I will confest to having one arrive in the post today.
Wondering where im gonna keep it out the way of the kids...without losing it entirely.
And also, do you have to wear a pad Just In Case?

hovely · 25/05/2006 19:41

yes, me too, converted thanks to MN

dewmeadow · 25/05/2006 21:27

Thanks TTgoblin! That's amazing! Think of the affect on the environment, and no string hanging down!

Havent had an AF yet but when they return I will definitely think about using one. I even like the name.

Twinkie1 · 25/05/2006 21:28

I have used it a couple of times and decided it was super gross (although that very much my opinion and no one elses!!) and went back to tampax 0- mooncup is in bathroom cabinet gathering dust - was going to stick it on here for sale at some point!!! Wink

madamechocolat · 25/05/2006 21:49

OMG I can't believe I listened to you all and just ordered one online Shock- if it's useless I shall be here to tell.....Grin

SHHHH · 26/05/2006 16:27

Sorry but yuck....! Don't like the idea and defo won't be trying one..each to their own I suppose..!! BTW I don't think the government don't tax/vat you on any sanitry products...> Are't tampons etc usually vat free at tesco asda etc...?

spidermama · 26/05/2006 16:31

I've got one. I'd never go back to the old world methods. They seem crazy to me now.

BagelBird · 26/05/2006 16:33

fantastic things - how anyone who has given birth can find them squeamish is beyond me. They make financial sense in the long run, and safer in terms of toxic shock, they are environmentally sound, easy to store - don’t need to worry about running out on holiday, easy to clean, comfy, low leakage (brilliant at night)...I am 100% converted (thanks to mumsnet threads) :)

SHHHH · 26/05/2006 16:39

I have given birth and i'm not squeamish but would rather not see what comes out of my body iykwim..!!! Wink.

dinosaure · 26/05/2006 16:40

Are they okay for really heavy periods? Mine are just awful now, something to do with old age I guess!

lioncub · 26/05/2006 17:05

Hi there, I'm quite heavy and don't get any leaks. I think it's a great invention and I do tell everyone about them (well those I know). I can't believe that it's not advertised on TV yet.:)

auntyquated · 26/05/2006 17:13

me too...never heard of them before MN
wouldn't go back

LeahE · 26/05/2006 20:19

SHHHH -- the government does tax you on sanitary protection products (because they are a "luxury", don't you know), although the rate was reduced to 5% in 2001. In contrast, men's shaving gear is zero-rated for VAT because that's a "necessity". As a protest/shameless marketing gimmick, some shops choose not to pass the VAT on to the customer, but it's still charged by and payable to the government.

If you don't like seeing what comes out of your body then presumably you change tampons/pads with your eyes closed... Grin

Jasnem · 26/05/2006 20:48

I have one, in my knicker draw.
I was given it for my birthdayGrin My bf loved hers so much, she bought me one too.
I had it before I discovered mn, too.

expatinscotland · 26/05/2006 20:53

i'm thinking of going for one. after two babies and cloth nappies, i'm no longer squeamish about much.

you people converted me - i'm a breastfeeding, sling wearer w/a baby in cloth nappies :o.

who will soon have a mooncup if it doesn't leak.

thanks, MN!

Weatherwax · 26/05/2006 21:10

I have one, thank you mumsnet Smile. I have heavy periods now so the just in case pad is important. I get more and more used to it as the months go by and find I am less bothered by the smell of a period than in pre mooncup days.

I know I said I have one but I brought two, I presume the other one is in the bottom of a toy box somewhere. High shelf recommended

brimfull · 26/05/2006 21:11

Have one

Love it.I leaked all the time with tampons, have used maaoncup for a few years now and have leaked about two or three times and that's been on really heavy day during the night.
You forget it's there.

sugarfree · 26/05/2006 21:20

I'm intrigued.
Did you all buy online or can I get it in Boots?Next to the other 'Feminine Items"?

spidermama · 26/05/2006 21:23

monkeytrousers · 26/05/2006 21:33

I have lost it on occasion...not in there in the bottom of my bag!

Spagblog · 26/05/2006 21:34

Me, love it. Also find it quite interesting that
I can completely forget that I am on the blob now.

Posey · 26/05/2006 21:45
