I will confest to having one arrive in the post today.
Wondering where im gonna keep it out the way of the kids...without losing it entirely.
And also, do you have to wear a pad Just In Case?

Haven't tried mine, I am hoping it won't leak. We'll see,

Patttsy · 01/06/2006 14:44

So...how do you get them out? Do you push, like giving birth or put your hand up and pull? Have any of you ever spilt the contents on your clothes?

I am slightly won over by everyone's enthuiasum (sp) Will have to use up my 3 boxes of superplus first though.

expatinscotland · 01/06/2006 14:47

You put your hand up and pull, Pattsy.

FlameBoo · 01/06/2006 14:49

I sort of tilt to one side to break suction, then pull

NomDePlume · 01/06/2006 15:00

I'm going to get one of these. Can you sleep in them ?

expatinscotland · 01/06/2006 15:02

they're fab for night, NDP!

i had to trim the 'stem' pretty short b/c i have wonky anatomy, but i'm also not at all squeamish about my body, so i've no trouble pulling it out.

FlameBoo · 01/06/2006 15:10

I cut my stem off completely - always wanted to use the base of the actual cup for taking it out anyway.

CaptainDippy · 01/06/2006 16:26

Mmmmmm. I have seriously heavy periods am defintely thinking of getting one as I'm always having accidents. Blush Bit nervous though - I know they do one for women who haven't had a baby and for women that have - Tee! Hee! Smile

Orlando · 01/06/2006 16:29

Mine arrived this morning, and as luck would have it the painters are still in...

Feels wierd, a bit. And have had a very amusing session in the downstairs loo trying to get the bloody (literally) thing out. An education for the dds...

monkeytrousers · 03/06/2006 20:22

Orlando, you shouldn't be able to feel it at all - like a tampon if it's fitted correctly.

And it does take a bit of getting used to - it took me a couple of months before I would wield it like a pro Grin

MoiAussi · 24/07/2006 12:17

Yes - I got one thanks to Mumsnet and it is FABEROONEY!!!

I will NEVER go back to tampons....

Two Qs for all you users...

  1. Did you tell your DH about it.. if so, how? It's not exactly the easiest thing to drop into the breakfast discussion?? and
  2. Would you ever give one to someone as a present?
arfishymeau · 24/07/2006 12:53

I've got one too, all thanks to Mumsnet. It's brilliant. My flow is heavy so I have to use a liner as well, but it's still loads better than tampons.

MoiAussi - I haven't told DP. As you say, there hasn't really been an opportunity. I would love to give one to a friend because it makes such a difference. Tampons are the work of the devil in comparison. Not sure how I would have felt about one before giving birth though. I mean, once you've done stirrups, forceps, stitches, created a blood silhouette of your obstetrician on the delivery room wall then you're not going to be squeamish about anything else are you?

LemonTart · 24/07/2006 13:00

nomdeplume - you can sleep in them, cycle, jog, aerobics etc in them. I found they moved less, leaked less and needed fewer "changes" than tampaxes. Before, I would have to get up in early hours of morning to change my tampax on heavy days, now can go through to morning. Less headaches and uncomfy feelings too as they don?t dehydrate you or leave lint inside you like tampax. Just going away on holiday without having to worry about running out, or going out for a long day trip not worrying about period starting etc is fantastic.
Wish I had heard about it years ago. No draw backs whatsoever for me. Bought one for my sister a while ago when we were out shopping together - she was unconvinced so I said it was my "treat" and I bet she loved it. She did. Could never buy anyone else one though - too personal!

MissChief · 24/07/2006 20:14

why/how? sound disgustingly medieval to me (admittedly i know nothing about them) - washing them out in a public loo? reusing them?
i think i can be persuaded on the environmntal/comfort front but cd someone give me specifics pls!
