:40

2nd question has happened to me but usually when the tampon is saturated Blush

monkeytrousers · 28/05/2006 11:40

No you can't have sex with it in.

Yes, i gave birth to mine whist trying to blow up a rather stubborn balloon once. Now it's my party piece Grin

And give it some time to get the hang of getting it in and out. I felt confident after about 3 cycles. Use your pelvic floors to get it out and seal it in, IYKWIM.

spidermama · 28/05/2006 13:32

Franny I have been amazed at the mooncup's staying power even during particularly large evacuations.

I once had sex with it in by accident and came to no harm. What does that say about me (and dh) that we didn't notice. Blush

FrannyandZooey · 28/05/2006 13:39

I wouldn't necessarily go around advertising that one, Spidey. It does not present yours and your dp's genitals in the most flattering light, that's for sure.

wangle99 · 28/05/2006 16:53

Frannyandzooey - whilst you can do a big poo with a mooncup in I actually find it better to remove it first to erm help the movement along Wink

FrannyandZooey · 28/05/2006 18:32

Oh good lord. Is that quote of the week or what? I think it sums up the spirit of Mumsnet for me. Helpful, clear, unashamed, and ever so slightly rude.

BagelBird · 28/05/2006 18:39

dino (if you are watching this thread) - it is brilliant for heavier periods - much less likely to leak in my experience. In fact, I have not had any accidents at all since getting one last summer. Would never ever ever go back now as I am a total convert.
The only downfall I have found is that it can be a little tricky to clean when out and about using public loos with no sink in the cubicle. I take a small bottle of water out with me for these odd occasions and make sure I give a more thorough clean when at home. I guess flushable wet wipe type thingies would be good too, just don’t like the thought of the chemicals used on those things going onto the cup and then inside me.. I would stick to good old fashioned quick rinse with water.
(Can’t believe I am posting so enthusiastically for a MOONCUP of all things!!!!!)

lioncub · 28/05/2006 18:46

Oooooh you guys will talk about anything!(blush)
The diaphram is alot more flexable so is easy to put in.
I bought mine on line about 18.00 from the mooncup site.

poppiesinaline · 28/05/2006 19:03

Another mooncup convert here! I have very heavy periods and the mooncup is SO much better than superplus tampons. PMSL at the 'giving birth' to a mooncup. Grin Mine is kept in my knicker drawer too.

charliecat · 28/05/2006 19:22

Hello poppies, next time you are on MSN we can discuss our mooncups PMSLGrin

JanH the doctor gave me some pills to stop me bleeding which I am currently taking. When they run out I will see how things are going.

tinyFox · 01/06/2006 09:10

expatinscotland · 01/06/2006 09:13
