I'm in the Midlands and I'm just being nosey as to who else lives in the centre of good ole Blighty - I know there are a few others (suew, lill & ailsa) but anyone else?

OP posts:

Later half of Feb is ok for me, but I'll be in Canada for the first two weeks. Weekend of 22nd/23rd? Should be over the jetlag by then!

bayleaf · 04/01/2003 12:40

Dh will be out all day on the Saturday ( inc evening as he's at the cross country championships thing in London) ( running obssesed - not something I share with him...)AND running in the day on Sunday - so I could do Sunday night but that's about all.
I think the next weekend is OK - and anyhow i would be inclined to tell him TOUGH if there's yet more races as they tent to rule our life.
Yes we do seem to be kindered spirits ( to carry on from the other thread!) Dd also had ridiculous amounts of clothes - and a lot of denim as it wears so well and you can never tell it's second hand! I really on Matalan for other little essential like 4 packs of tops for £5 and 5 pairs of socks for £2. Shame dh doesn't share my habits - all the money I save by my bargain hunting he goes and fritters away in Paul Smith!!
We don't seem to have much in common really do we!

GillW · 04/01/2003 17:12

That first weekend in March is good here. Anyone else?

GillW · 20/01/2003 14:31

Thought I'd reveive this as it's dropped off the "latest threads" lists. Anyone else in the Midlands area interested in a Birmingham(ish) meetup - possibly weekend of 1st/2nd March?

bayleaf · 20/01/2003 15:31

I'm glad you have Gill - WHERE ARE all the Midlands Mumsnetters??!!

SueW · 20/01/2003 19:31

I'm still here but very broke!

I couldn't do that weekend or the 22nd March due to prior commitments but I'm in central Birmingham anyway on the 14th March due to a tutorial. If anyone could make a Friday evening, I could hang around after my tutorial and catch a much later train back.

All providing DH is back in work by then.

sylvev · 21/01/2003 18:04

I'm still here too! The first weekend of March will be ok for me, so far. Have we a venue? Central Birmingham would suit me best.

bayleaf · 21/01/2003 19:54

As before central anywhere would be my least favourite option as it puts the journey time and price up so significantly for me ( free petrol in dh's car). I'd presumed we'd stay with the unexciting but practical venue we decided on before just because it took so long to thrash it out! ( pub/restaurant near birmingham international)

GillW · 21/01/2003 20:10

I'd assumed the Little Owl again as a fair compromise on accessability for most people.

Ailsa · 21/01/2003 23:00

Count me in, haven't been on Mumsnet much since London, trying very hard to catch up.

GillW · 19/02/2003 15:05

Ailsa, sylvev, Bayleaf (and anyone else) - are we still on for this?

Honeybunnie · 19/02/2003 16:39

Did someone say meet up in Brum?

Are gate crashers allowed?

I live in Brum and would love to meet up with everyone, what time, date and place?

GillW · 19/02/2003 17:57

Honeybunnie - since I don't think any of us have actually met before, you could hardly be gatecrashing! Of course you'd be welcome.

Honeybunnie · 20/02/2003 01:57

Cool......

bayleaf · 20/02/2003 16:43

I'm always interested but can't now make evening on 1st - tho could make lunch on 1st or any time on 2nd.

GillW · 20/02/2003 23:45

I can do anytime that weekend, or the one after. How is everyone else fixed for Sunday 2nd - it might be a bit quieter then too than it would be on the Saturday?

Mocha · 21/02/2003 00:34

Hi there,
I'm fairly new to this site, but would love to meet up. I live in Burton on Trent.I don't drive so have to rely on public transport, Birmingham is fairly easy for me.
Unfortunately I can't do March until after 17th as I will be visiting family in Scotland.

Carla · 21/02/2003 08:27

Like you Mocha, I'm new to this site to but would love to meet up with other Mumsnetters. Does anyone know if this would be the closest meet up to Oxford? Or would it be London?

Sam29 · 21/02/2003 10:26

Am in Brum also. First baby due 6th March so that first weekend would be good for me (as long as nobody puts in an early appearance!). Central Birmingham or North side ok for me or could also get to International if can persuade husband to chauffeur me as have fear of driving on motorways!

Mocha · 25/02/2003 00:54

Any date been set for meet?

GillW · 25/02/2003 09:12

We seem to be drifting towards it being this Sunday (2nd) - how about 7.30 Sunday evening at the Little Owl (by NEC/International Station)? If anyone's planning on coming in by train I could probably do a pickup from International Station if you let me know, as I'll be driving anyway.

bayleaf · 25/02/2003 19:01

That would be great for me Gill as I've just realised dh has a race in the day so lunch time would mean babysitters etc

GillW · 26/02/2003 20:40

Anyone else planning on coming along on Sunday?

Mocha · 28/02/2003 20:01

Sorry, I can't make Sunday. My mum arrives from Scotland tomorrow.

bayleaf · 28/02/2003 20:13

Gill - this isn't looking good is it??? What is it with Midlands meet ups?????
